Modelování parametrů spalovacích motorů

Master thesis deals with the link between the internal and external parameters of the combustion engine. Its point is not to exactly define this links but only check if this links exist and what is their character. First part of the thesis is dedicated to present state of the mixture preparation systems of the petrol engines. Here are described the ways of the lambda regulation and its effect of the specific fuel consumption. Further are described types of injection systems and at the end is described the way for the determination of the ignition advance. Second part is focused on the chosen mathematics-statistics methods which are interesting and useful for the solving this problem. Last part is paid to the verification of the existence the links of the operating parameters and attempt of their definition in numeric way using the Maple software and chosen mathematics-statistics methods.

Vzorce a procesy prostorové distribuce rostlinných druhů napříč škálami / Patterns and processes in spatial distribution of plant species across scales

In this thesis, I aimed to identify factors shaping plant distribution at different spatial scales, correlate them with environmental heterogeneity, identify causal processes and test general hypothesis on the nature of response curve shapes and species richness patterns. General review of the topic is introduced in the first chapter, followed by five chapters presenting three already published studies and two manuscripts. The first study deals with processes responsible for creation of fine-scaled spatial pattern of spruce seedlings and saplings, emerging after bark-beetle disturbance in mountain spruce forest. Aggregated pattern, replicating previous generation of spruce trees, emerges in consequence to microsite-dependent mortality, as was surveyed through repeated monitoring of the fate of individual seedlings. The second study explores spatial variability in forest understory temperatures at the landscape scale and its relevance for understory plant distribution. As the main source of variability in understory communities we identified seasonal maximum temperatures. Using GIS modelling approach, we created spatially continuous prediction, which outperformed state-of-art climatic grids used currently by ecologists. Biodiversity trends (such as the relationship between species richness and temperature or productivity) are always defined for a particular taxon at a specific area (the entire range of the taxon or often just a region arbitrarily chosen by researchers). The form of these trends varies between taxa and regions. The weak relationship between richness and temperature or productivity is sometimes interpreted as a counterevidence for the hypothesis explaining diversity patterns by these variables. However, the delimitation of taxa or region may play a crucial role for the form of the trends. The aim of this thesis is to determine whether some taxon properties (its size) or region properties (its area, range of explanatory variables, the temperature-productivity relationship or average temperature) affect the strength and slope of the richness-temperature and richness-productivity relationships. 46 data sets of species richness for a wide range of plants, invertebrates and ectothermic vertebrates within different regions of the world were used for the analysis. While the taxon size is likely to affect the strength and slope of the relationship when comparing individual (nested) subclades within larger clade, the comparison of different taxa in different regions of the world shows only the effect of the region...

Altitudinal gradients constitute a powerful test system for understanding distribution of species around the globe. Tropical mountains are quite rich in species even after controlling for environmental productivity, and are ideally suited for studying patterns of species distributions because they have had sufficient time for species to produce a response to environmental changes that affect their life histories. In this thesis, I investigate basic ecological mechanisms potentially behind avian distribution patterns along an altitudinal gradient in West-Central Africa. I used data collected with four methodological approaches (point counts, mist netting, random walks and artificial nest experiments) along an altitudinal gradient on Mt. Cameroon from October 2011 to September 2013. This work is focused on two interrelated themes: selection pressures on life histories (Chapters 1, 2, 3 & 4), and avian assemblage structures (Chapters 5 & 6). To identify and quantify the influence of physico-chemical, biotic and geographic factors on the population of dragonflies (Odonata) is an essential tool for research of their ecology. The aim of this study was to 1) assess how these factors influence species richness, diversity and spatial distribution of dragonflies in 42 newly constructed or renewed pools located in the Kokořínsko Protected Landscape Area, which is characterized by two valleys of Liběchovka and Pšovka creeks, low human impact, and a great diversity of small water bodies and 2) use laboratory experiments in order to estimate the relationship between large predatory invertebrates of these pools (Aeshna cyanea, Coenagrion puella, Chaoborus crystallinus and Notonecta glauca) and their common prey (Daphnia curvirostris) in an artificial environment with or without aquatic macrophytes. The pools were monitored and sampled between years 2005 and 2006. In total, 23 dragonflies species were found inhabiting these lentic habitats, comprising 11 species belonging to the suborder Zygoptera and 12 species belonging to the suborder Anisoptera, including a rare species Sympetrum depressiusculum (larvae). The thesis focuses on the study of arboreal ant communities in a highly diverse tropical rainforest in Papua New Guinea. In the first study of its kind, whole patches of forest were sampled extensively for ants foraging and nesting in tree trunks and canopies. An extraordinary amount of material collected from 684 felled trees and 260 bait stations in plots of primary and secondary forest was used to study the mechanisms structuring the diversity and species coexistence of this ecologically important insect group at the local scale. The first chapter addresses the question "Why are ant communities more species rich in primary than in secondary forests?" and explores the main environmental traits that influence their diversity in tropical trees. The second chapter compares the community diversity and composition and nesting preferences of ant species between both forest types. The final third chapter introduces a novel method, involving large-scale manipulation of ant communities that could serve as a template for future studies focused on complex tropical food-webs of canopy arthropods and plants. In summary, the results of the thesis highlight the importance of primary vegetation in conserving the diversity of native ant communities and the relevance of nesting microhabitats and their turnover between trees, rather than tree taxonomic diversity, for sustaining the diverse arboreal fauna in tropical forests.

This thesis discusses theoretical analysis of the origin of speech, introduces applications of speech technologies and explains the contemporary approach to phonetical transcription of speech recordings. Furthermore, it describes the metrics of audio recordings quality assessment, which is split into two discrete classes. The first one groups signal quality metrics, while the other one groups content richness metrics. The first goal of the practical section is to create a statistical model for accuracy prediction of machine transcription of speech recordings based on a measurement of their quality. The second goal is to evaluate which partial metrics are the most essential for accuracy prediction of machine transcription.

Severní a jižní limity areálů suchozemských měkkýšů Evropy na severojižním gradientu / On the Nothernmost and Southernmost Limits of European Land Snail Spatial Ranges

The aim of this work was to evaluate the limits of ranges of European land snail species along the north-south gradient. To work out the document it was necessary to prepare the set of digitalized maps, that enabled to create the database of ranges of the individual land snails species. Based on obtained data I tried to identify places where the northern and southern borders of species ranges are the most frequent. The landsnails' ranges are affected not only by particular life requirements of the individual species (potential limits), but also by other conditions, especially climatic, geographical and historical (truncated limits). In this work I focused on their differentiation. Above mentioned process also enabled me to track the north- south changes in species richness of the landsnails taking into consideration the truncated and potential limits. The most important natural barriers constraining that numerous of species cannot naturally widespread from the south to the north are the Scandinavian Mountains, the Alpes and the Carpathians and suprisingly also southern borders of german and polish lowlands. This thesis deals with biodiversity-productivity relationship in desmid communities. Biodiversity is found to be changing globally. The biodiversity-productivity relationship is therefore an important research topic. Three aspects of biodiversity are thought to play an important role: species richness, functional diversity and phylogenetic diversity. It is known that in general, productivity is positively correlated with diversity. Interactions between different metrics of biodiversity are known less. Existing studies have shown that these interactions might be present. In general, biodiversity-productivity studies were mostly focused on plants. Less is known about other organisms, including algae. In this work I explore the relationship between overyielding and functional or phylogenetic diversity on a species richness gradient of desmid communities. I conducted an artificial biodiversity- ecosystem functioning experiment using combinations of two to 12 desmid species. Communities differed in the diversity aspects. I had measured the biomass growth. For the analysis, I have used the overyielding index, which is based on a comparison of a polyculture production with the production expected based on monoculture yields. Military areas are extraordinary biodiversity-rich due to limited economic activities and a specific way of using the areas for military training. Previous research has also revealed their positive influence on bird species diversity, this applies to endangered species in particular. However, the exact biotope characteristics attracting birds are insufficiently known. In this regard, I expected an important role of heterogeneity of the environment. The aim of the thesis was therefore: (I) to find out the difference of environmental heterogeneity between a military area (MA) and the surrounding landscape, both in a forest and a non-forest sites, (II) to find out what biotope characteristics attract birds in open landscape and (III) what characteristics attract birds in forest. Fieldwork took place in a still active MA of Hradiště and neighboring controls of Bochov and Ostrov. In total, 80 study plots were surveyed for representation of individual biotopes (39 types in total) and the number of fragments of woody vegetation.
