Vyšší člověk a jeho význam v Nietzscheho filosofii / The Higher Man in F. Nietzsche's Philosophy

Jánošová, Simona January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to define the character of higher man, the conditions and the process of his development and also his relationship with the lower man and his significance in the whole of Nietzsche's philosophy. I present an interpretation which envisions the main character traits of the higher man in his strength, will, creativity, relation to suffering and need of overcoming resistance. The thesis presents the process of becoming a higher man (so called flourishing) as a process of self-creation in the sense of forming himself in harmony with his own substance and realization of his dormant potential. Manifestation of already flourished higher man consists of self-expression and a constant attempt to overcome oneself which allows the higher man to increase his will to power. The thesis interprets the importance of the higher man in Nietzsche's philosophy as a critical element of balance in society and the development of that society toward greatness. In the conclusion, the thesis sees Nietzsche's philosophy as primarily pro-human and striving for realization of its authenticity, where the higher man is the only authentic human. Keywords: higher man, greatness, lower man, flourishing, self-creation, morality

Automatic Man Overboard Detection with an RGB Camera : Using convolutional neural networks

Bergekrans, William January 2022 (has links)
Man overboard is one of the most common and dangerous accidents that can occur whentraveling on a boat. Available research on man overboard systems with cameras have focusedon man overboard taking place from larger ships, which involves a fall from a height.Recreational boat manufacturers often use cord-based kill switches that turns of the engineif the wearer falls overboard. The aim of this thesis is to create a man overboard warningsystem based on state-of-the-art object detection models that can detect man overboard situationthrough inputs from a camera. Awell performing warning system would allow boatmanufactures to comply with safety regulations and expand the kill-switch coverage to allpassengers on the boat. Furthermore, the aim is also to create two new datasets: one dedicatedto human detection and one with man overboard fall sequences. YOLOv5 achievedthe highest performance on a new human detection dataset, with an average precision of97%. A Mobilenet-SSD-v1 network based on weights from training on the PASCAL VOCdataset and additional training on the new man overboard dataset is used as the detectionmodel in final warning system. The man overboard warning system achieves an accuracyof 50% at best, with a precision of 58% and recall of 78%.

LA DEMYSTIFICATION DE L'HOMME BLANC : Le contact entre l'homme noir et l'homme blanc dans Une vie de boy de Ferdinand Oyono

Lumbila Toko, Joseph Delphin January 2012 (has links)
Colonization, which has resulted in the direct contact between the black man and the white man, leaves behind it an eternity of realities, of questioning and even an identity crisis. It was imposed on Africans by means of force, leaving no room for the concept of balance, equality or even of brotherhood. Instead you are faced with the concept of dominance between oppressors and oppressed. During colonization the white man had managed to impose its superiority to the black man by creating an absolute hierarchy: the white man is the all-powerful, the civilized, the absolute master of all, it is superior to all indigenous black; the black man, in the opposite, is found stripped of its roots, its customs, its history, in short it is found lower than the white man. In this work it was question to analyze the process of the demystification of the white man by the black man through Ferdinand Oyono’s Houseboy. We should then, through a study of this novel and other materials, show how this demystification is highlighted. By analyzing this novel and Toundi building his life the kingdom of the West, which will enable him to see more clearly in the behavior of its masters and demystify as well their universalist claims that their claims to the humanism ; we understand then the process and the circumstances which have enabled this demystification. The white man is debunked. Its superiority and its all-powerful are rendered to zero by the degradation of morals characterizing its way of life.

A liberdade e a igualdade do homem, no estado natural e social, segundo Jean-Jacques Rousseau / The freedom and equality of man, in the natural and social state, by Jean-Jacques Rousseau

Paredes, Edesmin Wilfrido Palacios 29 January 2007 (has links)
This thesis has an objective to make the analyses by the Genevan thinker Jean-Jacques Rousseau, who goes, from the description of the man in the natural state to the critic of the man in the social state. The author utilized of epistemological relations between, been natural and social state, nature and culture and property, as well as, descriptions and investigations about qualities such as: equality, freedom, love-of-himself, natural mercy and perfectibility; that they would be part, according to him, of the ontological or natural constitution of the man. It is with base in those concepts that Rousseau articulates its critic to the society and analyzes the freedom and equality of the man in the natural and social state. Considering that this subject is not restricted to a certain work, but that, is present in practically in all the set of its philosophical thoughts, for such reason was necessary to find resources to different texts, between which we mentioned: The Speech on sciences and the arts, the Speech on the origin and the foundations of the inequality between the men, Emilio and the Social Contract. It is in order to investigate this problematic issue, cradle mainly in the previously works mentioned, that we will develop the present dissertation.

Får man ta en bulle? : En undersökning av elevers översättning av pronomenet man till engelska / May I Take a Bun? : A Study of Swedish Students' Translation of the Pronoun Man into English

Otter, Harriet January 2008 (has links)

/
One of the goals of the Swedish national curriculum is that students develop a communicative and social competence. According to the English B-level syllabus, the students should among other things develop their ability to adjust language use to the situation. The indefinite pronoun man is a frequent occurrence in the Swedish language. Translating this word requires an understanding of situation as well as register. The study examines how the students handle the translation of man and if they know when the situation requires formal or informal language. The result shows that they can handle the translation in most cases even though they have not been given much instruction on the problem. However, the choice of you as a correspondence to man is predominant, and since this choice signals informality communication might be affected.
