An Unified Approach to Analyze a Generic M-ary CDMA System

Chao, Chien-yao 30 July 2004 (has links)
In this thesis we propose and study a new CDMA architecture, namely parallel-transmission M-ary CDMA system. By using variable combination patterns of spreading codes, we can greatly improve the system bandwidth utilization. The more spreading codes used in each user, the higher bandwidth efficiency can achieve with more bits packed in each symbol. In addition, a user can adjust transmission data rate easily by changing the number of spreading codes used to fit varying system operational requirements. In this thesis, we should use maximum likelihood detection algorithms for signal detection to ensure an optimal performance in terms of bit error rate. The system performance of such a parallel-transmission M-ary CDMA system is analytically studied in both AWGN and Nakagami channels in the presence of multiple access interference and multi-path interference. The both theoretical analysis and computer simulations show that the scheme works pretty well under various channel condition.

M-ary SPREAD SPECTRUM COMMUNICATION IN TELEMETRY SYSTEMS

Honglin, Zhao, Shijie, Bi, Tingxian, Zhou 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 27-30, 1997 / Riviera Hotel and Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / This paper analyzes the performance of an M-ary spread spectrum system with orthogonal codes. A new scheme of M-ary spread spectrum communication with phase shifted msequence is proposed, and the method to implement code synchronization in the scheme is given. The performance of the new scheme is analyzed, and compared to conventional spread spectrum systems and orthogonal code M-ary systems. The results show that stronger anti-interference ability, and better data transmission efficiency, and lower complexity is achieved in the system employing phase shifted m-sequence.

Generalizations of Quandles and their cohomologies

Green, Matthew J. 05 July 2018 (has links)
Quandles are distributive algebraic structures originally introduced independently by David Joyce and Sergei Matveev in 1979, motivated by the study of knots. In this dissertation, we discuss a number of generalizations of the notion of quandles. In the first part of this dissertation we discuss biquandles, in the context of augmented biquandles, a representation of biquandles in terms of actions of a set by an augmentation group. Using this representation we are able to develop a homology and cohomology theory for these structures. We then introduce an n-ary generalization of the notion of quandles. We discuss a number of properties of these structures and provide a number of examples. Also discussed are methods of obtaining n-ary quandles through iteration of binary quandles, and obtaining binary quandles from n-ary quandles, along with a classification of low order ternary quandles. We build upon this generalization, introducing n-ary f-quandles, and similarly discuss examples, properties, and relations between the n-ary structures and their binary counter parts, as well as low order classification of ternary f-quandles. Finally we present cohomology theory for general n-ary f-quandles.

The Study of Distributed Detection Using Two-Dimensional Codes

Lin, Yu-pang 12 January 2010 (has links)
In this thesis, we consider the distributed classification problem in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Sensor nodes in WSNs detect environmental variations and make their decisions individually, after which their decisions, possibly in the presence of faults, are transmitted to a fusion center. In literature, the distributed classification fusion using error correcting codes has been shown to have good sensor fault-tolerance capability. In this thesis, we extend the fault-tolerant classification system using error correcting code by using two-dimensional channel coding. We also extend the binary coding in literature to the M-ary code. This thesis then suggests a code construction method with low computational complexity. Based on the suggest code construction method, this thesis then conducts a series experiment to investigate the performance of the suggested method.

No. of bitstreams: 1 FARIAS.pdf: 10421 bytes, checksum: 00e25980bfec2bc9e52d75aa043b7157 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-04-12 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This dissertation presents a study of Brazilian composer Ary Barroso and his role in musical nationalism in Brazil. It seeks to understand how Ary Barroso expressed his national identity in his musical compositions. To achieve this end, a reflection is carried out about the phenomenon of nationalism in its theoretical foundations, thus seeking to understand the important role of music for the nationalist ideological purposes. This is followed by a discussion of the course of nationalism in Brazilian music, in which Ary Barroso played a considerable role. This can be verified both by the repercussion his work had and continues to have, judging by the public s reception and by the exposition of the composer s biographical aspects, in which, especially because of the content of his statements, his nationalist motivations are perceptible. Finally, a musical and contextual analytical approach to his musical production is employed to identify and describe the ingredients used by the composer to express, through musical form, aspects of a nation and the national feeling / Nesta dissertação é realizado um estudo sobre o papel do compositor brasileiro Ary Barroso no nacionalismo musical brasi leiro, procurando compreender a maneira como o mesmo compositor expressou a identidade nacional em suas composições musicais.

Existence Problem Of Almost P-ary Perfect And Nearly Perfectsequences

Yildirim, Cemal Cengiz 01 September 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Almost p-ary perfect and nearly perfect sequences are equivalent to certain relative difference sets and direct product difference sets, respectively. This feature enables Chee, Tan and Zhou to determine the existence status of those sequences by using the tools of Design Theory. In particular, they determined the existence status of almost p-ary perfect and nearly perfect sequences of period n+1 for n 100, except some open cases in [6]. In this thesis, we obtained a set of Diophantine equations in integers while observing relative difference sets, and proved nonexistence of almost p-ary perfect sequences of period n + 1 for n (50,76,94,99,100).Also, we observed that it was possible to extend Diophantine equations that we used for relative difference sets to the direct product difference sets, thereby proved the nonexistence of almost p-ary nearly perfect sequences of type II of period n + 1 for p = 2, p = 3 and p = 5 at certain values of n. As a result, we answered two questions posed by Chee, Tan and Zhou in [6].
