O enfoque dado à ação antrópica de agentes internos e externos busca reconstituir a trajetória desses atores sociais com relação aos padrões de uso e manejo utilizados para explorarem a natureza, os quais têm provocado, sucessivamente, a exaustão do Meio Ambiente. Assim, este estudo procura destacar as dimensões cognitivas, afetivas e sociais dos sujeitos no universo empírico. O objetivo do trabalho é analisar as Representações Sociais de Meio Ambiente da população de cinco Comunidades Rurais do entorno da Lagoa do Piató, no município de Assú, no Estado do Rio Grande do Norte. Neste estudo é dado ênfase ao modo de pensar dos sujeitos sociais, como estes sujeitos se definem sobre o objeto e como são construídas as representações que lhes servem de guia prático no cotidiano de suas ações. / The entitled research: "A LAGOA É NOSSA MÃE: um estudo sobre Representações Sociais de Meio Ambiente nas comunidades rurais do entorno da Lagoa do Piató Assu/RN" intend to contribute with studies about the relation and the inter-relationship of Man versus Nature, which needs to be identified and understanding in a continuous process of modifications of the environment. The approach used for the action anlhropic of internal agents and external, search to reconstitute the path of these social actor's, concerned with the management and handling patterns, used to exploit the nature, which have been provoking, successively, the exaustion of the environment. Thus, the study search marks the cognitive, affective and social dimensions of the subjects in the empirical universe. The purpose of this work is to parse the Social Representations of environment for the five country populations of the neighborhood of Lagoa do Piató, in the county of Assú, in the Rio Grande do Norte state. In this study, the thinking mode of the social subjects is emphasized, like these subjects define themselves about the object and in what manner are constructed the representations that serve of practical guide in your quotidian actions.
