Evidential Analysis in the Process of Balanced Scorecard Embedding¢wTaking the Distributor of a High-Technological Material

Wang, Tai-An 13 June 2003 (has links)
Abstract To pursue continuous growth, enterprises have to draft out various development strategies of their operation management. Nevertheless, whether the development strategies can achieve the co-understanding and supports from the members of the organization and whether they can be really executed have to depend on systematic methods for implementation. Balanced scorecard is a kind of management system that makes the organizational strategies realized. It was originated from the balanced scorecard of the United States in 1990. It emphasized that the assessment standards for the performance on the four aspects of an enterprise (the aspect of finance, the aspect of customers, the aspect of internal procedures, and the aspect of innovation and learning) should be originated from their strategies, and should be linked with the rewarding system of the enterprise. It referred that balanced scorecard is not merely a performance assessment system, but also a management tool linked with strategies and rewarding system. This research takes the case of a company, being a distributor of high-technological material, as an example to understand the structural process of its embedding of ¡§balanced scorecard.¡¨ Secondly, through evidential analysis, we can understand the high- and low-rank staff¡¦s different extents of agreement to balanced scorecard ever since it was embedded in the company. Finally, according to the analytic results, the research points out the relevant problems encountered in the process of embedding and gives suggestions, which can be a reference guide for the analyzed company and other companies planning to embed balanced scorecard. The conclusions of the research are as follows: In spite of having received guidance from a professional consulting company in the embedding process of a series of organizational reform plans, the analyzed company was confronted with a lot of problems over the promotion of balanced scorecard. This is closely related to the enterprise culture, value judgment, organizational climate and leadership style deeply cultivated in the company for a long time. Therefore, it is not a problem of system itself, but a problem of execution. Apart from supporting the promotion of the system, high-rank and leading grades should hold positive attitude and take initiative action to participate the promotion of the system, and cultivate correct enterprise culture, value judgment, organizational climate and leadership style. In this way, the implementation of the system can be sustained continuously, and the future value of the enterprise can thus be created.

Chang, Chih-Hung 14 August 2008 (has links)
In 2000, the e-Commerce environment in Taiwan was still under development, and many Internet businesses were trapped in the crisis of dot.com bubble. One of the key factors is that the delivery of internet service and the fee charging methods had not been operated efficiently, due to causes of limited bandwidth, consumers¡¦ unfamiliarity with the internet services, and unsophisticated payment tools. However, the online game industry in Taiwan was not affected by the crisis, instead, related businesses emerged quickly. When facing the same e-commerce and network environment, how did the online game industry establish its channels and offer effective internet service and payment methods to help the consumers completing the product acquisition and transaction is a topic worth studying. Global telecommunications liberalization and a series of policies continually promoted by the government have contributed to comprehensive liberalization of the domestic telecommunication market. In addition to complying with the national telecommunication policies, the major duties of Chunghwa Telecom are to create corporate value and maintain sustainable operation following privatization, as it confronts rapid advancement in telecommunication technologies, a liberalized market, a changing operational environment, and intensive competition from aggressive competitors. Hence, Chunghwa Telecom needs to address the important challenges in creating a new competitive edge, developing new operational concepts, designing and implementing corporate strategies, utilizing resources, and enabling sustainable development. This study offers an analysis and discussion on Chunghwa Telecom¡¦s corporate competitive strategies following its privatization, as well as on its strategies and financial evaluation in the case of merging Senao, a distributor. SWOT and BCG Matrix are used to analyze the strategies adopted by Chunghwa Telecom, types of its business units, its relative market position and competitive situation, in order to explore the strategy implementation options, optimal allocation and utilization of financial resources, and development direction, to help this company fulfill its corporate strategies. Moreover, the results obtained through evaluation and analysis of the merger and acquisition strategies adopted in the merger and acquisition case are used to verify whether the value and implementation of these strategies correspond to the suggestions provided in the analysis using BCG Matrix, for reference on future planning of enterprise development strategies. The conclusions made in this study are summarized below: 1. Chunghwa Telecom has a solid corporate foundation, relative advantages, excellent development opportunities, and outstanding business units, which provide an advantageous foundation for continual development. Its strategic business units (SBU) are mostly cash cows that can generate great cash flow. There are two stars: broadband service and circuit lease, and one question mark: IPTV. Regarding corporate strategies, the strategic considerations by Chunghwa Telecom in maintaining the advantages of its cash cows (fixed network and mobile service), increasing their competitiveness, and maintaining their relative market share, are therefore necessary and cannot be ignored. 2. In addition to its leading position in market share, Chunghwa Telecom has quickly entered the distribution market by its successful vertical integration with a communication product distributor on the basis of a long-term strategic alliance. The efficient merger and acquisition strategies and optimal utilization of resources create a win-win situation. 3. Under the guidelines for SBU distribution, the benefit gained from the case of merging Senao is higher than that of other investment cases, as the basis of the cooperative strategic alliance and implementation of the strategies regarding utilization of financial resources and operational personnel contributed to fulfilled corporate strategies and a new corporate value. This case can therefore serve as reference for future investment.

A Study of the Construction of Measurement Indicators and the Internationalized Strategies for Higher Education in Taiwan

CHEN, CHIN-LI 06 February 2009 (has links)
This study selects five public and private universities as subjects of study, using literature review, theoretical analysis, survey questionnaire of Delphi Technique, interviews in depth with experts, and the SWOT analysis to investigate the appropriateness and accuracy of measurement indicators which are used to evaluate the extent of internationalization for universities by the government in order to establish the measurement indicators of internationalization for Taiwan higher education. Based on the established measurement indicators we propose an integrated strategic plan of internationalization for Taiwan higher education. Based on the results of the study we obtained 6 dimensions such as teachers, students, research internationalization, course internationalization, international visibility and internationalization of administration and campus in addition to 74 criteria as the measurement indicators for the internationalization of Taiwan higher education. After analysis, we found that the measurement indicators of the accreditation institutions of Taiwan higher education are still not profound enough with respect to internationalization one. Current indicators lack of the care of international vision of students and international courses and therefore their accuracy and appropriateness are quite disputable. In internationalization strategy, our research results show that the investment of educational resources by the government is insufficient in comparison with the nearby countries. The subjects under study take majority in common internationalization strategies while showing their differences with respect to their own status, backgrounds, resources, academic specialty domains, and future development. In addition, the international visibility has a great impact on raising university competition ability and it seems that there is still much space of efforts to be put by all the subjects under the study. According to the research results, we suggest that government had better invest more resources at long term basis to assist universities to conduct long term academic interactions in teaching and research cooperation; take the good opportunity of more and more attention of the Chinese culture and the leading position of Taiwan in learning culture level to raise the quality of higher education and develop Taiwan into an academic platform and research center of Asia; while the universities can raise international visibility by participating in international organizations and establishing collaboration relations with foreign universities, develop academic fields that have local characteristics, establish differentiation strategies and create competition advantages. The measurement indicators of internationalization of higher education established by this study can provide as a direction or reference for universities and higher education accreditation institutions in promoting or evaluating their internationalization efforts.
