Vklass datalagring : En studie om datalagring på ett kostands- och prestandaeffektivt sätt / Vklass Data Storage : A study on data storage in a cost and performance effective way

Studien som utförs i detta examensarbete behandlar ämnet datalagring för applikationen Vklass. Problemet som studeras i detta arbete består i att det varje månad inkommer ett stort antal filer till applikationen som lagras på en server lokalt i Stockholm där regelbun-den säkerhetskopiering görs till en annan server. Den implementerade datalagringslösning-en innebär att servern som lagrar data växer ständigt och utan särskild struktur då filerna lagras i en och samma mapp, vilket i sin tur innebär en mer komplex och mindre överskåd-lig lagring av filerna i lagringsmedierna samtidigt som prestandabegränsningar uppstår vid återläsning av säkerhetskopian. Kunden efterfrågar en lösning som innebär en mer effektiv hantering för alla de filer som lagras i applikationen på ett kostnads- och prestandaeffektivt vis. Lösningen bör även möjliggöra lagring av data med en mer överskådlig och lätthanter-lig struktur. De lösningsmetoder som undersökts i arbetet avser datalagring lokalt samt datalagring i molntjänster från de mest framstående aktörerna. Undersökningen och analysen av de valda lösningsmetoderna visade att datalagring i molntjänster uppfyller kraven som den nya data-lagringslösningen ämnar uppnå till skillnad från datalagring lokalt som visade brister och som därmed inte uppfyllde dessa krav. Slutsatsen i arbetet identifierade Microsoft Azure Storage som den mest lämpliga molnleverantören för datalagring då data lagras på ett pre-standa- och struktureffektivt sätt. Lösningen är även kostnadseffektiv då det dyraste lag-ringsalternativet som Microsoft erbjuder sänker lagringskostnaderna för Vklass med 84 % under de kommande fem åren i jämförelse med aktuell lagringsmetod. / The study in this report examines data storage for the application Vklass. The problem that has been studied in this work is that the application receives and stores a big amount of files which are stored on a server locally in Stockholm where back up is made to another server on a regular basis. Today’s implemented solution for data storage endorse that the server that stores the files continues to grow each month without further structure since all the upload files is stored in the same folder which yields a more complex and less lucid storage and management for the data. This yields limitations for the performance of the application when the backup-copy needs to be restored. The owners of the application request a solu-tion that gives a more effective management of the stored data with a cost and performance effective technique. The solution that will be presented in this study should also enable stor-ing data with a more lucid and convenient structure. The studied methods for the solution include storing data locally and data storage in the biggest public cloud services. The investigation and analysis of the chosen methods proved that data storage in cloud services fulfilled the requirements for the identified solution as opposed to the methods for storing data locally that proved to yield deficits which would not fulfill these requirements. The deduction of this study identified Microsoft Azure Sto-rage to be the best public cloud solution for the given problem since data is stored in a per-formance and structure effective way. It was also proven that even the most expensive sto-rage solution provided by Azure Storage lowered the costs for data storage by 84 percent compared to today’s data storage solution during the first five years.

The purpose of this thesis is to design and implement tools for support of a snapshot and a rollback for configuration files on the GNU/Linux distribution. The set of the tools enables an automatic/periodical saving of the configuration files into the selected placement. The creation of backups reacts to file events by watching the changes with kernel subsystem inotify. Tools are enabling to return to the selected backup. The way of the backup actualization is configurable. This tool permits the data comparison from selected backups, to show the differences in configurations and eventually to manage a merge among actual and selected backup. Tools also allows a comparison of a configurations of one client or configurations among clients, and to display the mutual differences, eventually to manage their merge.

Tato diplomová práce představuje model a prototyp kooperativního distributivního systému zálohování dat založeném na P2P komunikační síti. Návrh systému umožňuje uživatelům přispět svým lokálním volným místem na disku do systému výměnou za spolehlivé úložiště jejich dat u jiných uživatelů. Představené řešení se snaží splnit požadavky uživatelů na ukládání dat, zároveň však také řeší, jak se vypořádat s mírou nepředvídatelnosti uživatelů  ohledně poskytování volného místa. To je prováděno dvěma způsoby - využitím Reed - Solomon kódů a zároveň také tím, že poskytuje možnost nastavení parametrů dostupnosti. Jedním z těchto parametrů je časový rozvrh, který značí, kdy uživatel může nabídnout předvídatelný přínos do systému. Druhý parametr se týká spolehlivosti konkrétního uživatele v rámci jeho slíbeného časového úseku. Systém je schopen najít synchronizaci ukládaných dat na základě těchto parametrů. Práce se zaměřuje rovněž na řešení zabezpečení systému proti širšímu spektru možných útoků. Hlavním cílem je publikovat koncept a prototyp. Jelikož se jedná o relativně nové řešení, je důležitá také zpětná vazba od široké veřejnosti, která může produkt používat. Právě jejich komentáře a připomínky jsou podnětem pro další vývoj systému.

Supply Chain Risk Management : - En kvalitativ studie kring Covid-19s påverkan på den svenska verkstadsindustrin.

Abstract Background and problem statement: Since December 2019 the world have been largely affected by the new corona virus (Covid-19). The corporate industry has experienced the consequences of whole nations isolating themselves to contain the virus. The complex networks of today’s supply chains further complicate this situation. This has challenged companies expertise and preparedness within areas of supply chain risk management and further within procurement. Purpose: This study aims to identify how companies within the Swedish manufacturing industry work with risk management in supply chains mainly targeting risk management within procurement. Furthermore, the study aims to identify how these companies have been affected by the pandemic outbreak and how they have handled the situation by using risk management strategies. Based on this purpose two research questions were constructed. Method: A qualitative study design with some contribution from the quantitative study design have been carried out through semi-structured interviews. By analysing secondary data such as literature and peer-reviewed articles a theoretical framework was constructed. Results: Supply chain risk management is not formalized as a term within the industry, although it is safe to say that companies work with activities and strategies within the area. Strategies that proved effective during the pandemic outbreak were safety stock, geographical placement of suppliers, risk identification and risk analysis. Flexibility within the supply chains also proved to be vital to the success of the companies during this time.

Skydd och incidentrespons inom IT-säkerhet : En studie kring utvecklingen av ransomware / Protection and incident response within IT-security: A study about the development of ransomware

Cybersäkerhet är ett konstant växande hot mot organisationer, genom det ständigt ökade digitaliserade samhället, dock finns tecken på att medvetenheten hos organisationer ökar vad gäller cyberattacker och cybersäkerhet. Cyberattacker kan skapa konsekvenser som kan förhindra organisationens verksamhet. Detta lägger grunden till arbetet, att se hur försvarsförmågan har utvecklats. I värsta fall medför en cyberattack konsekvenser som kan äventyra en organisations överlevnadsförmåga. I och med det nya hotet ransomware, där hotaktören krypterar offrets filer och sedan kräver en lösensumma, har konsekvenserna kraftigt kommit att bli mer fatala. Metoderna för ransomware utvecklas av hotaktörerna vilket kan bidra till mer än bara ekonomiska konsekvenser för organisationen. Mot ransomware gäller i stort samma skyddsåtgärder som mot alla former av cyberattacker, däremot finns en del särskilt viktiga aspekter som belyses i detta arbete, till exempel implementering av backups, adekvat dataskydd samt god Patch Management (d.v.s. protokoll för att åtgärda sårbarheter i programvara). I arbetet sammanställs en branschkonsensus för hur organisationer skall arbeta gentemot cyberattacker, specifikt ransomwareattacker. Detta har gjorts genom en litteratur- och kvalitativ intervjustudie, som sedan har analyserats och diskuterats. Intervjustudien har genomförts hos organisationer som bedöms lämpliga för detta då de dagligen arbetar med cybersäkerhet. En av rekommendationerna är att ha en bra backuprutin, där man skapar, distribuerar och testar dessa. Genom arbetet belyses även hur god patch management bör implementeras. Slutligen presenteras även en ny metod, Ransomware 3.0 där hotaktörer stjäl en organisations IT-miljö för att sedan radera denna lokalt hos organisationen och sedan säljer tillbaka denna, som används av hotaktörerna, som hittills varit okänd, där vidare forskning bör vidtas. / Cybersecurity is a constantly growing threat against organisations due to the increasingly digitalisation of society, although there are signs that the consciousness at organisations has increased regarding cyberattacks and cybersecurity. Cyberattacks can create consequences that can restrain an organisations operations. This creates the foundation for this study, to see how the defence capabilities has developed. A cyberattack can, in the worst case scenario, threaten an organisations ability to survive. In regards to the new threat, ransomware, where the threat actor encrypts the victim’s files and demands a ransom, the consequences can be fatal. The new methods associated with ransomware, where the threat actor also exfiltrates the victim’s files, strongly impact the organisations ability to operate. This could lead to economic consequences, as well as damages towards stakeholder relations. Most protective measures applies towards ransomware, however there are some especially important aspects that are presented in this paper, such as implementation of backups, sufficient data protection as well as good Patch Management (protocol to patch vulnerabilities in software). In this paper, an industry consensus on how organisations should work against cyberattacks, especially ransomware, is compiled. This was performed through a litterature and a qualitative interview study. Both studies has been analysed and discussed.The interview study has been accomplished by interviewing appropriate organisations that work with cyber security daily. One of the recommendations is to have a good backup protocol, which implies creating, distributing and testing these backups. This paper also presents how a good patch management should be implemented. Finally, this paper presents a new method, Ransomware 3.0 where the threat actor steals an organisations IT environment, and then destroys the local copy at the organisation to then sell it back, that is used by the threat actors, that is still uncommon knowledge, where continued research have to be conducted.

Le procédé de passerelle entre la conciliation et la sauvegarde - Approche comparative droit français/droit OHADA / The bridging process between conciliation and safeguarding, in a comparative French law approach/OHADA law

Cette thèse porte sur le procédé de passerelle entre la conciliation et la sauvegarde, dans une approche comparative droit français, droit OHADA. Le procédé de passerelle permet au chef d’entreprise d’élaborer un plan de redressement dans le cadre de la conciliation, avant de le faire adopter lors d’une sauvegarde accélérée. La présente thèse se subdivise en deux parties. Dans la première partie, un diagnostic est posé pour comprendre les raisons de l’adoption de ce mécanisme de traitement des difficultés des entreprises en droit français, et celles qui pourraient ou non justifier sa reconnaissance en droit OHADA. Il ressort de cette partie que, dans les droits français et OHADA, la rigidité du régime de la cessation des paiements ainsi que l’unanimité obligatoire de l’accord de conciliation constituent un handicap au redressement des entreprises, car le principe d’unanimité donne un droit de véto à chaque créancier. Le procédé de passerelle permet de passer outre l’opposition des créanciers minoritaires qui utilisent ce droit de véto pour faire adopter le projet de redressement du chef d’entreprise par vote majoritaire sur le terrain judiciaire. Dans la deuxième partie, une étude prospective est menée ; le procédé de plan pré-négocié joue un rôle à la fois préventif et curatif : il permet, d’une part, la libre négociation, entre un débiteur et ses créanciers, d’un plan conventionnel de restructuration et, d’autre part, l’anticipation de l’intervention du tribunal pour optimiser l’actif et maîtriser le passif. Le procédé de passerelle est adopté en droit français ; la présente thèse propose une étude de son régime juridique. Il n’est pas reconnu pour le moment en droit OHADA ; son applicabilité y est analysée. Pour l’amélioration de la prévention et du traitement des difficultés des entreprises dans les droits français et OHADA, des pistes sont proposées. Il en est ainsi notamment, d’un côté, de l’adoption des comités de créanciers dans la procédure de conciliation française et, de l’autre, de la reconnaissance du mécanisme de plan pré-négocié, de la réforme du régime de la cessation des paiements et de la spécialisation des tribunaux connaissant des contentieux régis par l’AUPC en droit OHADA. La présente étude, en plus d’apporter une contribution scientifique à l’étude des nouvelles procédures de sauvegarde accélérée en droit français, vise à lancer le débat sur l’opportunité de l’adoption du procédé de passerelle en droit OHADA. L’organisation de la cession pré-arrangée dans le cadre du mandat ad hoc en droit français et l’opportunité de l’adoption d’une telle cession en droit OHADA sont des problématiques qui pourraient faire l’objet d’une recherche. / This thesis focuses on the bridging process between conciliation and safeguarding, in a comparative French law approach, OHADA law. The gateway method allows the entrepreneur to develop a recovery plan in the context of conciliation, before adopting it during an accelerated backup. This thesis is divided into two parts. In the first part, a diagnosis is made to understand the reasons of the adoption of this mechanism of treatment of the difficulties of the companies in French law, and those which could or could not justify its recognition in OHADA law. It appears from this section that, in the French and OHADA laws, the rigidity of the system of cessation of payments and the compulsory unanimity of the conciliation agreement constitute a handicap to the recovery of the undertakings, since the principle of unanimity a veto right to each creditor. The gateway process makes it possible to override the opposition of the minority creditors who use this right of veto to get the project of recovery of the head of enterprise adopted by majority vote on the legal ground. In the second part, a prospective study is conducted; The pre-negotiated plan process plays both a preventive and curative role : it allows, on the one hand, the free negotiation, between a debtor and its creditors, of a conventional restructuring plan and, on the other hand, the anticipation of court intervention to optimize assets and control liabilities. The gateway method is adopted in French law; this thesis proposes a study of its legal regime. He is not recognized for the moment in OHADA law ; its applicability is analyzed. For the improvement of the prevention and the treatment of the difficulties of the companies in the French rights and OHADA, tracks are proposed. This is notably the case, on the one hand, of the adoption of the creditor committees in the French conciliation procedure and, on the other, of the recognition of the pre-negotiated plan mechanism, of the reform of the cessation of payments and specialization of courts dealing with disputes governed by the AUPC under OHADA law. This study, in addition to making a scientific contribution to the study of new accelerated safeguard procedures in French law, aims to launch the debate on the appropriateness of the adoption of the OHADA gateway process. The organization of the pre-arranged assignment under the ad hoc mandate in French law and the advisability of adopting such an assignment in OHADA law are issues that could be the subject of research.

Network Resource Management in Infrastructure-as-a-Service Clouds

Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) is a form of utility computing which has emerged with the recent innovations in the service computing and data communication technologies. Regardless of the fact that IaaS is attractive for application service providers, satisfying user requests while ensuring cloud operational objectives is a complicated task that raises several resource management challenges. Among these challenges, limited controllability over network services delivered to cloud consumers is prominent in single datacenter cloud environments. In addition, the lack of seamless service migration and optimization, poor infrastructure utilization, and unavailability of efficient fault tolerant techniques are noteworthy challenges in geographically distributed datacenter clouds. Initially in this thesis, a datacenter resource management framework is presented to address the challenge of limited controllability over cloud network traffic. The proposed framework integrates network virtualization functionalities offered by software defined networking (SDN) into cloud ecosystem. To provide rich traffic control features to IaaS consumers, control plane virtualization capabilities offered by SDN have been employed. Secondly, a quality of service (QoS) aware seamless service migration and optimization framework has been proposed in the context of geo-distributed datacenters. Focus has been given to a mobile end-user scenario where frequent cloud service migrations are required to mitigate QoS violations. Finally, an SDN-based dynamic fault restoration scheme and a shared backup-based fault protection scheme have been proposed. The fault restoration has been achieved by introducing QoS-aware reactive and shared risk link group-aware proactive path computation algorithms. Shared backup protection has been achieved by optimizing virtual and backup link embedding through a novel integer linear programming approach. The proposed solutions significantly improve bandwidth utilization in inter-datacenter networks while recovering from substrate link failures.

混合雲帳號整合、檔案權限管理與同步系統之研究 / A Research into Account Integration, Authorization and Content Synchronization of Hybrid Cloud

隨著網際網路的蓬勃發展、雲端運算的興起,各種公有雲端服務林立,企業組織擁有更多不同的選擇與更經濟的解決方案,因此也願意投入更多花費在公有雲上。其中,最重要的一項服務為檔案同步與分享服務(File Synchronization and Sharing, FSS),其可為企業組織帶來生產力,但在無法完全信任公有雲端服務的情況下,在檔案管理及服務上勢必會採用混合雲部署,私有雲端環境用來處理敏感度較高的資料而敏感度較低的檔案及文件才會採用公有雲端服務。 本研究將探討在混合雲環境下會遇到的使用者多重帳號及身分,以及檔案一致性的問題。我們提出一套整合不同雲端平台帳號的架構和方法,在檔案同步上,設計出三次同步訊息交換和兩階段同步的機制,並且架構出一個入口網站(Portal)服務,根據以上設計架構,實作出一個在混合雲環境,跨本地端、公有雲與私有雲的雲端帳號整合,檔案權限管理與同步之系統,最終可以解決在混合雲環境,不同雲端平台多重帳號的困擾,並可以維持不同裝置和雲端之間檔案資料和權限一致性。本研究最後針對實作出的系統之三大功能模組進行測試,驗證本系統各元件模組的正確性和穩定性,測試結果都是通過的;也針對公、私有雲端,測試檔案同步時間,衡量各種大小檔案同步所需要花費的時間,驗證本系統的效能和實用性。 / As rapid growth of cloud computing and Internet, there are variety public cloud service providers on the market, and enterprises will have more choices and economical IT solutions, therefore, they are willing to spend more on public cloud. Although, the most significant of cloud-based productivity services is file synchronization and sharing, enterprises cannot fully trust public cloud, they will deploy file management system with hybrid cloud which they store less sensitive data on public cloud and highly sensitive data on private cloud. This study aim to design a system on hybrid cloud deployment that can solve the problems regarding too many online accounts and synchronize data and permissions between different devices and cloud to maintain consistency. We propose a method to integrate accounts on different cloud and design a mechanize of file synchronization which contains three steps messages flows and two stages synchronization to implement the system, otherwise, we also create a portal service. Last but not least, we test three main modules of the system to verify correctness and stability and the results are all pass. Also, we measure the synchronization time of files with different size to verify effectiveness and practicality.
