Författarröst i lärarstudenters abstract : En studie av tre studentgrupper / Author voice in student teachers' abstracts : A study of three student groups

Bjällebo, Linnéa January 2014 (has links)

Rock-Paper-Scissors : Questioning the effects of manipulative materials

Lindström, Nina, Pham, Lien January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of the present study is to investigate what research show about the use of manipulative materials in the mathematics education and what factors have an impact on this approach. A definition of the problem was formed when considering the decrease of Swedish pupils mathematical abilities presented in PISA. The intention with the present study was to assemble further knowledge in whether or not the use of manipulative materials could be a teaching method that could help improve this. The method used in this study was a systematic review based on an analysis of 8 studies. The results of the studies were thoroughly examined and presented in a result chapter. When comparing the results categories were found. These categories structured the result chapter as following: the beliefs of pre- and in- service teachers, the situations in which manipulative materials are used / not used, the use of manipulative materials in relation to grades and duration and pupils’ beliefs and achievements. Results show a positive meaning to the use of manipulatives, however it is the question of how they are used that is discussed.

Personal anthropological observations

Atkins, John L. January 1987 (has links)
The creative project dealt with the artist creating a vocabulary of images derived from past and present cultures in order to create a series of highly personalized anthropological narratives. The artist intended the narrative drawings to invoke archaic moods rather than summon literal responses. The accomplishments of this creative project were further development of the artist's personal imagist style, success in relating personal anthropological observations through narratives, and progress in media experimentation. By creating more contrast between forms, by varying value against value and deep space against shallow space, the artist was able to achieve superior compositional studies. / Department of Art

Differential Forms for T-Algebras in Kahler Categories

Thomas, O'Neill 31 May 2013 (has links)
A Kahler category axiomatizes the algebraic geometric theory of Kahler Differentials in an abstract categorical setting. To facilitate this, a Kahler category is equipped with an algebra modality, which endows each object in the image of a specified monad with an associative algebra structure; universal derivations are then required to exist naturally for each of these objects. Moreover, it can be demonstrated that for each T-algebra of said monad there is a natural associative algebra structure. In this paper I will show that under certain conditions on the Kahler category, the universal derivations for the algebras arising from T-algebras exist and arise via a coequalizer. Furthermore, this result is extended to provide an alternative construction for universal derivations for a more general class of algebras, including all algebras in a Kahler category. A prospective categorical formulation of the theory of noncommutative Kahler differentials is then given, and the above said results are shown to apply in this context. Finally, another class of algebras is constructed via a colimit, and the modules of differential forms for these algebras is computed.

Un kernel diseñado para la virtualización

Zabaljáuregui, Matías January 2012 (has links)

Classified models for software engineering

Stuart, Gordon F. 30 September 2005 (has links)
In this dissertation it is shown that abstract data types (ADTs) can be specified by the Classified Model (CM) specification language - a first-order Horn language with equality and sort "classification" assertations. It is shown how these sort assertations generalize the traditional syntactic signatures of ADT specifications, resulting in all of the specification capability of traditional equational specifications, but with the improved expressibility of the Horn-with-equality language and additional theorem proving applications such as program synthesis. This work extends corresponding results from Many Sorted Algebra (MSA), Order Sorted Algebra (OSA) and Order Sorted Model (OSM) specification techniques by promoting their syntactic signatures to assertions in the Classified Model Specification language, yet retaining sorted quantification. It is shown how this solves MSA problems such as error values, polymorphism and subtypes in a way different from the OSA and OSM solutions. However, the CM technique retains the MSA and order sorted approach to parameterization. The CS generalization also suggests the use of CM specifications to axiomatize modules as a generalization of variables within Hoare Logic, with application to a restricted, but safe, use of procedures as state changing operations and functions as value returning operations of a module. CM proof theory and semantics are developed, including theorems for soundness, completeness and the existence of a free model.

"That fella paints like me" : exploring the relationship between Abstract art and Aboriginal art in Australia

Brooks, Terri January 2005 (has links)
"This research project explores the possibility of a relationship between Abstract art and Aboriginal art in Australia from the mid twentieth century to present. [...] The investigation commences with background information on the history and origins of Abstraction, including the influence of 'primitive art' upon leading practitioners in this field during the movement's formation, before moving to Australia and focussing on two Australian painters. [...] The text also reflects on the rise of the perception of Aboriginal art from being seen as cultural curios in the mid 20th century to its current status as an internationally recognised art movement."--p. 2. / Master of Arts (Visual Arts)

Raising ghosts post-World War Two European emigre and migrant artists and the evolution of abstract painting in Australia, with special reference to Adelaide ca 1950-1965

Dutkiewicz, Adam January 2000 (has links)
Raising ghosts examines the political and cultural climate in Australia in the mid-20th century, and proposes that e?migre? and migrant artists to a significant extent were the catalysts of change and progenitors of new forms of painting in the post-war years. It uncovers a largely hidden but fertile terrain in Australian modernism. / thesis (PhDVisualArts)--University of South Australia, 2000.
