Influência antrópica no ambiente aquático sobre os processos fisiológicos associados à maturação oocitária em peixes teleósteos / Anthropic influence of aquatic environment in the physiological processes associated with oocyte maturation in teleost fish

Tolussi, Carlos Eduardo 04 November 2016 (has links)
The ecotoxicology has arisen as a need to evaluate and mitigate the anthropic impacts in wild environmental and in the local communities, using several bioassays and wild experiments. Among the several studied areas, the reproduction is a process that can have its performance reduced due to the anthropic impacts, showing the importance of studying these processes in ecotoxicologydy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of the impaired environmental in the physiological processes associated with oocyte maturation of Astyanax fasciatus females. Astyanax fasciatus females were sampled between 2012 and 2014 and males (as indicators of the presence of estrogenic compounds) from 2013 to 2014, with two samplings at each season, in two reservoirs, Ponte Nova (reference) and Billings (impacted). Sediments and water were sampled in the same sites to evaluate the chemical and physical parameters. The results of the analysis were compared with the CONAMA/357 guidelines and the hazard risk was calculated. The gene expression of vitellogenin and estradiol receptor, vitellogenin and estradiol plasma level were performed in males and females. The relative and absolute fecundity, gonad histology, gonadosomatic and hepatosomatic index were evaluated only in females. The hazard risk at Billings reservoir was high for organic compounds and metals. Estradiol levels and vitellogenin gene expression were higher in males sampled in Billings in the spring/2013, as well as the relative and absolute fecundity, that were higher in the winter and spring of the same year, when compared with the animals from the reference site (Ponte Nova). These outcomes suggest that during winter and spring of 2013 the pollutants, as analyzed in this study, as well as others that were not detected, may have interfered in the reproductive process of A. fasciatus at Billings reservoir. However, it is necessary to observe that these alterations might, at a given time, impair the oocyte maturation process, being important to monitor and accomplish additional studies of the environmental risk assessment at Billings reservoir

Two ecological processes have been studied in the work related to natural regeneration: the soil seed bank and regenerating assembly. However, few studies associate the seed bank with regenerating assembly in areas that have suffered human disturbance, and deforestation and forest fires, the main factors that alter the composition and floristic richness and seed density of the seed bank and the assembly of regenerating beyond the age of the forest. This study aimed to test the following hypotheses: 1) the seed bank has a higher species richness than the meeting of regenerating and different histories of human activities intensify this difference; 2) the seed bank has a higher density than the meeting of regenerating and different histories of human activities intensify this difference; 3) the floristic composition of the seed bank is different from regenerating assembly and different histories of human activities intensify this difference. The study was conducted in an area of seasonally dry forest, caatinga, located in Agricultural Research Institute (IPA) in Caruaru, Pernambuco, in a fragment of mature forest and forest Young. They were considered belonging to regenerating assembly herbaceous species and seedlings and juveniles of woody species, which had up to 1 m tall. For sampling regenerating assembly were randomly 40 plots of 1x2 m, 20 in the mature forest and 20 in young forest. To the seed bank were collected 20 soil samples in mature forest and 20 in young forest, next to the plots established for the census of regenerating assembly. The collection of soil was made through installments made with galvanized sheet 20 x 20 cm and 5 cm deep and including litter. In this study, the young and mature forests, there was no significant difference in species richness between the seed bank and the assembly of regenerating, but the floristic composition is not the same. human actions intensify the difference in the density of seed bank and assembly of regenerating between young and mature forests.

These environments suffer a gradual process of fragmentation resulting from anthropogenic activity, being characterized as a mosaic of forest patches with different disturbances regimes. In this context, the present study aimed to evaluate the anuran assemblages associated with puddles and flooded areas used as breeding sites in the Biological Reserve Guaribas, assessing the existence of patterns of resource use in along the anthropogenic disturbance and the influence of habitat and environmental variables. The samplings were made during the rainy season and wet season form 2013 and twelve environmental variables corresponding to physicochemical aspects of water and soil, as well as characteristics of the vegetation stratification. The environmental variables that contributed most to the dissimilarity between areas was described by PCA, the patterns in structuring the assemblage of anurans between areas was verified by nMDS, the environment/species matrices were related through analysis for CCA check the influence of these environmental factors on anuran assemblage. The hypotheses to be tested were: (1) there is a strong relationship between habitat structure with the anuran assemblages and (2) the environmental factors the puddles and flooded areas influence the patterns of the assemblages structure in a gradient of anthropic disturbance. Twenty species totaling 289 individuals were recorded. The results corroborate the patterns of distribution and richness of frogs in puddles and flooded areas and showed a strong influence of environmental factors. The variables that better explained the structure of the assemblies were related to vertical stratification of vegetation, litter depth, depth of the water body, pH and water temperature. there was a record of the use of 11 distinct microhabitats for reproductive activity, herbaceous vegetation in water and soil and dry soil were the most used. The widespread use of different microhabitats for several species, distributed in breeding sites, indicate the importance of these habitats for the conservation of local anurans in the Atlantic Forest.

Effects of land use transformation on microarthropod community structure in Mediterranean area / Effets de l'urbanisation sur les communautés de microarthropodes du sol en région méditerranéenne

Santorufo, Lucia 18 June 2013 (has links)
The effects of human-mediated activities on soil quality and functioning have been assessed. Composition and changes in arthropod community structure and laboratory bioassays were performed on urban soils in order to understand the roles of metal contamination on soil organism activities and distribution. Then, comparison of urban, agricultural, industrial and forest soils were performed, monitoring Collembola species and functional traits composition, in order to assess if the impact of urban environment is greater than other kinds of anthropization. Soil organism community was analysed twice a years for evaluating the role of seasonality on anthropic impacted soils. The different kinds of anthropization firstly affected the abiotic properties of the sites. Agricultural and urban soils were the most impacted soils by human activities, which cause changes in vegetation cover, organic matter amounts and accumulation of hazardous elements and compounds. Soils organisms responded to soil abiotic modifications. In particular, in urban environment soil organisms were strongly reduced at high level of metal contamination, whereas organic matter content and climatic conditions played the main role at low-intermediate soil contamination. Collembola community showed a strong reduction in species richness in agricultural soils, with a consequent domination of few tolerant species. Collembola functional trait distribution was mainly affected by the presence and the type of litter and inputs of contaminants. In particular, agricultural environment favoured organisms with traits adapted to soil life surface, whereas forest soils favoured organisms with euedaphic characteristics. Industrial and urban soils showed organisms with both epiedaphic and euedaphic characteristics

No. of bitstreams: 1 Juliana Ramos de Andrade.pdf: 1469366 bytes, checksum: 3785d2ee3c526b6cc3aa54c3155c5d26 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-06-22 / Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq / The dry tropical forests are being changed by human actions. The historical use of the area suffered and its proximity to preserved fragments should be considered in order to better understand the successional process of these areas, as well as influence the regeneration mechanisms and dynamics of re-established populations, affect the speed of recovery. Populations established in modified areas experience different microclimate variations found in mature forests, and little known species response to these changes. Thus, this thesis aimed to: a) to characterize and compare the density, wealth, height, diameter and basal area of the community of a secondary forest savanna who suffered human intervention in a range of five years; b) analyze the effect of interannual and seasonal variations in precipitation and microclimate variations in the dynamics of three populations of mature forests and young. To evaluate the potential recovery of the area were established 200 plots (5 x 10 m) in an area of caatinga secondary forest in the municipality of Caruaru, Pernambuco, Brazil. In 2008 and 2013 each of the plots had all living individuals with stem diameter at ground level ≥ 3 cm identified and measured for height and diameter. For the study of population dynamics, 100 subplots of 25 m² were established in the young forest and the same amount in a mature forest, with a monthly monitoring during the period 2013-2015 and noted the numbers of individuals born and dead Poincianella pyramidalis, Schinopsis brasiliensis and Myracrodruon urundeuva. They were also measured the microclimate variables (light, temperature, wind and humidity) in order to correlate them with the demographic parameters of the species. Over the five years the number of species was almost the same, there was a reduction in the total density and basal area average due to the maturation of the forest and probably prolonged drought of 2012. In 2008 the total basal area was 10.59 m².ha-1, increasing to 11.01 m².ha-1. The average height of the community had no significant increase of 3.59 m in 2008 to 3.65 m in 2013. The amount of individuals inserted in the smaller diameter classes declined from 2008 to 2013, while the opposite occurred in the larger classes. The population dynamics varied between forests, seasons and years (interannual variation of precipitation). Despite the age of the forest have low explanatory power of the births and deaths of P. pyramidalis in short time scale, 30% of the density was explained by the age of the forest, suggesting that recruitment for advanced ontogenetic stages is influencido by interannual variations occurring in microclimate conditions of each forest, and negatively correlated with light in young forest. Mortality was correlated with light, tempetaratura and humidity in the mature forest and light and moisture in the young forest. In S. brasiliensis was no correlation between light and density, as well as between wind and humidity in the number of deaths only in the young forest. The power of influence of forest age and interannual and seasonal variations in precipitation on births was low and no microclimate variable was correlated with birth. In M. urundeuva, temperature and humidity were correlated to birth in mature forest, but in the young forest only light correlated to birth. Overall, forest age influenced the density and seasonal and annual rainfall totals influenced mortality and births, respectively, but in general, the explanatory power was also low. It was concluded that the speed of the regenerative process and resilience of the forest is affected by the abandonment of time, and the changes that happen in the space of five years considered slow and may not detect major changes in advance of the recovery process of a forest that already presents 19 years of age. In addition to the age of the forest, the temporal variation (between years and between seasons) linked to the influence of microcimáticas variations alter the density and the number of dead individuals and born in forests with different ages. It has been seen that demographic responses of woody plants to micro-climatic variations can be complex in dry forests and dissimilarities in the microclimate between forests suggest slow the return of such conditions. Such a return is extremely important for future projection of time required for the formation of new post-forest land use for agricultural activities in semiarid environments.

However, only a few compare the different edge environment of an even forest fragment. Therefore, understanding how the established populations are affected at these locations is crucial for the conservation and recovery of many fragmented landscapes. Thus, the objective was to analyze the edge effect upon the arboreal structure of the urban forest of Jaguarana, Paulista–PE. The methodology used was in the transect form, at a 10x100 m dimension, subdivided into 10 contiguous parcels of 10x10m. Transects were launched into different edge environments: Environment 1 (A1) –environment at a low level of anthropization, located at a place where there is neither neighborship with communities, nor with roads, when compared to other edge areas, being, in a certain way, more isolated; Environment 2 (A2) –environment at a high level of anthropization, adjacent to Jaguarana Community, suffering greater pressure resulting from the action of humans. Environment 3 (A3) –environment at an average level of anthropization, being located farther from the near forest areas, however, adjacent to the highway BR-101, suffering greater effects related to the abiotic factors. For the analysis, all arboreal individuals with circumference at breast height (CBH) > 15cm, to 1,30m from the ground were collected, totalizing 311 individuals: 129 from A1, 62 from A2 and 120 from A3. Fifty-one taxons were identified: 2 at family-level, 4 at gender-level, 50 at specie-level, and 5 undetermined. The edge environment adjacent to the community differed statistically from the others, according to the T-Test, at 5% of probability, due to its inferiority regarding the number of individuals, although there were no significant differences on the base area among the environments, according to the T-Test, at 5% of probability. The majority of the individuals flocked in the first classes of diameter, tending to the inverted-J, typical uneven-aged forests. The result of the diversity index of Shannon (H’) ranged from 3,16 nats/ind., considered below average of the index found in the fragments of dense rain forests of Low Lands in the state of Pernambuco. The majority of the species presented uniform special distribution and, concerning the ecological groups, the majority were classified at the initial succession stage, at all edge environments.

Anthropisation et dynamique des zones humides dans le nord-est-algérien : apport des études palynologiques pour une gestion conservatoire / Human impact and dynamics of wetlands in north-eastern Algeria : contribution of palynilogical studies for conservation management

Gherzouli, Chahrazed 17 December 2013 (has links)
The plant dynamic and anthropic study of northern Algeria wetlands was lead from an approach based on retro-observation and using palynology as main tool. Thus, the multi-proxy study of five sedimentary sequences supported by 9 radiocarbon dating and exploitation of contemporary pollen referential, devoted for defining a list of pollen taxa indicators of anthropisation, allow us to reconstruct the vegetation dynamics and past plant diversity in the last centuries in areas where paleobotanical data were do not exist (except for Numidia). Paleoecological data acquired allow us to write, for the biogeographical Kabylie-Constantine-Numidia sector, a local vegetation history, past biodiversity and environmental dynamics of wetlands. All these data can be used within contemporary political management of wetlands for missing habitat restoration or for reintroduction of locally extinct species. The results obtained, which document essentially a recent period not back beyond the XVII° century, indicate intense human activity, marked by the weight of agro-pastoralism but the impact on the ecosystem and on particular temporary ponds varies from sectors and does not necessarily lead to a major damages on plant communities and on their resilience. From the perspective of conservation management, the consideration of past wetland dynamics is fundamental and can be an essential tool to define conservation priorities.
