No. of bitstreams: 1 4852.pdf: 1129647 bytes, checksum: 850dbd52c7c030d8a9a9c16b20580e60 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-02-15 / Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais / The aim of this study was to understand, from the experience of four young people who at some point in research called themselves transvestites , residing in São Carlos (SP), the main techniques and strategies used by them for the management and manipulation of their own characteristics regarding their body, subjectivity and identity, in order to participate in certain spaces of sociability, focusing on family contexts, formal education institutions and also prostitution. The work has been organized into four sections. Initially, it introduces an historical debate and academic production about the topic related to gender and sexuality, then it addresses entrance to the search field, from ethnographic contributions and, finally, to contextualize the territories where the research took place. The second section considers the multiplicity of ways to consider and to construct signs of what is considered feminine in bodies assigned as male. Additionally, it presents the history of each interlocutor of this research, trying to point out their unique experiences in these body, subjective and identity building processes. In the third section, we discuss the different techniques and strategies used by them to participate in different contexts such as family, school and prostitution, and how these relations are built depending on the persons involved, as well as their interests and desires. And lastly, contextualizes the propositions of social occupational therapy and its possible implications in everyday life of the individuals in their territories belonging, pointing out how the circulation of these young people in their territories have repercussions on the levels of insertion and restriction, allowing or not their existences in different spaces. It is believed that this dissertation contributes, beyond the multiplicity of forms of construction and understanding bodies, subjectivities and transvestites identities, with a dialogue among the possible links between social occupational therapy and circulation of individuals in their territories belonging.

Santos, Joseylson Fagner dos 26 November 2012 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2014-12-17T13:54:50Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 JoseylsonFS_DISSERT_capa_pag209.pdf: 3245188 bytes, checksum: 4b076b4e873e6cc16ab7ec6ceb1c2c79 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-11-26 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior / The paper presents a discussion about gender and body in the drag queens experience at Natal city (RN). From the different concepts that characterizes the identity processes on subjects who perform gender transformation (transvestites, transsexuals and female impersonators), the justification for studying the drag character is observed as a means to understand matters that are important when you take such a position. Therefore, there is a need for a linkage between the various concepts responsible for this definition, in addition to considering the historical and cultural process responsible for the creation of such categories, identities and stereotypes among these individuals. In this sense it will be possible to carry out a critical analysis on the different social loads present in each representation, and understand what is at stake in the attribution of classifications and terminologies that are applied to different expressions of metamorphosis. This ethnography considers the debate from a field research conducted at LGBT social establishments and other performance spaces of these people, verifying their dynamics in these places and investigating relationships between performers, personas and characters and also backstage scene in which they participate / O texto apresenta uma discuss?o sobre corpo e g?nero na experi?ncia de drag queens na cidade de Natal (RN).

Mariconas : itinerários da velhice travesti, (des)montagens e (in)visibilidades

Nogueira, Francisco Jander de Sousa 19 April 2013 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2015-05-14T13:27:07Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 3834290 bytes, checksum: 60d99549df5db97c86d3cb5394adf551 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-04-19 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / This thesis aims to understand how the subjects that are identified as "mariconas", "Irenes", "aunts" and "old fags" deal with the processes of aging and old age. I seek to further analyze from the biographical narratives (KOFES, 2001), the meanings and the senses that are attributed to their bodies. Faced with new social and body itineraries multiple devices are triggered _ in order to "camouflage" and "circumvent" the prejudice accumulated inside the experience, due to the stigma for being transvestites and now in the condition of elderly. In old age transvestite, social and cultural elements begin to question the existence of a chronological, biological and generational, not even denying the completely. The transvestites that somehow are linked to prostitution, when they survive the streets and violence, built others spaces of sociability. Although marked by silence and invisibility, they create and pass through other places, as new spaces of prostitution, the own house, by militancy, and still build subterfuge, which allow them to move more fluidly and exercise their sexual practices. This ethnographic study was woven from a field survey in Fortaleza and Lisbon, through semi-structured interviews and participant observation / floating (MALINOWSKI, 1978; GOLDMAN, 1995) in bars, nightclubs, cafes, saunas, porn cinemas , households, associations, health services and in the streets and avenues where transvestite routinely prostitutes . In this regard, we note that the bodies of the old transvestites eventually present itself as fields flows and intensities that makes us doubt every fact that you are drawn to. Intend limits. Fissuring structures. Cleaving senses and break the linearity and the challenges that aging can be a place of privileged challenge to gender and sexuality norms as they realize that every moment transvestites build up and rebuild themselves from the experience device (SCOTT, 2009; FOUCAULT, 2001).

Scherer, Fernanda 04 March 2016 (has links)
Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul / This dissertation is chacaracterized as a study of media consumption wich articulates the senses formulated in Mundo T-Girl, an online Facebook community mainly composed of transsexuals women and travestis, their context and gender relation. Theoretically, we base ourselves in the perspective of Cultural Consumption, to assert that every consumer has a symbolic dimension subordinate to culture, revealing the meaning structures of social life. Methodologically, the research is configured as an ethnography in online context. The empirical field is Mundo T-Girl, a community on Facebook composed of transsexual women and travestis. We defined as the object of study the comments made about the celebrities. Our problem is to discover the senses that integrate and distinguish transsexual women and travestis. The main objective is to investigate the reasons why its members belong to this online space. For this, we conducted an analysis of the meanings formulated in the consumption of celebrities classified into two major groups: a) rights and political representation; b) gender roles. As results, we realize that the integrative practices in the community includes the adjustment to the current standard of femininity, as well as the discussion of a political project that consider their demands for social inclusion. At the same time, they seek to define the symbolic distance between themselves and women whose behaviors violate the conservative models of gender, as well as the part of society that does not consider them as political beings.
