Using as passage theoretician-methodology the job of Oral History and the Memory in order to collect sources oral that they told on the paper of the related teacher in the problematic one presented by the research, had been presented the memories and histories of the teacher Teresa Aquino around its familiar origin, of its educational formation, its professional life in the UFPB and of its enrollment in the fight for the aged ones in the Paraíba. After that, the contents of the oral sources and writings around the primordial of the educational debate of the Gerontology in the Paraíba by means of the quarrel in such a way of the project of creation of the University of the Third Age how much of the project of foundation of the Nucleus of Studies for the Third Age of the UFPB between the years of 1991 and 1992 had been argued, both of authorship of Teresa Aquino. Finally, the evolution of this was analyzed has exactly debated in accordance with the institutionalization of the Nucleus Integrated of Studies and Research of the Third Age of the Federal University of the Paraíba in 1994 and with its academic production in the dimensions of education, the research and the extension for the development and improvement of the gerontological educational debate in the Paraíba until the year of 2005, that is, until the year of death of the teacher Teresa Aquino. / Este trabalho investigou e analisou historicamente a atuação e o legado da professora paraibana Francisca Teresa Montenegro de Aquino na institucionalização do debate educacional da Gerontologia no âmbito da Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPB), como também em outros cenários de desenvolvimento da educação de idosos em nosso Estado, entre os anos de 1991 e 2005. Utilizando como percurso teórico-metodológico o emprego da História Oral e da Memória a fim de coletar fontes orais que narrassem sobre o papel da referida professora na problemática apresentada pela pesquisa, foram apresentadas as memórias e as histórias da professora Teresa Aquino em torno de sua origem familiar, de sua formação educacional, de sua vida profissional na UFPB e do seu engajamento na luta pelos idosos na Paraíba. Em seguida, foram discutidos os conteúdos das fontes orais e escritas em torno dos primórdios do debate educacional da Gerontologia na Paraíba mediante a discussão tanto do projeto de criação da Universidade da Terceira Idade quanto do projeto de fundação do Núcleo de Estudos para a Terceira Idade da UFPB entre os anos de 1991 e 1992, ambos de autoria de Teresa Aquino. Por fim, foi analisada a evolução deste mesmo debate de acordo com a institucionalização do Núcleo Integrado de Estudos e Pesquisas da Terceira Idade da Universidade Federal da Paraíba em 1994 e com a sua produção acadêmica nas dimensões do ensino, da pesquisa e da extensão para o desenvolvimento e aprimoramento do debate educacional gerontológico na Paraíba até o ano de 2005, ou seja, até o ano de falecimento da professora Teresa Aquino.
