Preservação e sustentabilidade: restaurações e retrofits / Preservation and sustainability: restorations and retrofitsRoberto Toffoli Simoens da Silva 20 September 2013 (has links)
A matéria é atual e urgente. / The fields of the Historical Monument Preservation and the Sustainability in the Civil Construction, although distinct, present certain degree of integration. They are areas that share of eminently collective processes in the advance of the knowledge, and that if contemporaries consecrate as important cultural traditions for the confrontation of the deterioration of the urban spaces. The substance is current and urgent. However, the debate on the architectural project in this area is incipient. How to evaluate the current interventions in degraded buildings? Which the relevance of the Theory of the Restoration and Sustainability in the construction of the recent cultural scenario? How to reintegrate abandoned buildings to the urban dynamics? These are complex issues that deserve attention. Therefore we consider the analysis of three interventions in eclectic buildings in the city of São Paulo, and whose strategies of occupation keep it summons usual relation with the adoption of uses and occupations. We will debate, therefore, a residential project - the condominium Américo Simões, and two academicals buildings - the Institute Oscar Freire of the College of Medicine of the USP, and the FAU - Vila Penteado, of the same university. Each in case were analyzed through a system of values, where the individual and collective dimensions of projects are articulated in intention to produce a vision of set of the proposals. The first value is called cultural, that is, it has its definitions attributed to the historical and aesthetic research and attributes to the real properties common values of interest to all the society. As, on the other hand, it receives the name from authorial value and turns it the recognition of the contemporary decisions, of the responsible architect for the proposal, and that they are gifts in the party architectural of the restorations. Of our point of view this methodology offers to learning possibilities technician and ethical of this debate in particular, where we believe to be desirable the approach enters the trends of Preservation and Sustainability in the architectural projects.

A variabilidade espacial no sítio Osvaldo : estudo de um assentamento da Tradição Barrancóide na Amazônia Central / Spatial variability in the Osvaldo site : study of a settlement of the Barrancoid Tradition in Central AmazoniaRicardo Andres Chirinos Portocarrero 11 April 2007 (has links)
The present work is an attempt to develop new methodologies for the understanding of the use of the internal space in archeological hinterland (terra firme) sites in Central Amazon. For decades, several investigators have debated the variability of these settlements (Meggers, Latrhap, Myers, Roosevelt, Heckenberger and Neves, among others). Our case study is the Osvaldo site, located between Solimões and Negro rivers at the South margin of Limão lake. This site internally displays heterogeneous areas with different depths of anthropogenic terra preta and variable density of pottery fragments culturally linked to the Barrancoid Tradition / Manacapuru phase and Paredão phase. The spatial clustering analysis and the composítional pattern show similarities and differences among the mentioned areas, presenting internal social complexity, of which the observation, from ethnographical analogies, is relevant not only for the intra-site problematic but also for the discussion on the relations among sites at regional level and for understanding the migratory movements of pre-columbian populations.

This research examines the role of food-producing trade in fighting against poverty in the rural households of Mvila division in Cameroon. Subsistence agriculture appears to be the principal production activity in the target villages 80% of the active population interviewed is involved in such activities. For a long time, self-consumption has been the main orientation of crop production. However, food-producing trade has gained a lot of economic importance these last years. By so doing farmers find alternative income source after cocoa price has dropped while the urban population, not involved in agriculture, has significantly increased. Regardless of the motivations behind the choice of farmers, food-producing trade leads to income diversification and financial power aiming at improving the living conditions of rural people. Since 1960, the central government of Cameroon has been trying to change believes that restrict food crop production to self-consumption in the households. The crucial economic crisis associated with agricultural export products led to Food-producing trade intensification. This objective has been accompanied by Common Group Initiative (CGI) encouragement and other financing subsidy bodies in the rural areas. It is however worthy noticing that, the villages of Mvila division are far to emerge in income generating activities as many households are still timid in adopting food-producing trade. Therefore, the contribution of such activities to poverty reduction is still insufficient. This kind of contradiction can be justified by several factors, including farmer dependence on cocoa farming or farmer fatigue on agriculture and marketing in general. This situation is also sustained by the lack of modernization of the productive and commercial food crop equipments. That global environment leads to decrease of agricultural production volumes and economic return while the risks increase in rural areas. Although some farmer organizations obtain good results, the scale of the current challenges greatly restricts the feasibility of rural households' poverty alleviation initiatives.

Daňové příjmy obcí v době hospodářské krize / Municipal tax revenues during the economic crisis.Hartmann, Petr January 2010 (has links)
The thesis analyses the real estate tax in the municipalities of Řevnice, Lety, Dobřichovice, Čisovice and Všenory during the period 2009 -- 2011. It focuses on the legal powers by which the municipalities may affect the amount of property tax revenue and the extent of their application. Moreover, there is an analysis evaluating the possibility of gaining an additional income from the property tax, in order to offset the deficit caused by the financial or economic crisis. The thesis is divided into four chapters. In the first chapter, there are listed the characteristics of income municipalities, the second chapter is devoted to property tax with an emphasis on the legislative framework; in the third chapter, there is an analysis of property tax revenue in the above listed municipalities, and the final chapter presents and summarizes the analysis results.

Interweaving History: The Texas Textile Mill and McKinney, Texas, 1903-1968.Kilgore, Deborah Katheryn 08 1900 (has links)
Texas textile mills comprise an untold part of the modern South. The bulk of Texas mills were built between 1890 and 1925, a compressed period of expansion in contrast to the longer developmental pattern of mills in the rest of the United States. This compression meant that Texas mill owners benefited from knowledge gained from mill expansion elsewhere, and owners ran their mills along the same lines as the dominant southeastern model. Owners veered from the established pattern when conditions warranted. This case study focuses on three mills in Texas that operated both independently and as a corporation for a total of sixty years. One mill in McKinney dominated the economy of a small town and serves as the primary focus of this paper. A second mill in Waco served a diversified economy in the center of the state; and the third mill, built in Dallas was concentrated in a major city in a highly competitive job market. All three of these mills will illuminate the single greatest difference between Texas mills and mills elsewhere, the composition of the labor force. Women did not dominate the mill labor force in Texas nor did children, except in limited cases, make-up a large portion of the workers. Today mill studies of southern mills have found only scattered textile factories with a preponderance of male employees, but in Texas this was the norm. This study demonstrates the unique features of McKinney's textile mill and its similarities to other mills in Texas and in the southeast.
