CUNHA, Leonardo Sobral January 2006 (has links)

Migration of a Chosen Architectural Pattern to Service Oriented Architecture / Migration of a Chosen Architectural Pattern to Service Oriented Architecture

Kaliniak, Piotr January 2012 (has links)
Context: Several examples of successful migrations of systems to Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) are presented in the literature. Some of the approaches also try to structure the process of migration to SOA. The reported migration attempts underline the role of architecture of migrated system, but they do not explore the architectural patterns applied in architecture of migrated systems while proper usage of patterns may simplify and improve quality of migration. Objectives: This work is aimed at elaborating guidelines that support migration from a system that is based on a chosen architectural pattern towards a system based on Service Oriented Architecture. Methods: Literature review is used as a basic method in the initial steps of the research, that is during investigation of existing techniques of migration to SOA, establishing procedure for selection of the migrated pattern and identifying building blocks of the target architecture. Results of the literature reviews are further analyzed in order to select the migrated architectural pattern and to elaborate the target architecture. The guidelines for migration are the result of the synthesis of the analyzed information. Results: The migration is realized as a translation between two pattern languages: the first pattern language describes the chosen architectural pattern–Model–View–Controller and the second pattern language describes SOA target architecture, expressed using SOA architectural patterns. The translation is defined by a set of migration guidelines. The approach is also illustrated with migrating an example student project. Conclusion: The study shows that the usage of an architectural pattern during migration allows to define the migration in a simple, structured and precise way using guidelines that represent a set of subsequent well defined steps that should be applied in order to migrate a specific type of legacy system.

A Method for Analyzing Security of SOA-basd Systems

Lu, Qifei, Wang, Zhishun January 2010 (has links)
SOA-based systems o er high degree of exibility and interoperabil- ity. However, the securing of SOA-based applications is still a challenge. Although some related techniques have been proposed and presented in academia and industry, it is still dicult to check SOA quality in security aspect from an architecture view. In this thesis project, a method for security analysis in SOA is intro- duced and investigated. The method intends to be used for analyzing security of SOA-based systems on architecture level. To demonstrate the method, a prototype supporting the method is introduced and imple- mented. And the method and prototype are also evaluated respectively based on Technology Acceptance Model. The evaluation result shows that the prototype supporting the method is a promising inspection tool to detect software vulnerability.

Metodika vývoje služeb v oblasti veřejné správy / Methodology for development of services in public administration

Čunek, David January 2011 (has links)
The main topic of this thesis is the application of best practice methodology to the development of services in public administration and e-Government. The work focuses on interoperable services that can be integrated across departments of public administration or businesses in the private sector. In section 2 we describe the various aspects influencing the development of interoperable services in public administration using the European Interoperability Framework (EIF) as a basis for classifying interoperability dimensions. Section 3 evaluates current state of services in public administration focusing on information interoperability that addresses syntactic, structural and semantic heterogeneity. We have found that Services of Public Administration Portal (PVS) suffer from high levels of structural and syntactic heterogeneity, and we discuss possible ways to standardize service interfaces in public administration in order to improve interoperability. Creation of standardized library of services has been proposed as a possible way forward. In section 4 of the thesis we propose a methodological framework for the development of e-Government services using the best practices methods identified in the private sector domain. The main emphasis is placed on library services and its role in the lifecycle of services. Stages of lifecycle of services are decomposed into sub-phases so that they match phases in the MMDIS methodology.

Analýza správy podnikových dokumentů v SSČS a.s. a návrh na její optimalizaci / Analysis of enterprise content management in SSČS a.s. and its optimization design

Lokaj, Lukáš January 2013 (has links)
This thesis focuses on design of document exchange solution used between Stavební spořitelna České spořitelny a.s. (SSČS) and its external sales network, which is outdated and doesn't meet the needs of SSČS or sales network. The thesis also includes the identification of suitable basic principles used in the service-oriented architecture (SOA) concept and their application in design solutions. The aim of the thesis is a conceptual solution design, based on the principles of SOA and the following technological design of changes in existing environment, so that on this basis could be created a functional and technical specification for suppliers of these applications. Stated objective is achieved through an initial analysis of the current environment, which identifies the possibilities of existing applications, and identifies weaknesses in the process that will be changed in the new solution. The analysis covers as the environment of external sales network as the related environment in SSČS, which together figure in the process of documentation exchange. As the results of the analysis and based on theoretical knowledge and consultation with experts in the field of SOA is then formulated a proposed solution at the conceptual level, which is further elaborated in the description of the proposed changes in individual components of the new solution. The outputs of this thesis will serve SSČS both in terms of describing the existing and the new environment, and as an input for the specifications of the proposed amendments to the supplier concerned applications. Structure of the thesis consists of introduction, devoted to the characterization of SSČS and providing an initial framework for solved domain. This is followed by a description and the analysis of external sales network, particularly in terms of application equipment and communication flows, followed by a description of the environment in SSČS, which contains the components processing sent documents. Next part of thesis is devoted to the formulation of the basic concepts of SOA and selection of appropriate principles that are followed in the subsequent section to draft the solution itself, first at the conceptual level, followed by a detailed description of the necessary changes. Everything is then evaluated in the final part.

Factors Affecting Reusability in Service Oriented Architecture : An Empirical Investigation in Three Companies

Ebrahimi, Ershad January 2013 (has links)
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is an architecture which provides a single topology for business applications. SOA provides architecture for integration of several applications within or outside of organizations by reusing application components and services. Reusability is one of the mostly emphasized principles and benefits of SOA. Code reusing has been a concern for application developers. However, another way of reusability is reusing software components and services in SOA. By reusing services, a service can be used in more than one business process of service application. By considering the significance of reusability in SOA, a number of studies have been performed, to theoretically identify the factors affecting reusability in SOA. However, a research is needed to perform an empirical research to identify a set of factors affecting reusability in real business situation. The empirical study is performed by an investigation in three different companies in Sweden, which have been customers of a system integration company and have implemented SOA projects. The investigation is done by performing 5 semi-structured interviews with correspondences of those companies, to find more factors affecting reusability from their perspective. As a result, a set of factors derived from the empirical study is identified which reflects the ideas of practitioners in business. By performing a qualitative approach and comparing the factors derived from the empirical study to factors derived from literature study, it is concluded that academic factors constitute just around 40 percent of factors found in business, and they are mostly technical factors. The rest of factors are new factors based on experience of practitioners in business. The new factors are mostly business oriented factors, and have emerged since 2008, when earlier works are performed. Due to the recent maturity of SOA in organizations, the factors affecting reusability have changed, especially during the last four years.

Stable Spatial Solitons In Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers

Ultanir, Erdem 01 January 2004 (has links)
A spatial soliton is a shape invariant self guided beam of light or a self induced waveguide. Spatial solitons appear as a result of the balance of diffraction and nonlinear focusing in a system. They have been observed in many different conservative media in the last couple of years. Solitons are ubiquitous, because of the probability of using their interactions in optical data processing, communications etc. Up to now due to the power required to generate the solitons, and the response times of the soliton supporting media, these special waves of nature could not penetrate the applications arena. Semiconductors, with their resonant nonlinearities, are thought to be ideal candidates for fast switching, low power spatial solitons. In this dissertation it is shown theoretically and experimentally that it is possible to observe stable spatial solitons in a periodically patterned semiconductor optical amplifier (PPSOA). The solitons have unique beam profiles that change only with system parameters, like pumping current, etc. Their coherent and incoherent interactions which could lead to all optical devices have been investigated experimentally and theoretically. The formation of filaments or modulational instability has been studied theoretically and yielded analytical formulae for evaluating the filament gain and the maximum spatial frequencies in PPSOA devices. Furthermore, discrete array amplifiers have been analyzed numerically for discrete solitons, and the prospect of using multi peak discrete solitons as laser amplifiers is discussed.
