The goal with this exam project is to take as much knowledge as possible from earlier courses I’ve taken at the webdevelopment program at Mid Sweden University and use this knowledge for a project for a company working with webdevelopment. I’ve chosen to do my exam project for David Törner Web agency who’s main goals are to work with Content Management Systems, (CMS). I’ve developed a custom theme and a webstore in the CMS WordPress with the plugin WooCommerce, a plugin that connects webstores with WordPress sites for easier administration and management of products. The webstore is selling bikes in the categories mountain bikes, enduro and downhill bikes, specially black bikes with high quality and it works as a demonstration of a webstore to show other companies what we are able to offer if they choose us to do a webstore in WordPress. The webstore also offers service on the bikes that the customer can book by themselves through the contact form. The design and foundation for the webstore have been designed and developed in the program Adobe XD in the form of moodboards, wireframes and design sketches and then coded in the program Visual Studio Code, (VSC) with the program language HyperText Preprocessor, (PHP), HyperText Markup Language, (HTML), Cascading Style Sheets, (CSS) and JavaScript. The design and the foundation of the webpages have been connected to WordPress and the webstore plugin WooCommerce and the webstore has been published online through a public webhosting service. / Syftet med detta examensarbete är att ta så mycket som möjligt utav kunskapen från tidigare kurser i webbutvecklingsprogrammet på Mittuniversitetet och applicera denna kunskap i ett arbete åt ett företag som inriktar sig inom webbutveckling. Jag har valt att göra mitt examensarbete åt David Törners Webbyrå som inriktar sig specifikt på webbsidor skapade med Content Management Systems, (CMS). Jag har utvecklat ett tema samt en webbutik i CMS:et WordPress med tillägget WooCommerce, som är ett tillägg som kopplar samman webbutiker med WordPressidor för enklare administrering samt hantering utav webbutiken och varorna. Webbutiken inriktar sig på försäljning utav cyklar inom kategorierna mountainbikes, enduro- samt downhill-cyklar, specifikt svarta och högkvalitativa cyklar samt fungerar som en demonstrations-webbutik att visa upp för företag som exempel på vad de skulle kunna få om de väljer en webbutik gjord i WordPress. Webbutiken erbjuder även service utav cyklar och att kunden via kontaktformulär kan boka sin service. The objective of this study is to start understanding SEO when you are a web developer to help increase your knowledge to be able to offer more for your costumers. It aims to look at the bigger picture and try to touch a lot of areas within SEO without going in deep into every part. This study has taken help from several blogs and sources about SEO, mainly from the internet, to build a base of knowledge to put in to the implementation. And to test the results several SEO tools have been used, such as Google Analytics, Siteliner and Googles structured data testing. All tools for measuring different parts of SEO. Also a user experience test has been conducted to understand how visitors navigate to find information on the site and what roll content value has in SEO. To understand how to implement SEO in both code and content this study has 2 projects in its aim, one being translating posts and making sure the SEO is up to part for a medical blog and the other developing a website for a drop-in solarium business and implementing SEO into it. This study goes from braking down parts of SEO, explaining them whiteout going too deep, implementing them in both content and code and to finish testing and analyzing it.

Today there are a large number of plugins available for WordPress to manage various types of content and many of them work really well. However, one problem is that the user only gets the control that the plugin creator has allowed from the beginning. This project which uses the name JBlocks is made for the web development agency Fostira AB and is about the development of a Gutenberg block plugin for WordPress. Based on the company's requirements I have applied what I have learned from Webbutvecklingsprogrammet at Mid Sweden University. The main purpose of this project is to facilitate the company's daily production by providing full control over both the plugin and the blocks they mostly work with. This will reduce the workload and the time it takes to learn or configure possibly several different plugins. Hopefully this will also reduce the stress that may be associated with those tasks. My plugin consists of the most common blocks and it uses the same stylesheet to make it easier to customize the content for each specific customer. It is designed to be easily built upon by Fostira's developers if they need to in the future. The report describes all the different phases of the work from planning and the methods used to the construction and the final result. / Idag finns det en stor mängd plugins tillgängliga för WordPress för att hantera olika typer av innehåll och många av dem är väldigt bra. Ett problem är dock att användaren bara får den kontroll som skaparen av pluginen tillåtit från början. Detta projektarbete som går under arbetsnamnet JBlocks är utfört åt webbyrån Fostira AB och handlar om utvecklingen av en plugin för Gutenbergblock i WordPress. Utifrån företagets krav har jag tillämpat mina kunskaper från Webbutvecklingsprogrammet via Mittuniversitetet. Arbetets huvudsyfte är att underlätta företagets verksamhet genom att ge full kontroll över både pluginen och blocken som dom oftast jobbar med. Målet är att minska arbetsbördan för de anställda och reducera tiden de behöver spendera på att lära sig eller konfigurera plugins. Tanken är också att detta ska minska den stress som detta kan leda till. Mitt plugin består av de vanligaste blocken och använder en och samma stilmall för att enklare kunna anpassa innehållet åt varje specifik kund. Den är skapad för att på ett lättbegripligt sätt kunna byggas på av Fostiras utvecklare i framtiden om behovet av fler block skulle uppstå. Rapporten beskriver alla arbetets olika faser från planering och de metoder som använts till konstruktionen och det färdiga resultatet.

This report describes my work with a website for a company that helps other companies book conferences. Creating this website, I have worked from a Mobile First perspective to create an interface. The interface was then tested on potential users. I then used guidelines from Googles own documentation on search engine optimization. The purpose of this work is to create and deliver a website where users can turn to MH Konferens and let them handle booking and planning of their conferences. / Denna rapport beskriver arbetet med en webbplats för ett företag som jobbar med att boka konferenser åt andra företag. Jag har i framtagandet av webbplatsen utgått från Mobile First och skapat ett gränssnitt. Gränssnittet har sedan testats på användare och slutligen har jag utgått från Googles egen dokumentation för att optimera webbplatsen för sökmotorer. Syftet med arbetet är att skapa en webbplats som leder till att användare kan vända sig till MH konferens och låta dem ta hand om bokning och planering av deras konferenser.

This paper aims to examine what the differences is between the three application types, native, hybrid and web. The main focus will be placed on the web app and investigate whether it could be an alternative to native and hybrid app. To explain what a web app has the capacity to do, a web app is created in wordpress. Web development is moving forward, which is obviously positive. The problem may be, however, for companies that come from a completely different industry and who wish to develop a new web solution for their company. A native app can be a very expensive investment and it is far from all companies that can pay this. This study wants to find out if a web app, could be an alternative to the native app. Furthermore, the report will examine what the possibilities are for a web app and what existing web apps there is today. Furthermore, a simple price comparison between the different app types to be made. / Den här rapporten syftar till att undersöka vad skillnaden är mellan de tre applikationstyperna, native, hybrid och webb. Störst fokus kommer att placeras på webb appen och undersöka om denna skulle kunna vara ett alternativ till native och hybrid appen. För att redogöra vad en webb app har kapacitet att göra kommer en webb app att skapas i wordpress. Webbutvecklingen går framåt vilket självklart är positivt. Problemet som kan bli är dock för företag som kommer från en helt annan bransch och som önskar ta fram en ny webb-lösning för sitt företag. En native app kan vara en väldigt dyr investering och det är långt ifrån alla företag som kan betala detta. Denna undersökning vill reda ut om en webb app kan var ett alternativ till native appen. Vidare kommer rapporten undersöka vad det finns för möjligheter för en webb app och vad det finns för webb appar idag. Dessutom kommer en enklare prisjämförelse mellan de olika apptyperna att göras.

The IT industry is constantly evolving and it's more or less a requirement today for web developers to be familiar with and to be able to develop for all platforms. A technique that has taken hold and is now widely used is responsive design. Developing responsive design means adapting the layout to the viewing environment; the screen size. Another useful method when developing for different devices is the mobile first theory, which means developing for the mobile screen first. This is done to scale down the site and to clear unnecessary information in order to provide a better user experience. In this work we have developed a new design for the site greenb.se, using the mobile first theory to create a responsive website.

Cette thèse porte sur la production des blogs journalistiques hébergés sur les sites web des quotidiens nationaux français et québécois. L’objectif de la recherche est d’identifier et de caractériser la zone d’incertitude maîtrisée par les journalistes en vue de réaliser les blogs. Cette réalisation s’inscrit dans un contexte économique en grande transformation et s’effectue dans des organisations qui prônent la division du travail en multitâche. La méthodologie consiste en la réalisation de 52 entretiens semi-directifs avec des journalistes et des responsables de blogs actifs au 1er avril 2014 dans 12 titres français et québécois ; des analyses techniques et informatiques du logiciel WordPress ; d’une analyse de contenu des blogs et des quotidiens ; et des observations en ligne des blogs.Les principaux résultats montrent que la réalisation d’un blog s’effectue par l’instauration d’un concept éditorial porteur auquel les journalistes s’identifient à la fois de manière professionnelle et personnelle. Dans le cadre de la production, les animateurs établissent des routines individuelles (sélection des sujets et rédaction des textes) et négocient des routines collectives (révision, mise en ligne et gestion des commentaires) avec des employés divers (secrétaires de rédaction, community managers, etc.) travaillant pour le quotidien. Le recours à ces autres acteurs permet aux journalistes de les libérer de ces tâches spécialisées et éreintantes. / This thesis examines the production of journalistic blogs on French and Quebec national dailies’ websites. The objective of this research is to identify and characterise the zone of uncertainty controlled by journalists in order to realise blogs. This realisation is part of an economic context in great transformation and takes place in organisations that advocate multitasking.The methodology consists of the implementation of 52 semi-structured interviews with journalists and those responsible for active blogs on 1 April 2014, in 12 French and Quebec newspapers; technical and computer analysis of the software WordPress; a content analysis of blogs and newspapers; and online observations of blogs.The main results show that the creation of a blog is carried out by the establishment of a leading editorial concept to which journalists identify themselves both in a professional and personal way. As part of the production, journalists establish individual routines (selection of topics and drafting of texts) and negotiate collective routines (reviewing, uploading and comment management) with various employees (subeditors, community managers, etc.) working for the newspaper. The use of these other actors allows journalists to free themselves from these specialised and gruelling tasks.

Detta arbete undersöker om existerande Multi-siteapplikationer i CMS-systemet WordPress kan uppnå bättre prestanda genom att övergå från WordPress till det nya CMS-systemet Keystone JS genom en datamigration. Denna migrationsprocess utvärderas med ett vetenskapligt experiment, för att undersöka om migrationsprocessen i sig eventuellt kan medföra prestandaproblem, men också kring när en migration är relevant och i slutändan värd att genomföra. Experimentet mäter svarstider för olika databasoperationer av den originella WordPress-applikationen samt den migrerade Keystone JS-applikationen. Resultatet av mätningen visade att den migrerade applikationen kan uppnå upp till 59% förbättrade svarstider för subdomänrendering, vilket bekräftar att Multi-siteapplikationer kan gynnas av en migration till Keystone JS. Migrationsprocessen ansågs heller inte ha någon individuell negativ prestandapåverkan.

Denna rapport beskriver skapandeprocessen av webbsidan aiducate.se, vars syfte är att stötta, motivera och vägleda gymnasieelever i sin utbildning. Projektet genomfördes självständigt utan någon uppdragsgivare och pågick under en tidsperiod om tio veckor. Till grund låg en förundersökning som visade på bristande motivation hos gymnasieelever. I en kompletterande enkätundersökning fastställdes det att eleverna önskade en modernisering av utbildningen med utrymme för nutida undervisningsmetoder. Som ett komplement till gymnasieutbildningen framställdes därför innovationen Aiducate som i framtiden ska omfatta olika verktyg för studierna. Allt från hur man skriver en rapport till hur man får inspiration. Inom ramen för detta examensarbete presenterades en enklare betaversion av webbsidan. Detta omfattade en fullständig grafisk profil, responsiv design och vissa funktioner såsom exempelvis forum och användarkonto. Rapporten följer även utvecklingen av webbsidan i det populära CMS-verktyget WordPress. Teoretisk bakgrund har förankrat alla slutgiltiga beslut för webbsidans design och funktion, vilket även återkopplats genom användartester. / This report describes the creative process of the website aiducate.se, which purpose is to support, motivate and guide high school students in their education. The project was conducted independently without any employers and lasted for a period of ten weeks. The basis of the project was a prior study that showed a lack of motivation among high school students. A supplementary survey showed that the students wanted to modernize the education with contemporary teaching methods. As a complement to high school education, the innovation Aiducate was made which in the future will include various tools for the studies. Everything from how to write a report to how to get inspiration. Within the framework of this thesis a simpler beta version of the website was presented. This included a complete graphic profile, responsive design and some features such as a forum and user account. The report also follows the development of the website in the popular CMS tool WordPress. Theoretical background has anchored all final decisions for the website’s design and function, which also reconnects through user testing.

Denna rapport redovisar utvecklingen av en tjänst för att lättare kunna söka praktikplats och praktikanter. Tjänsten utvecklades som ett eget projekt att senare kunna visas upp som ett förslag för intressenter av verktyg som detta. Utvecklingen har följt dagens principer för användbarhetsdesign och upplevelsedesign. Målet har under hela utvecklingsperioden varit att skapa något som speglar denna tids trender och applikationer för möten. Resultatet av detta projekt har landat i en hifi prototyp, grafisk profil samt konceptbeskrivning för hur tjänsten ska fungera och användas. Denna prototyp kommer senare att utvecklas och skapas som en webbapplikation. / This report accounts the development of a service to make it easier for students to get an internship. The web application is a self-developed project meant to be later be presented for companies interested in similar areas as this. The development follows the principles of usability and experience design. The goal during the process has the hole time been to create a something that follow this eras trends for meeting applications. The result ended in a wellstructured hifi prototype, a graphic profile guide as well as a concept for further development of the service. The prototype will in the next step be developed into a real web application.
