"Stará městská zákoutí v současnosti" (grafika - suchá jehla) / "The Old Town Secluded Places"

The presented thesis is focused on the inspiration and the creation of the series of six graphic sheets. The leitmotif of this complex are the old town secluded places, namely the place of former Prague ghetto. The places, which have disappeared, are interconnected with the present by means of the graphic sheets. The aim of the thesis was to depict the Prague Jewish town and to intensify this visually grateful theme by art depicting. The thesis contains a detailed summary of the artistic and literally depicting of the lost Jewish Prague in the course of centuries. There is also a map of some chosen places of the former ghetto ? its original purpose and the original appearance in contrast with the present. Further, the thesis describes graphic techniques including the dry needle technique, which is used for six graphic sheets. The thesis further deals with the topic of use of the graphic technique at the art schools. The conclusion of the thesis is the consideration regarding the collision of the present and seemingly lost world within the former Jewish Prague.

Novobarokní fenomén v pražské architektuře kolem roku 1900 / The neo-baroque phenomenon in Prague architecture around 1900

The objective principles in the architecture production around 1890 have been gradually lefg into individual and local principles. There has been new rehabilitation of the Czech renaissance and Czech baroque architecture. There have been many factors like influence of the neighbour states, where had been baroque architecture regabilitated earlier, or scientific research during reconstruction of the baroque monuments. There have been gradually many notes and books about baroque art. The neo-baroque style has been appreciated, that has been in agreement with existing Prague architecture. Neo-baroque buildings we have found in the new urbanism places, in teh places of Prague brownfield development and we have found them also in the exhibitions of the architecture. There exist predecessors of the neo-baroque architecture,like the second rococo, trendy style of the middle of the 19. century and also architecture imports, but the main stream have started with the entry of Friedrich Ohmann to Prague. Pure neo-baroque we can find beside eclectic form with the influence of the other style, especially modern style. The scale of the baroque inspiration is very wide. Nákladové nádraží Žižkov / Žižkov freight station

Diploma thesis is focused on Žižkov freight station and its transformation to cultural center. It introduces its characteristics, operation and construction. It further explores the process of becoming a cultural heritage site. It describes various obstacles including complicated relations and interests of owner of the site, developers, municipality, politicians and at last but not least non-profit organisations and citizens' initiatives. It is a study of an environment, which requires to be understood prior to any further project planning. The thesis also includes concrete vision of the cultural center, introduces involved subjects - future inhabitants of the freight station and depicts the property and financial situation of the complex. This part of the thesis also includes one concrete project, which is to be organized and run by the author herself. Further on the thesis includes examples of similar cultural centers, which are already in operation both in the Czech Republic and abroad, and which prove to have positive impact on the society, art community and economics of its surroundings. Future of Žižkov freight station is merely a fraction in the issue of conversion of industrial spaces in general. Nevertheless it remains an unique opportunity to build up an extraordinary project in one of the most impressive industrial environments of Prague.

Asanace Pražského předměstí od 50. do 80. let dvacátého století / Redevelopement of the Prague suburb between the 1950´s and 1980´s

The diploma thesis is dealing with the process of sanitation of the Prague suburb in Czech Budweis from 1950´s to 1980´s. The first chapter outlines the development of the Prague suburb from its early beginnings to the first half of the 20th century. The main concern of this work is put on the construction of the suburb which took place in the second half of the 20th century; moreover, the text refers to the sanitation works which were necessary to be made before constructing the new buildings which were constructed in this time period. There is Koldům form 50´s/60´s which was built by architect Bohumil Böhm. From the following decade, there is the department house called Družba which was designed by architects Ladislav Konopka and Alois Hlouška. The last building to be selected is the post office which originates in 80´s and it was also built by Ladislav Konopka. All chosen buildings are thoroughly discussed from the historical point of view; furthermore, the text also refers to the significance of these buildings and their present condition. The diploma thesis aims to depict in detail the phases of the sanitation of the Prague suburb. Through this description the text is trying to reveal the overall scope of the urban changes which took place in this oldest part of the city.

in English Aim of this work is mostly about process of sanitation of Josefov and also shows themes which are not still much discussed. Just denial opinion about simplification of denying sanitation, pointing on certain inevitability of this decision for Josefov, but also to effors for saving most important thinks from this area, belong to these themes. The effor to refute some myths about sanitation Josefov, is closely related. As a model city for better understanding the situation was chosen Vienna. The Prague town council was inspired by this city for process sanitation itself. The regulation of historic city centre was there about few decades earlier and the Ringstrasse was the result. In both projects are same characters in planning and implementation itself. But on other hand have both cities, especially Prague, own specific features that made both rebuilding unique.

Thesis Czech folk scene and political persecution after 1977, deals with the events in Czechoslovakia folk music scene after the release of Charter 77. Thesis is focused on members of the folk group Šafrán (Saffron). Studied period of time is placed between 1977 and the first half of the 80s in Czechoslovakia. Thesis is divided into two parts. Introduction of the thesis and its first part is dedicated to the political and cultural situation of the 70s of the 20th century. The second part of the thesis describes the origin and development of folk music as an independent musical genre in Czechoslovakia. The main aim of the thesis is a partial depiction of life situation of folk singer-songwriters in the specified time period. Thesis is based on chosen musician's personal memories of political persecution, which was directed against their work as well. The final part of the thesis is dedicated to the development and course of the secret police Action Asanace (Redevelopment). The event had an impact not only on the personal lives of these artists, but also on the further development of folk music in the late 20th century in Czechoslovakia.

The master thesis "Zikmund Reach and his photographic collection" focuses on Zikmund Reach's photographs of old Prague. Firstly theis describes the life and familly of the publisher and follows by gradual work of an publisher. The subsequent chapter focuses on photography as a commodity and presents briefly life and work poof a French photographer Eugène Atget. The next part of the thesis devotes on the main photographic topics of the work od Zikmund Reach including an extensive collection of "Prague types" which is a sociological reflecion of society in the second half of 19th century compared with a similar collection of "Viennies types". The main topic is based on the photographic albums of "Disappeared Prague" which aren't known yet. In conclusion the thesis focuses on archives in which the collection of Zikmund Reach is stored in and their mutual thematic coherence.
