Exchange rate forecasting model comparison: A case study in North Europe

In the past, a lot of studies about the comparison of exchange rate forecasting models have been carried out. Most of these studies have a similar result which is the random walk model has the best forecasting performance. In this thesis, I want to find a model to beat the random walk model in forecasting the exchange rate. In my study, the vector autoregressive model (VAR), restricted vector autoregressive model (RVAR), vector error correction model (VEC), Bayesian vector autoregressive model are employed in the analysis. These multivariable time series models are compared with the random walk model by evaluating the forecasting accuracy of the exchange rate for three North European countries both in short-term and long-term. For short-term, it can be concluded that the random walk model has the best forecasting accuracy. However, for long-term, the random walk model is beaten. The equal accuracy test proves this phenomenon really exists.

Este estudio tiene por objeto determinar en una primera parte, la capacidad predictiva des las redes neuronales tanto Rolling como Recursivas en la preedición de signos de la variación del precio del oro, para en una segunda parte determinar si los resultados obtenidos por una de estas redes es robusto en los distintos escenarios económicos o sea si se obtiene la misma predicción de signos bajo diferentes escenarios ficticios, los cuales se simulan con la técnica Bootstrap, para obtener una distribución de los retornos de la técnica.

This thesis deals with the application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in photogrammetric purposes useful in geodesy. The UAV that was used for imaging is described in the first part, also there are introduced two programs which were used for data processing. A system of mission planning and data collecting is shown on the ortofoto creating as an example. The second part of this thesis deals with testing of the accuracy through terrestrially independently measured points. The main aim of the work is to demonstrate the high potential of UAV devices for geodesy purposes.

Grafická reprezentace navigačních zpráv GNSS prototypu / GNSS navigation prototype messages visualization

The aim of this thesis is to graphically interpret navigation messages from a prototype of global navigation satellite system. The resulting application is implemented in Python programming language for Windows operating system and follows requests from researchers developing the prototype. Necessary terminology together with graphical user interface programming possibilities of object-oriented language Python is a base for theoretical background of this text. Practical part of this research describes a solution for receiving generated messages from the prototype as well as their storing and filtering into useful information. Further, the design of graphical user interface of the application for prototype interactions and other tools used for its configuration are included.
