Att lära sig sluta missbruka : En studie av kamratstöd på Internet / To Learn How to Stop Abusing Drugs : A Study of Peer Support Online

Haglund, Matilda January 2021 (has links)
Traditional help services have problems reaching out to people with substance abuseproblems. Some individuals choose to seek help for recovery from anonymous others online. This study examines the social support within an online support group for individualssuffering from drug abuse, specifically, the drug rehabilitation forum on the Internetcommunity Flashback forum. By looking at the social support in the forum through aqualitative content analysis nine forum threads have been examined. To seek help from otherswithout the pressure of going straight edge as well as an easily accessible tool for differentstages of the process of recovery, the Internet community and forum is an alternative helpchannel and/or complement to traditional services and support. The study also shows that, aswell as social learning theory can explain how individuals begin drug abuse, the theory canalso shed light on how individuals learn to stop their drug abuse.

Immigranter i Sverige – Etablerade eller outsiders? : En kvalitativ studie om immigranters identitetsprocess och integration i det svenska samhället / Immigrants in Sweden - Etablished or Outsiders? : A qualitative study about immigrants identity process and integration in the Swedish society

Latifi, Fatime January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to get more knowledge about how the identification process for immigrants’ is going. We want to know how the identification process has developed for them since they moved to Sweden and if they have had any difficulties adapting to Swedish society. Furthermore, the purpose is to find out whether the Swedish society or the Swedish culture has been an obstacle for these immigrants. To fulfill the purpose of the study, we used semi-structured interviews where seven immigrants with different ethnicities participated. We also used a qualitative method and a narrative method analysis. We chose the sociological theorists Erving Goffman and Norbert Elias in this study. We chose Goffman's theory about stigma where he explains how people are stigmatized and categorized depending on their identity, culture or characteristics. We chose Elias' theory about the established and outsiders where he explains why there are established and outsiders and what causes these categorizations. The results showed us that the immigrants we interviewed are influenced by the Swedish society in their identity process. Although they feel that they have been motivated and want to be a part of the society, they experience that many immigrants are categorized in the same category because of stigma. This can lead to difficulties for other immigrants to integrate and they can experience difficulties as they are seen as outsiders and are not offered a chance in, for example, workplaces. This also affects the identity process as they do not get the chance to show that they have adapted well in the Swedish society.

“Chosen Instruments”: Tolkien’s Hobbits and the Rhetoric of the Dispossessed

Watson, Samuel Bennett 01 April 2019 (has links)
Tolkien’s hobbit characters are capable of a particular type of rhetorical persuasion, one which relies on their ability to leverage their status as outsiders among the other people of Middle-earth. The hobbits are uniquely suited to the task of bringing unity to Middle-earth’s people because of the simplicity of their rhetoric, which focuses on proving their own morality and presenting truths without elaboration. When compared with the text, the film adaptations of The Lord of the Rings also help highlight the importance that Tolkien placed on the simplicity of hobbit rhetoric. These abilities of the hobbits become clear through a narrative analysis of the stories from Tolkien’s world, including Bilbo’s speech patterns, the efforts of Merry and Pippin to convince the Ents to fight Isengard, and Frodo’s appeal for unity and aid as made to the Council of Elrond.

Pesquisa do Estado do RJ- - FAPERJ / The guiding thread of this analysis is the political of development outlined by the military government under the three editions of the National Development Plan (PND). One of the goals in context of these plans was to enable the colonization spaces demographically "empty" the country through the implementation of projects of colonization in the area that comprises the Legal Amazon acting as a stimulus to spontaneous migration and directing the flow of migration to the region. The goal of this study is to investigate and analyze the causal link between migration and development from a multidisciplinary view of the plots that tell the tragedies of migrants who settled in the border region. The case study was conducted in Lucas do Rio Verde, located in north of Mato Grosso, originating from a colonization project of the 1980s designed to resolve social tensions on the land that began to take a breath in Rio Grande do Sul. Party system strength in the 80’s and the rise of anti-politics in the 90’s in Peru: a quantitative descriptive analysis of subnational level / La fortaleza del sistema de partidos en los 80 y el auge de la antipolítica en los 90 en el Perú: un análisis estadístico descriptivo del nivel subnacional

Ruiz, Gabriela, García, Sebastián, Mercado Córdova, Lucía, Vela, Estelí 25 September 2017 (has links)
This paper explores two important topics among the political parties and party system literature in Peru: The strength and stability of the political party system in the 80’s and the decade of the 90’s, better known as the «decade of the antipolitics». The contrast between the literature reviewed and the quantitative data from the 7 Municipal Elections, that took place among this time period, attempts to find if this phenomena occurred also at the subnational level. In the decade of the 80’s, the political party system stayed stable with rule of the four most important political parties (APRA, Acción Popular, Izquierda Unida y PPC); however, individually these political parties did not have the same performance. In the decade of the 90’s, the concept «in- dependent» did not fit equally among all the cases and together with the fujimorismo depicted the political scenario of the 90’s.

AVVIKANDE KROPPAR I DET SAMTIDA TV-UTBUDET

Homman, Lina January 2007 (has links)
<p>This thesis discusses the representation of bodies in todays non-fiction television in Sweden. I have chosen to focus on deviant bodies (sexual, deformed or unhealthy) on display in reality-shows and documentaries on SVT, TV4 but especially on the commercial channels TV3 and Kanal5. Also discussed are the viewers emotional and bodily reactions. Altough these shows are different from one another in many respects, I argue that there is also a common thread between them. From a sociological and cultural perspective, and with help of some historical examples, I try to illustrate how we view these shows and what their function is. I conclude that the body is a site of powerstruggle and that these shows have many different levels of meaning. We cathegorize and value these deviant bodies but also our own. It is about making creating a ”us and them” and in the long run it has to do with making class and identity. The voyeuristic pleasure in watching these people displayed on TV is made possible from the safe distance of our livingroom.</p>

Nördarna Kommer! : En remedieringsstudie om framställningen av avvikelser och maskulinitet i populärkulturen

Banh, Ken January 2007 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine and discuss the current ways of portraying masculinity and deviations within popular culture. For this study, I’ve focused on two different sources, one being a reality-show and the other being a fictional series. Both of these series aired for the first time during 2005, though not in the same country. Despite the distance, both of these series portrayed the appearance of new masculinity, in this case, the fact of being a nerd as a new masculinity. The analysis focuses on examining the series with roots in the remediation theories as well as concepts of the immersive media and masculinity. Also, placing these series in a context where they can be compared to the late freakshow phenomena. This study aims to bring up thoughts around appearances of masculine standards as well as plant seeds for future discussions.</p>

Tillsammans är vi ensamma : En kvalitativ studie av ett internetforum tillägnat socialt isolerade människor / Together we are alone : A qualitative study of an internet forum dedicated to socially isolated people

Malmborg, Björn January 2014 (has links)
This is a study that aims to investigate what is being spoken about on an internet forum created for people who suffer from extreme loneliness. The study aims to answer questions regarding the users identity and general opinions regarding live a life of more intense solitude. The basic scientific approach of the study is centered around two terms, taken from Howard S. Beckers book "outsiders" (1997). These two terms are "outsiders" and "deviant careers", both dealing with the subject of deviant behavior. The method used to collect data is a relatively new method known as "netnography". This new method centers around studying subcultures on the internet. The main method of analyzing the collected data was the method known as qualitative content analysis, which is a method that centers on condensing and coding various parts of a text, so called "meaning units", and then categorizing these units into categories and themes for analysis. The main findings where that the users saw themselves as deviants, and had no problem in doing so. However, it was also found that varying opinions regarding what is "better" between following the norms of society, and to lead a life of this particular form of deviancy was a topic the users seemed to be divided on. Loneliness was a central part of their identity and a lot of the users did seem to favor living lives of isolation, although a lot of users also seemed to want more social interaction with society. A consensus regarding what was "the good life" was as such relatively hard to find, but there nevertheless seemed to be a strong sense of solidarity between the users against what was deemed to be "the normal people".
