Pautados na idéia do caráter utilitário do conhecimento histórico, os letrados redigiram ensaios, artigos, reflexões e comentários sobre vários episódios da história brasileira, sempre no intuito de corrigir os erros do passado e de apontar para uma direção segura e de sucesso para os tempos vindouros. No presente trabalho, abordamos de que maneira a história brasileira é retratada nas revistas que circularam na cidade do Rio de Janeiro entre os anos de 1843 à 1869, período no qual ocorreu a proliferação das publicações desse gênero. A partir da análise da seção de história, foi possível compreender o destacado papel conferido e desempenhado pelo conhecimento histórico nesse cenário, seja através da análise dos anos coloniais, da reflexão sobre o momento vivenciado pelos letrados,ou então, por meio dos projetos vislumbrados a fim de conduzir o país ao progresso / Abstract: Throughout the nineteenth century, the journals were one of the stages of discussion on the country, promoting its various sections in the analysis of issues considered fundamental to the progress of Brazil. Supported by the idea of the character of the historical knowledge utility, the literate written essays, articles, thoughts and comments on several episodes of Brazilian history, always in order to correct the mistakes of the past and point to a safe direction and success for the times ahead. In this work, discussing how the Brazilian history is depicted in the magazines that circulate in the city of Rio de Janeiro between the years of 1843 to 1869, in which period there was a proliferation of publications of this genre. From the analysis of the section of history, it was possible to understand the prominent role played by and given historical knowledge that setting, either through the years colonial analysis, reflection on the moment experienced by literate, or by means of the projects glimpsed order to lead the country to progress / Mestre

Leite / Banca: Lilian Mangerona Corneta Rotta / Banca: Clarice Lottermann / Banca: Camila da Silva Alavarce Campos / Resumo: Esta tese de doutorado tem por objetivo apontar aspectos que favorecem a análise literária de narrativas infantis e juvenis brasileiras, de modo que possam servir de orientação (a professores e pais, principalmente) na escolha de obras literárias. Encontramos em Perrone-Moisés (1998) características - empregadas por escritores canonizados em suas escolhas literárias - bem definidas e didaticamente elencadas, que conferem ao texto escrito o status de arte. Para chegar à qualidade artística da literatura que nos propusemos a estudar, foi necessário compreendermos as noções de arte e estética literária. Conscientes de que a literatura transita também pela área da educação, fizemos algumas reflexões sobre o espaço que hoje ocupa - e os problemas que enfrenta - nas escolas brasileiras. Tratando-se do estudo de uma literatura brasileira, ramo do mesmo tronco em que se apoia toda a literatura universal, mas, agora, feita por brasileiros, discorremos sobre as influências que recebeu e as dificuldades que enfrentou para constituir-se genuinamente nacional; e sendo uma literatura supostamente destinada a um público peculiar, fizemos um apanhado histórico dos conceitos de infância, adolescência e juventude, buscando as especificidades que deve ter para atingir o objetivo de chegar a esse público. As obras que examinamos - que no conjunto, compreendem o período que vai desde o final do séc. XIX até o final da primeira década do séc. XXI -, foram selecionadas a partir de pesquisas junto à Fundação Nacional do Livro Infantil e Juvenil e à Câmara Brasileira de Letras, instituidora do Prêmio Jabuti; de autores consagrados pela produção adulta que também escreveram para o público mais jovem; e, por fim, do nosso gosto pelo lúdico e conhecimento sobre educação, psicologia infantil e do desenvolvimento... (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: This Doctoral Thesis aims to point out aspects that can favour the analysis of literary narratives for children and youth in Brazil in order to guide teachers and parents mainly, in the choice of literary works. Perrone-Moisés (1998) gave us clear and didactically listed features - which she found, were used by canonical writers in their own literary choices - that confer to the written text the status of art. To reach the artistic qualities of the literature we set out to study, it was necessary to understand the notions of literary art and aesthetics. Conscious that literature also travels throughout the area of Education, we made some reflections about the space it occupies - and the problems it faces - inside today Brazilian schools. As this is a study of Brazilian literature, a branch of the same trunk that supports the entire world literature but here made by Brazilian authors, we argued about the influences it received and the difficulties it has faced on its way to build a truly national writing; and as it is a literature supposedly aimed at a particular audience we made a Historical overview on the concepts of childhood, adolescence and youth, seeking for the specificities it must have to achieve the goal of reaching this audience. The works we examined - which together make a set that covers the period between the end of the XIX century and the end of the first decade of the XXI century - were selected from researches by the National Book Foundation for Children and Youth and the Brazilian Chamber of Literature, responsible for the Jabuti awards; from renowned authors for their ―adult‖ production who also wrote for a younger public; and finally by our ludic esteem and our knowledge on Education, Child Psychology, Development Psychology, Portuguese language and Literature.
