The thesis deals with Vratislav Effenberger´s poetry from 1940 - 1951, issued in 2004 by Torst publishing under the title "Básně 1". This publishing house aims to publish the whole author´s work. The third chapter informs about Effenberger´s theoretical and artistic texts, many of which still await for publication. The fourth chapter focuses on Effenberger´s attitude towards surrealism and on his role as the main theorist. There is a number of surrealist terms explained. The content of the fifth chapter is finally the own interpretation of each poetry collection in comparison to interpretations of major surrealism personage such as Bruno Solařík, Miloslav Caňko and František Dryje. The sixth chapter provides the interpretation in ways of entering into Effenberger´s poetry based on the themes of space and time, subjectivity, objectivity, black humor and absurdity and the way of imaging the woman and erotica. Pocta Toyen (Marii Čermínové). Autorská kniha / Tribute to Toyen. Artist´s book

SKOPCOVÁ, Petra January 2013 (has links)
This thesis consists of two parts, written and practical. The subject of the written part is life and work of the surrealist artist Toyen. Despite the fact that Toyen is primarily known as a painter, I look at Toyen primarily as a first class illustrator and graphic designer in my thesis. The practical part is then the making of author's books inspired by graphic creation of Toyen. The main sources of inspiration for me were mainly the drawing cycles from the war period, such as The shooting range, and her artistically adapted erotic themes that she pursued throughout the whole course of her work. The result is the making of author's book containing fifteen sheets including book jacket and flyleaf. The aim of my work was not only a summary and processing of the creation of this artist, but especially to give a tribute to Toyen in this way.

Paříž-Praha : křížení surrealistických pohledů. Básnické zrození města / Paris-Prague : converging surrealist views. Poetical birth of town

Ireland, Sophie January 2016 (has links)
TITLE : Paris-Prague : converging surrealist views. Poetical birth of town AUTHOR : Sophie Ireland DEPARTMENT : Literature, languages, theatre - Romance literature SUPERVISORS : Prof. Myriam Boucharenc - Doc. PhDr. Aleš Pohorský, Csc ABSTRACT : This work aims to study the intersection of urban poetry produced by trips to Paris and Prague of artists who have contributed to the foundation of surrealism and by publication of their works in both cities. The travels of artists from Paris and Prague in each city allow encounters revealing artistic affinities. They promote aesthetic links and poetic exchanges between the founding artists of surrealism in Paris and Prague. The treatment of each capital through poetic transcriptions of stays in a foreign city and through works that reveals the possibilities of adventure in a familiar ciy leads to a comparaison of realities from Paris and Prague. The study of works makes possible to distinguish subjects circulating from a text to another and to put in light a common semiotic through witch appear features of surrealist city. The revival desire of avant-garde artists underlies that exploration of the city and contributes to the development of a subversive image of the city. Poetry creates a disruption of representations and is an opposition to ordinaries...

Sen a snový obraz v dílech surrealistických umělců / The dream and the image of dream in the artworks of surrealist artists

LEXOVÁ, Petra January 2013 (has links)
The topic of this dissertation is the phemomenon of the dream, dreamy picture and their projection into the creation of surrealist artworks. The disertation tries to connect the basic knowledge of psychoanalysis and the history of art. The thesis attepmts to solve the questions of how the dream imagination is different from the imaginative art of the previous centuries and how the dream topics are involved in the artworks. One of the most important resources for the art work of surrealism was in the psychoanalysis and the knowledge of the work of Sigmund Freud. That is the reason why the first part of this thesis is dedicated to Freud?s The Interpretation of Dreams and the dream symbolism ? its origin, knowledge resources and reflection in the fine arts. The closing chapter uses the previously undiscovered knowledge to present the work of Jindřich Štýrský and tries to indicate how the dream imagination was projected to the artwork of this signifiant surrealist painter.

Zpěvy Maldororovy v kritickém diskursu od Bretona k Blanchotovi / Lautréamont's Songs of Maldoror in the critical discourse from Breton to Blanchot

Nitschová, Eva January 2011 (has links)
Lautréamont's Songs of Maldoror in the critical discourse from Breton to Blanchot This thesis presents four different approaches to the work of Isidore Ducasse: in the texts of André Breton, Léon Pierre-Quint, Gaston Bachelard and Maurice Blanchot we observe the critical view of the Songs of Maldoror beginning to shape in the first half of the twentieth century. While the surrealists tend to adore Lautréamont uncritically, allowing no actual evaluation of his work, the other authors try to review his work, not limiting their commentary to enthusiastic praise. Pierre-Quint considers Songs to be an expression of a revolt in the first place, the contents being Maldoror's revolt against God, and the form being Lautréamont's revolt against the conventional use of language. Bachelard utilizes another approach: through a single topic - the bestiary of the Songs - he analyzes the element that in his opinion determines the characteristic animality of Lautréamont's work. Finally, according to Blanchot, the Songs of Maldoror is the ultimate reflection of Lautréamont's life and the writing process itself his way to deal with the traumas of childhood and adolescence. The final chapter compares the different concepts and evaluates the evolution that Lautréamont criticism has gone through from Breton to Blanchot.
