The corpus of the research is related to news published in the period between 2012 to 2016. The starting point was the launch of Resolution SESA 188 of March 10, 2010, which provides the inclusion of the social name of transsexual and transvestite people in administrative documents in the state of Paraná. What motivated us was the concern of the effects of meaning produced by CGN. In this sense, the main objective was to analyze discursive formations, ideological formations and imaginary formations on transvestites in CGN discourse. For this research, were mobilized the theoretical assumptions of the Discourse Analysis of French orientation, based on Pêcheux. The analyzed meanings relegate the transvestite to a marginal and marginalized position, close to criminality and with its identity not always respected and/or understood by the information portal. Also in this research, we analyze how CGN brings in its discourse the social name of transvestites.

O desafio da masculinidade subalterna na travestilidade: a dor da beleza / The challenge of the transvestility in subaltern masculinity: the pain of beauty

Rosa, Mariléia Catarina 09 November 2012 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-28T20:38:34Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Marileia Catarina Rosa.pdf: 886852 bytes, checksum: 575d47addfda0799455593cc2e2d388c (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-11-09 / This paper discusses the constitution of subjectivity in transvestility from the subversion of the body adjusting it to a gender identity. It is a theoretical study, a literature review. Therefore, the construction of this work involved two steps: the first step was the literature review on the subject concerning the period of the last twelve years from the key descriptors found in online data basis (Web of Science, LILACS, MedLine, Bireme Portal.periodicos.Capes, PubMed, Scielo Brazil), and the second step was the participation of the researcher in events, on visits to institutions and in dialogues with experts in the field of transvestility. The research was guided by the theoretical framework of socio-historical Psychology. This perspective believes that the way we assume ourselves is related to our subjectivity, which is historically constructed by the subject in its historical, social and emotional relations, being the human psyche a flexible and malleable category, involving the dimensions of consciousness, activity and identity in which the phenomena of transvestility is understood. It is noticed that transvestility expresses a social and individual subjectivity that is constructed in a dialectical relationship, and that shows the complexity of historical, social, family and personal experiences. It expresses both a transformation of a genetically male body and the transformation of a gender identity opposite to the biological sex, which subverts the gender through sophisticated programming techniques such as hormone therapy, implantation of silicone and use of female clothing and accessories. It concludes that the transformation of the body in transvestility into a feminine image is perceived as a second skin which shows all its performance according to the beauty standards of hegemonic idealized feminine gender identity. The process of constitution of subjectivity is expressed by strangeness and by the complexity of changes in relation to the genetic body, by the construction of a gender identity according to the chosen gender, and consequently by using clothes and expressions of the body, consistent with this gender identity. This means that the constitution of subjectivity in transvestility cannot be described by an anatomical detail, but by a set of experiences that turn the transvestites into beings in a changing process, ranging from the destruction to the construction of a new body, with the challenges of the pain of beauty that is marked by moments and motivations of an individual socio-historical role, and that specifies the challenges in the constant transformation of the body, since the truth of gender is not written in the biological body, but in the many ways of constructing new meanings for genders / O presente trabalho pretende discutir a constituição da subjetividade na travestilidade a partir da subversão do corpo, adequando-o a identidade de gênero.

I seek to understand the existence of the pressure between this identity project and the creation of two categories, the older and younger, observing the detachment and existent approximation between different generation of transvestites, just like specific valuations of some bodies and behaviors from each one of them. The study realized in Sao Carlos and Ribeirao Preto undertook ethnography at the prostitution areas and the transvestites homes, combined with online contacts through social media like Facebook©. Based on Queer theory, the Brazilian studies about the travestite‟s and the the idea of "generationality" and aging, I seek the creation of particular idea of being young and aging as travestite for the ones that prostitute themselves. Seeing that for this group aging is not only related with the age but with a specific relationship with the body, the job market and the social relationships that develops and keep the environment where they live.

The investigation is instigated by two assumptions: 1) understanding the mainstream media as an institution integrated, and originated, in the capitalist system, it is the focus of complex struggles of/for power to influence the production of meanings and social representations – i.e., its a privileged space for the recognition of (in)existence and (in)visibility of voices, themes and worlds, thus collaborating in the reconstruction of reality; 2) in Brazilian society, transgender people are one of the political/identity groups that, on daily bases, experience social marginalization – structural, many of the transphobic/ cissexists violence they face are the result, and result, from / in the deletion of their voices, historically pathologized/ criminalized by 'official' knowledge (mostly built by medicine and psychological sciences, reproduced in various public and private spaces). Our hypothesis is that the media is, also, space of (re)production of violence and exclusion of transgender people - a hypothesis that at the end we found to be true. Thus, the work has three main objectives: 1) to analyze the discourses produced (jan.2014 - jan.2015) on Aqui PE and Jornal do Commercio (printed versions) about transsexuality(s); 2) through semi-structured interviews with some of those involved in news production (publishers of the analyzed books), provide clues about some of the conceptions of transsexuality circulating in newsroom and newspapers, as well as other variables that condition the construction of news topics; 3) tacking theories derived mainly from Journalism Theories, Critical Discourse Studies and Queer Studies, reflect on the possibilities of discursive change, therefore social changes, about transgenderity and, necessary- simultaneously, cisgenderity.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Tuanny.pdf: 67993195 bytes, checksum: 95028e53f0c6cf1e7ec70311b44782f8 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-03-30 / This paper analyzes the answers given by the Judiciary to the cases of name rectification and legal gender in the civil registry of transsexual people and travestis. The necessity of this study arises from the fact that the Brazilian legal system does not provide exceptions to situations where gender contrast with the information on identification documents, which is an experience that these individuals go through. On the opposite of what they are required to be, the transsexual people and the travestis live gender differently from the rules created in the context of heterosexism, which demand coherence and continuity among sex, gender and sexuality. The main objective consists of questioning the discourses produced in the juridical field by the magistrates responsible for the trial and consequently the ruling of these cases. To achieve that, this paper studies, through the analysis of documents and bibliographic reviews, some rulings that deal with the modification of data in the civil registry of transgenders. In the first chapter, the concepts of “discourse”, “power”, and “truth” are analyzed from the French Discourse Analysis point of view of Michel Foucault, presenting the ideas of Michel Miaille and Clemerson Merlin Clève with the purpose of understanding the discourse aspects of Law. In the second chapter, statements such as sex, gender, sexuality and transsexuality, are examined mainly through Judith Butler. In the third chapter, some rules that deal with the right to have a name, as well as the possibilities and the ways of modifying information from the civil registry are investigated. In addition, some Brazilian rulings related to this subject are analyzed through bibliographic review. In the end, the rulings given in the state of Maranhão are examined. The results of the research demonstrate that the state of Maranhão, contrasting with the national reality, has been partially given positive answers to the cases involving transsexual individuals, mainly through the recognition of the importance of the rectification to the travesties and the transsexual men and women who have not undergone the sex reassignment surgery.

Seis passeios pelas praias de uma ficção: notas sobre algumas movimentações de drag queens na cidade do Rio de Janeiro / Six walks in a fictional beaches: notes on some drives of drag queens in the city of Rio de Janeiro

Aureliano Lopes da Silva Junior 10 June 2011 (has links)
This paper aims to draw some brief notes on the contemporary drag queens' and other female impersonators artists movements, following what took place in the city of Rio de Janeiro during the years 2009 and 2010. Through a study of participant observation, I selected some sites and shows that could be representative of this art category, not intending to make an extensive survey of where they are or who these artists are. I name female impersonators artists those bodies which have the act of transvestiting themselves as central to their artistic and cultural construction/constitution, particularly building up corporalities based on a gender which is distinct from the birth-socially-identified one, e.g. drag queens, crossdresser actors, transvestites and transgender artists. Based on cartographic and ethnographic methods, I took the position of a spectator, that is, of a researcher-spectator, aiming at a connection with what drag queens and impersonators artists wish to make public, i.e., their concerts and shows. I followed various performances of this kind in theaters, nightclubs, bars and neighborhood clubs, as well as in other places in which they were present, as in Rio de Janeiro's LGBT Pride Parade and in some groups of Rio's carnival. Having also as a field of dialogue some postulates of Schizoanalysis - the theoretical model based mainly on contributions from Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari -, I meant to situate and affirm the drag queens and the female impersonation art within the studies of gender and sexuality, especially within those more closely related to manifestations of a camp subculture and gay or homosexual culture.

Investing in the French Discourse Analysis as a semantic theory specifically by the considerations from Michel Pêcheux (2008), for whom the discourse is the relationship between the language and the history we will say that the body is constructed by discursive practices performed by individuals in the creation of identities and the subjectivation process. Our objective is to analyze some imagetical enunciated that show the body of the transvestite, and how it, by discursive practices, transforms and conceive itself as Subject, creating an identity, reiterating it (or not) by the discursive memories established for gender and sex. As a corpus, we have some snippet of enunciated (verbals and non-verbals) compounds, mostly by posters of events to the public transgender where it can see the exhibition of the body. So we ask: why this body and not another, when the gender standard is normatively binary? For Queer Theory (BENTO, 2006), the transvestite destabilizes such standard, runs through cracks and invents its way of life: Transvestity. Thus, it is in the excavation of speeches - where we weaving around the Transvestite memories - which we are led, as readers, to recognize the signs that show us the transvestite, establishing an indiciary paradigm (GINZBURG, 2009) and noting, by intericonicity (COURTINE, 2006), as the repetition of iconic utterances in the transvestite's body causes that abnormal individual (FOUCAULT, 2008) is recognized and interpreted as having this way of being and this identity.

The aim was to unveil the senses of the transsexual and transvestite being in front of the care given by SUS professionals. Study of a qualitative approach, based on the Phenomenology of Martin Heidegger, carried out in a municipality of the Zona da Mata Mineira. Through the use of the snowball sampling, ten participants who declared themselves transsexual or transvestite and who use at least one health service offered in the SUS were included in this study. Phenomenological meetings were guided by the use of an open interview. Essential structures emerged, constituting four Units of Significance. A vague and meditative understanding of meanings allowed the construction of the guiding thread, which led to Hermeneutics. The experience of transsexuals and transvestites was unveiled when they expressed aspects that supported the construction and maintenance of the feminine in face of socially imposed standards, the importance of the use and acceptance of the social name by health professionals, their daily experiences when using health services with the experience of transphobia and also by stressing the importance of their social networks for the process of transformation to the body desired and the unpreparedness of health professionals in support of this desire. The lives of transsexuals and transvestites are permeated by denial of rights, omission of care, stigmatizations and constraints, as well as various forms of violence. It is recommended that training in gender and sexuality be addressed during vocational training, offering the opportunity for graduates to meet the needs of this often invisible population.
