Gentleman : a lightweight web-based projectional editorLafontant, Louis-Edouard 11 1900 (has links)
web. / In software activities and, more specifically, when modeling, the modeler should benefit from as much freedom as possible to understand the presented information and take action with minimal cognitive and mechanical effort. This characteristic should also apply to the tools used in the process so that they extend our capabilities rather than limit them. In the field of software engineering, current work aims to push the level of abstraction past general-purpose programming language into domain-specific modeling. This enables domain experts with various backgrounds to participate in software development activities. This vision is central to model-driven engineering (MDE) where, instead of code, various experts and users produce and manipulate domain-specific language (DSL). In recent years, projectional editing has proven to be a valid approach to creating and manipulating DSLs, as it supports various easily interchangeable notations and enables language extension and composition. However, current solutions are heavyweight, platform-specific, and suffer from poor usability.
To better support this paradigm and minimize the risk of accidental complexity in terms of expressiveness, in this thesis, we introduce Gentleman, a lightweight web-based projectional editor. With Gentleman, a developer creates a model by combining concepts used to define its structure and projections to interact and manipulate them in the editor. We have evaluated Gentleman through a user study. The evaluation confirmed its capacity to create and manipulate models effectively. Most participants noted that the editor is very user-friendly and intuitive compared to existing editors. We have also successfully integrated Gentleman into a web application, demonstrating its interoperability and the benefit of a web solution.

Informationsaustausch im interdisziplinären EntwicklungsprozessHolowenko, Olaf, Oehm, Lukas, Majschak, Jens-Peter, Ihlenfeldt, Steffen 17 May 2018 (has links)

NPS AUV workbench: collaborative environment for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) mission planning and 3D visualizationLee, Chin Siong 03 1900 (has links)
Approved for public release, distribution is unlimited / alities. The extensible Markup Language (XML) is used for data storage and message exchange, Extensible 3D (X3D) Graphics for visualization and XML Schema-based Binary Compression (XSBC) for data compression. The AUV Workbench provides an intuitive cross-platform-capable tool with extensibility to provide for future enhancements such as agent-based control, asynchronous reporting and communication, loss-free message compression and built-in support for mission data archiving. This thesis also investigates the Jabber instant messaging protocol, showing its suitability for text and file messaging in a tactical environment. Exemplars show that the XML backbone of this open-source technology can be leveraged to enable both human and agent messaging with improvements over current systems. Integrated Jabber instant messaging support makes the NPS AUV Workbench the first custom application supporting XML Tactical Chat (XTC). Results demonstrate that the AUV Workbench provides a capable testbed for diverse AUV technologies, assisting in the development of traditional single-vehicle operations and agent-based multiple-vehicle methodologies. The flexible design of the Workbench further encourages integration of new extensions to serve operational needs. Exemplars demonstrate how in-mission and post-mission event monitoring by human operators can be achieved via simple web page, standard clients or custom instant messaging client. Finally, the AUV Workbench's potential as a tool in the development of multiple-AUV tactics and doctrine is discussed. / Civilian, Singapore Defence Science and Technology Agency

Utilization of forward error correction (FEC) techniques with extensible markup language (XML) schema-based binary compression (XSBC) technologyNorbraten, Terry D. 12 1900 (has links)
Approved for public release, distribution is unlimited / In order to plug-in current open sourced, open standard Java programming technology into the building blocks of the US Navy's ForceNet, first, stove-piped systems need to be made extensible to other pertinent applications and then a new paradigm of adopting extensible and cross-platform open technologies will begin to bridge gaps with old and new weapons systems. The battle-space picture in real time and with as much detail, or as little detail needed is now a current vital requirement. Access to this information via wireless laptop technology is here now. Transmission of data to increase the resolution of that battle-space snapshot will invariably be through noisy links. Noisy links such as found in the shallow water littoral regions of interest will be where Autonomous Underwater and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (AUVs/UUVs) are gathering intelligence for the sea warrior in need of that intelligence. The battle-space picture built from data transmitted within these noisy and unpredictable acoustic regions demands efficiency and reliability features abstract to the user. To realize this efficiency Extensible Markup Language (XML) Schema-based Binary Compression (XSBC), in combination with Vandermode-based Forward Error Correction (FEC) erasure codes, offer the qualities of efficient streaming of plain text XML documents in a highly compressed form, and a data self-healing capability should there be loss of data during transmission in unpredictable transmission mediums. Both the XSBC and FEC libraries detailed in this thesis are open sourced Java Application Program Interfaces (APIs) that can be readily adapted for extensible, cross-platform applications that will be enhanced by these desired features to add functional capability to ForceNet for the sea warrior to access on demand, at sea and in real-time. These features will be presented in the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) Workbench (AUVW) Java-based application that will become a valuable tool for warriors involved with Undersea Warfare (UW). / Lieutenant, United States Navy

Analýza účinků zkratového proudu v rozváděči / Analysis of effects of short-circuit current in switchgear cabinetProkop, Jan January 2015 (has links)
The work is focusing on dynamic effects of short-circuit currents, more precisely dynamic effects of short-circuit currents on switchgear cabinet (terminal box). The work was designated to a concrete construction type of two switchgear cabinets located on rotating machines via company Siemens Electric Machines Drásov s.r.o.. The switchgear cabinets are designed for non-explosive environment where the air is used as an insulating medium. The task was to determine how the device will behave during the three-phase short-circuit and three-phase short-circuit with earth/ground connection. The following programs were used for the calculations and simulations: Ansoft Maxwell 16.0, Ansoft Maxwell 2015 and ANSYS Workbench 16.0. By using these programs the effects of forces which acts on current paths in cabinet caused by the passage of short-circuit current were simulated, statically and also dynamically. Further the effects of pressure acting on cabinet frame during the arc short-circuit have been statically and dynamically simulated. All the results are summarized in the conclusion. Conclusion also contains the final evaluation of the functionality of both switchgear cabinets.

Analýza mechanického namáhání při zkratu ve vzduchem izolovaném rozváděči vn / Analysis of Mechanical Stress during Short Circuit in an Air-Insulated MV SwitchgearBártů, Jan January 2017 (has links)
This Master thesis is based on problems of force effects of the magnetic field of short-circuit current. Firstly, I analysed the force action of the three phase busbars during the three-pole short circuit. The analysis was performed in the Ansys Maxwell program and I verified the correctness of the analysis by numerical calculation. The second practical part was executed for ABB company. The main task was to analyse the force effects of the short-circuit current in the HV switchgear with focusing on the arms and contact system of the circuit breaker. The simulations of the following configurations were performed in more details: three configurations of the simplified VD4 circuit breaker, two types of VD4 circuit-breaker contact systems and a linear circuit breaker configuration model. The objective was to calculate the forces acting on the current path of the arms and contact system of the VD4 circuit breaker during the three-phase short-circuit and to simulate the effects of forces on these current parts. For modelling of individual assemblies, calculations and simulations I used: SolidWorks 2014, Ansys Maxwell 16.0 and Ansys Workbench 14.5 programs. With SolidWorks 2014 3D CAD software were modelled simplified assemblies of circuit breakers and contact systems. These systems were imported into the Ansys Maxwell software, where the force effects of the magnetic field of the short-circuit current were calculated. In Ansys Workbench programme was simulated the effect of forces on the current circuit breakers. Moreover, the final deformations of the materials (with respect to the mechanical properties of the structure) were plotted. The analysis of force effects of the magnetic field was performed for the specified static short - circuit current value.

When is Electric Freight Cost Competitive? : Computational modeling and simulation of total cost of ownership for electric truck fleets / När är elektrisk varutransport kostnadskonkurrenskraftig?
Battery electric trucks (BETs) offer environmental benefits in terms of reduced carbon emissions and enhanced energy efficiency but have been challenged with economic viability compared to conventional internal combustion engine trucks (ICETs) caused by substantial acquisition costs, limited charging infrastructure, and concerns regarding range and payload capacity. Previous studies focus on TCO at the vehicle or policy level but overlook the system and firm-level impacts. Operational aspects like vehicle utilization, battery utilization, charging planning, and route optimization are often ignored, potentially underestimating electric freight cost-competitiveness.The research gap does not address the practical needs of fleet operators, especially in scenarios where charging infrastructure is lacking. There is therefore a need to consider the complex system level interactions, market dynamics, technology developments, and operational processes involved in freight shipping. By applying a decision-making under deep uncertainty (DMDU) framework, this study enables informed decisions in unpredictable scenarios, bridging the gap between strategic choices like battery capacity and operational optimization like route planning. This study identifies the most significant factors that affect the TCO of BET fleets and cost-competitiveness relative to ICET fleets, taking into account market-operational interfaces between unpredictable market dynamics and operational processes such as stochastic demand and feature selection from a strategic and operational perspective. 40 tonne truck-trailers for freight distribution networks with distances up to 250 km are considered in the study. A TCO model of BET and ICET fleets was developed taking into account vehicle route optimization, vehicle selection, and vehicle utilization which was then programmatically iterated by sampling and simulating optimized vehicle routes for a total of 220 224 iterations. The parameter space was screened and reduced with Feature Scoring using Extra Trees approximation of 1st order Sobol Indices. The reduced parameter space was then sampled using Sobol sampling to conduct a Sobol Global Variance decomposition Analysis of TCO, TCO delta, and service level in order to identify the most significant factors affecting BET fleet TCO and cost-competitiveness.To identify cost-competitive scenarios, the Patient Rule Induction Method (PRIM) was used to identify parameter sub spaces to determine scenarios where BET fleets have a lower TCO than ICET fleets. Further visual analysis was done using linear and polynomial regression and kernel density estimation. The analysis shows that both TCO and cost-competitiveness of BETs are primarily affected by shipment demand, distance between distribution center and delivery sites, and battery size, and that a trade-off is made between cost-competitiveness and service level. The results show that cost-competitiveness of electric freight scales with demand, with larger fleets being better able to optimize routing and shipment allocation; balancing the shipment demand to minimize charging times that otherwise would make the fleet less competitive than their fossil-fuel counterparts. This, paired together with higher degrees of vehicle utilization and appropriate battery sizing, allow for electric freight to be cost-competitive even for long-haul distances up to 250 km. Furthermore, optimization of the Electric Vehicle Routing Problem (E-VRP) with shifts and time windows is shown to have a highly significant effect when minimizing TCO on a fleet level, with the vast majority of optimal ICET routes not being optimal for BETs.The benefits of E-VRP optimization scales with demand and fleet size, indicating that large-scale electrification is required to make BETs cost-competitive.Electrification of road freight is therefore highly contingent on effective route planning and charging scheduling with E-VRP optimization in order to be cost-competitive, which has not been considered in previous literature. Thus previous literature have therefore likely underestimated the cost-competitiveness of electric freight, particularly at medium-long haul distances.
