Juventude Rural Quilombola: identificação, reconhecimento e políticas públicas / Quilombola Rural Youth: identification, recognition and public policies

Cupertino, Maria Cristina 26 June 2012 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 texto completo.pdf: 7030360 bytes, checksum: df85ce8e6395979c39aa6bf6a0e8461f (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-06-26 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The issue quilombola today is not something simple and already resolved by the legal provisions; it is permeated by conflicts and struggles for constitutional rights. In this sense, in order to guarantee the rights of demarcation and titling of their lands, the communities have resorted to their origins as a way to ensure the preservation, not only of their culture, but also of the territory. But, for that, the policy of demarcation and titling of quilombolas lands requires that the community recognize itself as a remaining of quilombo and preserves the culture of its ancestors. In this process of cultural and patrimonial preservation, youth would have a very important role, because it is it that will continue, or not, the culture and territory. Thus, this study aimed to examine how rural young from quilombola territories, in the city of Piranga, Minas Gerais state, behave before the legal requirements. The methodology used consisted of bibliographic and documentary analysis, apart from field work in which were used data collection techniques as participant observation and thematic interview. We noted that the young recognize themselves as remaining of quilombo and that they preserve the culture of their ancestors, especially in the religious sphere. This dissertation is just one of many ways of thinking about youth, not as a problem, but as a potential of local development that, unfortunately, nowadays remains anonymous and with a very limited field of possibilities.

Les faiseurs de notes : Pratiques professionnelles, identité sociale et mobilités des musiciens dans la Provence et les États pontificaux rhodaniens du XVIIIe siècle / Professional practices, social identity and mobilities of the musicians in Provence and Comtat in the 18th century

Gras, Aurélien 26 June 2018 (has links)
In the french Ancien Régime society, characterized by social etiquette and assigning specific positions to individuals so that hierarchies are established, musicians appear to form a professional group difficult to categorize. They experience many realities according to their profiles : the organist from the cathedral, the violinist enlivening a district wedding, the town trumpet, the military drum or the street musician. The uncertainty regarding their status make them an ideal population to study in order to examine the way modern society views itself. This thesis offers to study this socio-professional group with a prosopographic approach inside a large geographic area that encompasses Provence and the pontifical states of the Rhône in the 18th century. Our reflection on musicians follow three main guidelines : the professional practices of the group, the social identity that shapes and defines its members, and the spatial and social movements characterizing their distribution across the territory. These three themes are mutually dependent as they constantly blend and influence each other.

Cross-cultural MOOCs: designing MOOCs for Chinese students

Ma, Lei 30 June 2018 (has links)
Advocates of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), a cross-cultural phenomenon that has attracted public attention throughout the world, portray them as an equalizing force in international higher education; but researchers have noted discrepancies in how learners from different countries have engaged with them. The number of MOOC learners in China is growing rapidly, and Chinese learners are enthusiastic about the unprecedented freedom they now have in selecting courses and accessing resources from the best international universities. However, they have a significantly low completion rate and may experience unique challenges about which little is known. This study took into account the diversity of MOOC learners and proposed changes to its course design to make it more inclusive for Chinese students. I used a mixed method—including document analysis, surveys, and interviews—to investigate the Chinese experience of taking Western MOOCs and also to explore the educational theories and design principles of MOOCs that have been discussed in the Western and Chinese literature. My analysis of the literature revealed issues of contextualization that may play a critical role in improving the MOOC experience for Chinese students. Drawing on theoretical educational frameworks—including motivation, community of inquiry, self-regulated learning, and social identity—my analysis of surveys and interviews identified common themes in the Chinese experience of Western MOOCs. In accordance with the results of my analysis, and also in line with interaction equivalency and situational principles, this study provided suggestions for adapting MOOCs to Chinese learners, such as enhancing content quality, improving learner–learner and learner–instructor interactions, providing social support, and collaborating with local universities and agencies in providing technical and credentialing support.

Social Identity and the Shift of Student Affairs Staff to the Academic Unit

January 2012 (has links)
abstract: This study explored the phenomenon of student affairs professionals working at Arizona State University who shifted from a student affairs unit to perform similar work in an academic unit. The conceptual framework for this exploration was social identity theory (Tajfel, 1974), which asserts that individuals develop a self-concept or image that derives, in part, from her/his membership in a group or groups. This qualitative study utilized in-person interviews to capture raw data from four purposeful participants, and a software package (NVivo 9) aided in the grounded theory approach to data analysis (Charmaz, 2006). The study found that participants placed a high value on the college-centric approach to their student affairs work, but they still identified as student affairs professionals working inside the academic unit. Findings are useful to: supervisors who have an interest in the professional development and personal well-being of staff; faculty and administrators of master's and doctoral degree programs designed to prepare student affairs professionals; associations that serve student affairs professionals; higher education leaders engaged in organizational change; and higher education administrators interested in the roles of individual biases and values in organizations. This study will interest student affairs professionals making the shift from a student affairs unit to an academic unit, and it will inform the researcher's own practice and career development through his investigation of his own organization. / Dissertation/Thesis / Ed.D.

Zanatta, Mariana Scussel January 2008 (has links)
This research has focused on the process of identity construction as a product of the relationship between work and family sphere, considering that these are areas of socialization that enable individuals to take social roles upon and then articulate their experiences. Therefore, the general problem of work concerns the drawing up identity process of the individuals themselves since identities are social constructions and involve the interaction between individual course and the links established by the performance in different spheres. Here we choose the relationship between family and professional sphere, since our unit of empirical analysis is composed by workers, specifically couples from a large company in the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul, Carlos Barbosa city, which usually hire many members of the same family for its staff frame. The production unit in question has 2,000 workers and among these there are 300 couples, mostly workers of production. To analyse the identity processes, we follow the idea that identity is the result of many processes of socialization in which the individual is inserted. Besides the analysis of identity we still investigate cases about the company's preference in hiring relatives of its employees. The hypotheses of this study are based on the idea that this practice, called by the company "valuing our own staff”, is a resource used by workers to control themselves aiming a greater control of them by the company. We also believe that different perceptions and views on the company practice as a resource to promote control branching are associated to a particular type identity. For information processing and analysis of collected material through semi-structured interviews, we used the analysis of thematic content. The interviews carried operate two fundamental key areas: "world lived at work" and "world lived in family." It is through the intersection of these fields that we seek to define possible identities, since we choose to follow Claude Dubar’s theoretical suggestions, especially those of the work Socialization: construction of social and professional identities. Dubar establishes that identity constructions result from a dual transaction between, on one side, individuals and institutions (mainly the company in which he/she works/ relational dimension) and on the other the individual faced to the changes, his/her past and personal background (biographical dimension). In this sense, all over the analysis, in order to provide a direction to our interpretation of the interviewees’ social representations, we tried to work with the dimensions shown above, relational and biographical, that is, we tried to interpret the representations of the subjects in their relationship with others and with himself/herself. Through the understanding of the representations of those interviewed in relation to their personal and family trajectories, in other words, the narratives that seek to give effect to these trajectories, we made three identity profiles – possible identities – aiming to define the social identities of the surveyed couples.

The role of identity leadership in promoting collective action: a social identity approach

Khumalo, Nonhlanhla January 2017 (has links)
Based on social identity theory (Tajfel & Turner, 1979) and the social identity approach to leadership (Haslam, Reicher, & Platow, 2011), the present research addressed the question of how collective action is coordinated. Three studies are reported, which address the interplay between in-group identification, identity leadership and collective action in three social group contexts (i.e., political parties, civic society and workgroup). The results of Study 1 replicated that identity leadership is a four dimensional construct. However, these four dimensions had strong intercorrelations. Study 2 and 3 supported the hypotheses that the more people identify with the group, the more they will engage in collective action (Hypothesis 1) and in-group identification results in the perception of identity leadership which, in turn leads to collective action in certain group contexts (Hypothesis 2-5). Study 3 demonstrated that the relationship between in-group identification and collective action, via identity leadership is indeed context dependent (Hypothesis 6). Implications of the current research are outlined in relation to the discourse on collective action and identity leadership. / Grow-your-own-timber programme at Unisa / Psychology / M.A. (Psychology, with specialisation in Research Consultation)

Gossip's role in constituting Jesus as a shamanic figure in John's gospel

Daniels, John William 11 1900 (has links)
Reading the Fourth Gospel, one is struck by the amount of talk about Jesus. Many of the reports in John describing such talk reflect the social process of gossip in concert with other processes and dynamics involved in constituting social personages in the ancient Mediterranean world. Although there have been a few general treatments of gossip in the New Testament, none have focused on the subject of the gossip in John’s gospel, Jesus, the generative cause of the emergence of gossip traditions. The aim of this research project is to explore how gossip is involved in constituting Jesus as a shamanic figure in the Fourth Gospel. Building on the research of Pieter F. Craffert, and thus beginning with understanding Jesus as a shamanic figure, a viable framework for identifying and explaining features and functions of gossip is constructed after considering sociolinguistic studies and a number of ethnographies of extant traditional cultures of the Mediterranean. The framework is then brought to bear on texts in the Fourth Gospel reporting or describing gossip, in order to see how gossip contributes to constituting Jesus as a shamanic figure. As a result, this research offers a significant contribution to New Testament studies as it 1) represents an exploration and appropriation of gossip that has scarcely been exploited in the field, 2) provides a viable theoretical framework for positioning gossip vis-à-vis other pivotal first-century Mediterranean social values and processes, 3) models a new way to see and understand John’s gospel, and 4) is suggestive of an alternative to the reigning paradigm of conventional historical Jesus research in that it involves linking literary features about oral phenomena in John to a historically plausible figure thoroughly embedded in his social, cultural, and historical world. / New Testament / D.Th. Dimensão cultural do trabalho técnico em gestão em saúde / Cultural dimensions of technical jobs in health care management

Raquel Barbosa Moratori 29 October 2014 (has links)
This thesis presents a theoretical and methodological approach using the concept of professional culture with the aim to analyse cultural dimensions of technical jobs in health care management. The grounds of this research rely on the professional culture category and its sub-categories, i.e. career, social identity and interactive reflexivity. The goal is to understand cultural dimensions of such jobs discussing issues that may happen on the working life of technical health workers, i.e. how they recognise their reality, which educational and career paths lead them to their working positions, which identity connections unite them as a group, as well as their decision spaces and critical elaboration on issues that may happen on their daily routine. This investigation reaffirms the dialectical historical materialism as the analytical method, in which dialectical pairs are applied to understand the data that has been collected in an empirical fashion. The hypothesis of this study is that analysing cultural dimensions of technical jobs, from the Marxist framework perspective, allows capturing the interactional dynamics of this group as well as making links with economic and political issues, which affect the job itself in contemporary society. Obtained results indicate the relevance of this approach to understand conflicts and contradictions that may permeate cultural dimensions of such jobs. Additionally, further discussions allow creating projects to improve the qualification of such workers with the development of a more sensible career path, which enables workers to criticise and transform their jobs, while reaffirming the universal design of a public health system

Rosenlind, Pernilla January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this paper was to study how the terrorist, represented by Anders Behring Breivik and Rakhmat Akilov, was constructed in four Swedish newspapers after two terrorist attacks in Norway July 22, 2011, and in Sweden, April 7, 2017. The study takes on a social psychological and discourse analytic perspective, where the social identity theory with its ingroups and outgroups is central. The result shows that there were different discourses for the two offenders, where Breivik was portraied as an individual who is a purposeful cold-blooded loner, while Akilov was defined on the basis of his presumptive group affiliations as a passive and collective alien. Based on the results, Breivik can be placed in an ingroup and Akilov in an outgroup, which indicates a social climate where ”we” are set against ”them”, something that in turn can influence the individuals identity and values.
