[en] DO BRAZILIANS CIRCUMVENT THE RULES?: INDULGENCE AND RESTRAINT IN BRAZILIAN SOCIETY AND ITS APPLICABILITY IN PL2E TEACHING / [pt] O BRASILEIRO NÃO RESPEITA AS REGRAS?: INDULGÊNCIA E RESTRIÇÃO NA SOCIEDADE BRASILEIRA E SUA APLICABILIDADE NO ENSINO DE PL2E

JULIANA SALLES FARIAS 10 April 2015 (has links)
[en] The present study is based on an intercultural approach to identify the presence of reactions of indulgence and restraint to transgressions in Brazilian society, in order to confirm or refute the index found in the cross-cultural research by Geert Hofstede (2010 (1991)) that indicates that Brazilian society tends to indulgence. Foreign language teaching should not be dissociated from the teaching of cultural aspects, since the languages are associated to ways of interpreting the world of people who communicates through them. The teaching of cultural and intercultural aspects is even more necessary in second language teaching when it occurs in context of immersion, since the learner becomes part of the culture of target language and may be subject to culture shock. Brazil is sometimes seen as a place where the laws may be disregarded and where one can always use the jeitinho. Thus, the knowledge about the behavior of Brazilian society with respect to transgression becomes important for the foreign student to develop better coexistence and interaction with members of this society, avoiding stereotypical views. For such purpose, we analyzed episodes of the television series A Grande Familia, which seeks to represent the Brazilian middle class. Among the legal and moral transgression cases found, 54 percent provoked reaction of indulgence, which confirms the data found by Hofstede. Differently than predicted by chance, it turns out that the indulgent reactions are mainly motivated by self-interest and, to some extent, by the proximity to the individual who commits the transgression.

Transgredir, jamais! Linguistic interaction and politeness inside etiquette manuals

Cirelli, Renira Appa de Moraes 02 August 2012 (has links)
This thesis discusses communication as an interaction-dependent factor and linguis-tic politeness inserted in etiquette manuals, in order to explicit and implicitly identify the interactional strategies presented by three authors chosen as corpus, which is comprised of some parts chosen from three manuals of behavior: 1) Marcelino by Claudia: the guide to good manners by Marcelino de Carvalho interpreted by Clau-dia, by Claudia Matarazzo; 2) 21st Century Etiquette: a practical guide to good manners for modern times, by Celia Ribeiro; 3) Always, sometimes, never: etiquette and behavior, by Fabio Arruda. This research seeks to establish the bases for per-spectives in Conversation Analysis (CA) and in Interactional Sociolinguistics (IS). These theorical bases have two dorsal structures or chief ideas, with studies on lin-guistic interactions and politeness. It gives still a birds-eye view of the three books belonging to the corpus, with a brief analysis of linguistic variation. It also investigates the usefulness of these manuals in the improvement of social interaction levels. The analysis of politeness markers traverses the criteria for correction, attenuators, modalizations (a speakers attitude towards their own utterance), forms of treatment, and faces threatening acts (FTA), in order to find answers to the researchs posing questions. Behavioral aspects of courtesy are mentioned only when inserted into speech context or its intention. The study originates from a point of view about lin-guistic politeness; threatening theory on positive and negative faces, focusing on the language of social interest, with the purpose of continuity of interaction between indi-viduals or groups.

The research was based mainly on contemporary approaches of Jean Baudrillard (1991), Zygmunt Bauman (2001) and Goerges Bataille (1987). From the phenomenological perspective of Mikel Dufrenne (2008), the demonic esthetic is the aesthetic experience awakened by the horror and the grotesque. The demonic is historically, the rupture with the traditional sense of beauty and the moral. The demoniac would be a transgression of the dominant social order and the esthetic expression that reveals the transgressive and heretical of human nature. The Apollonian and rational reality is unmasked by the revelation of the Dionysian impulse that results in the return of man to himself, to obscurity, to unknown, to infernal and nefarious. In the contact with hell, the man overcomes himself and becomes what it is. The state of for coming and the between place are part of demonic expression as new spaces of contestation and transformation. The demonic esthetics is present in modern and contemporary art. For this are analyzed: the art works of Farnese de Andrade and the artistic discourse in the romance, The Tense Passage of the Bodies, written by Carlos de Brito Mello.

Transgressões em O Deus das Pequenas Coisas, de Arundhati Roy: níveis e motivações em contraponto / Transgressions in The God of Small Things, from Arundhati Roy: levels and motivations in correlation

Moura, Taís Leite de 10 April 2018 (has links)
In The God of Small Things (1997), from Arundhati Roy, the transgressions are substantial throughout the narrative, as the majority of them are performed by marginalized characters. In order to comprehend more deeply the reasons which propel the narrative and the characters to such violations, they were divided into three levels in this work: post-colonial, socio-political and affective. The transgressions analyzed here are the ones performed by the characters Velutha, Ammu, Estha, Rahel and Sophie. The levels of the transgressions, their motivations and the concepts of individual and cultural trauma are all correlated so that the intentions of the narrative are elucidated. In the post-colonial level, the concepts of Panikkar (1969), Festino (2007), Forter (2014) and Outka (2011) are applied, whereas Sztompka (2000, 2004), Alexander (2000) and Joseph (2010) are used for the socio-political level; the affective level is observed with notions from Caruth (1995), Bose (1998) and Almeida (2002). The hypothesis of this work is that Roy focuses on the transgressions of minor characters not only to criticize particular elements from the Indian society but also to trigger the reaction of the readers. This is supported by her essays and speeches quoted along the analysis of the novel.

Les pratiques des managers de première ligne dans la fabrique des mobilités internes : entre bricolage et transgression des normes / Practices of first-line managers in the making of internal mobility : between bricolage and transgression from norms

Meyer, Audrey 21 October 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is twofold. It first aims to enrich the understanding of practices considering how they are related to norms without restricting our view to a binary approach of opposition or not. It also intends to deepen the knowledge about first-line managers' practices in the internal mobility management process. While fundamental, these practices still remain poorly explored. Adopting a « HRM-in-practice » and an abductive perspective, this thesis relies on the study of a large public company that intends to give its managers a key role in internal mobility process. This study reveals a diversity of first-line managers' HR practices even though they are faced with the same top management's norms that severely restrict their formal leeway. By introducing the concepts of deviance and bricolage into the Practice Perspective's analysis framework, we show that this diversity conceals four different ways of behaving towards norms: in addition to opposition or not to norms, practices can also apply them with more or Jess distance. The distinction of these practices regarding the consideration of norms with or without deviance and bricolage first highlights the differentiation in used resources and action logics. These practices can also be considered as local adaptations to tensions related either to current norms or to the internal mobility management system. We finally show that the different practices that have been identified contribute to the construction of internal mobility in different ways.

Structures de Nambu et super-théorème d'Amitsur-Levitzki

GIÉ, Pierre-Alexandre 19 November 2004 (has links) (PDF)

Uvgaard, Paul January 2011 (has links)
Why do people transgress legal borders on beaches by the lakes and the coastline, despite thefact of a Swedish law defending the beach and a rigorous administration mirroring it? Nationalstudies show great differences in regional and local practice regarding the administration ofthe law of beach defense, Strandskyddslagen. This licentiate thesis explores the administration of Swedish beaches from both an actorand a structural point of view. It was carried out as a case study of three municipalities situatedby the southeast part of the Baltic and inland. The interviewed actors were regional andlocal civil servants including local politicians. The purpose of the thesis was to reveal whatimplications daily practice among civil servants and local politicians have on the forms ofhow beaches are appropriated and dominated. The thesis focus on the dualism of the privateand the public space. Drawing on structural and poststructural theory and qualitative methodologythe importance of methodology is argued. The author use a triangulation of differenttheories and methods. Grounded on interviews, five areas were thematized; ideology, power, professional cultures, communication and mirroring. The thesis reveals that chains of causesto the heterogeneity of the local and regional beach administration, can be investigated moreefficiently by using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methodology. The author found that the administrators personal ideology in relation to the ideology expressedby the law is of importance in the daily practice. He also show how the two mainparts of Strandskyddslagen contribute to the development of two identifiable approaches inthe civil servants practice. This finding he connects with the development of professional staffcultures. Eventually the thesis discuss the importance of interior communication betweendifferent levels of the administration and underpin the rising cost problem when municipalitiesare delegated the main responsibility for mirroring the beaches. This leading to a tendencyof a growing appearance of corporate influence on local public politics regarding exploitationof land close to beaches. The author propose a closer communication between regional and municipal environment-and building administrators. He emphasizes the importance of transparency, communicationand education at both the regional, local administrative and political level of the beachadministration.

The Theory of General Economy of Georges Bataille: Expenditure and the Sacred

Unknown Date (has links)
This study is to discuss the theory of general economy of Georges Bataille. The argument falls into four parts. First, it accounts for what general economy means by inspecting two principles: that of instant and that of expenditure. Next, the discussion goes to what separates the sacred from the profane world. On the one hand, the profane world is dominated by work and labor which make it transcendent while the sacred immanent world is liberated from within by the representation of sacrificial violence. On the other hand, while the taboo has a command of the profane, human beings achieve and celebrate their sovereignty by transgressing the interdiction. Then, the discussion shows that general economy can have sufficient and satisfactory explanation of the morphology of laughter. Finally, it proposes a new meaning of friendship from the economic view.
