The goul and purpose of the disertation is to find the overlaping aeras of special pedagogy and art therapy in the new paradigm of education, including special education - in inclusion. In diseration work there are introduced the main theoretical approaches of current art therapy, focusing on the spiritualy- ecological approach, which correstondents in it's holistic and integrating approach to the modern main spreams of special education. The dissertation thesis deals with art therapy applied in educational and psychological counseling. Theoretical part of the thesis defines the term "art therapy", theoretical and historical fundaments of the art therapy and touches upon possible applications in treatment. The art therapy process is described from the projective art therapy point of view; specificities of this particular approach in work with children are explained. The developmental view on the art therapy is esp. accented (and described in special chapter). This part of thesis describes the art therapy process together with its goals, possible techniques and themes used in art guidance, the alternatives of methodical supervision and interventions into the child's art production, and evaluation of the therapy progress. Verbal communication with children during the art therapy and interpretation of the product are discussed as well as symbolics and metaphor in art production. The possibilities of art therapeutic work with parents and their inclusion into the therapeutic process are mentioned. The dissertation thesis deals with the impact of means of art (dance and fine art) on the pesonality development of mentally handicapped adults. The topič is developed on both theoretical and practical levels. The thesis describes the philosophical and social science basis of this approach and lists research projects dealing with art therapy and dance therapy for mentally handicapped People. The work includes practical and theoretical aspects of art therapy and dance therapy in a broader context. This thesis focuses on the possibilities and use of methods of art therapy with people with intellectual disabilities. The aim is to describe the techniques of art therapy and its benefits for the target group, to summarize the care provided to persons with mental disabilities in Chile, also to create a development project, based on this knowledge, that has the goal to develop experience-based teaching model through using art therapy for personal development and therapy for mentally disabled people in Chile. The next goal is to introduce art therapy in selected organizations which work with people with intellectual disabilities in the region of Maule, Chile. The research methods were: participant observation and semi-structured interviews in organizations working with people with intellectual disabilities.

The goal of my thesis is to introduce professionals concerned with special educational or art with the art techniques with elements of art which are suitable for individuals with mental disabilities. In the theoretical part, I looked at the themes: Children's creative expression, Special art, Art Therapy, Symbols in art therapy, Goals of art therapy, Art Therapy techniques, Mental ratardacion In the practical part I have to invent an individual training - methodology for working with mentally handicapped and implement various activities with elements of visual art.

Artetherapy with mentally handicapped persons is very extensive and diverse, just like various forms of mental retardation. The first objective of the present thesis was to ascertain which artetherapeutic procedures and art techniques can be applied when working with mentally handicapped clients. The second objective was to ascertain whether artetherapy helps to develop the overall personality in a positive way, whether it propitiously affects concentration, skilfulness and memory, or whether it supports creativity and socialization of the mentally handicapped. The third objective was to ascertain how mentally handicapped persons would react if they were given the opportunity to work creatively. To research the problems described, the author chose the quantitative technique. Methods applied were: observation, non-standard interview, content analysis of the data from medical and psychological documents and analysis of personal documents. The target group was 7 persons living in the ``Barevný svět{\crqq} Daily Centre. Having made use of previous knowledge, I made three hypotheses. H1: ``Mentally handicapped persons need a sufficient amount of time to acquire the technique that would help them express themselves more easily.{\crqq} H2: ``Artetherapy helps to develop the overall personality in a positive way, it propitiously affects concentration, skilfulness and positive thinking and last but not least, it supports creativity and socialization of the mentally handicapped.{\crqq} H3: ``Mentally handicapped persons positively react to the opportunity to work creatively, they are sincerely interested in this work, and they show great excitement about the results that they have achieved.{\crqq} The research has proved that the clients need to be given a lot of time to acquire painting and drawing techniques in order to express themselves in a better way. However, we must say that there is no single particular technique or procedure that we would be able to apply with each and every mentally handicapped person. The research results have confirmed that artetherapy helps to develop the overall personality, it propitiously affects concentration, skilfulness and positive thinking and last but not least, it supports creativity and socialization of the mentally handicapped. React to the opportunity to work creatively, they are sincerely interested in their work, and they show great excitement about the results that they have achieved.

This thesis focuses on social work and art therapy, specifically the possibility of the applicability and usefulness of the specific therapeutic art techniques in social work. In the first step my thesis introduces theoretic solutions of both mentioned disciplines. After that it looks for places of applicability of therapeutic art techniques in social work by a practical form. The final part describes specific of benefit of the mentioned techniques for social work, as well as in specific methods of social work - social work with an individual, a group, a family and a child client.
