Působení a vliv Karla Lamače ve filmovém průmyslu první republiky / Working and influence of Karel Lamač in the film industry of the First Czechoslovak Republic

The submitted diploma thesis is engaged in working of the film industry in Czechoslovakia in period among two world wars, which is seen through the important actor, scriptwriter, director and film entrepreneur Karel Lamač. The issue is researched especially from the perspective of formation and activity of the film companies which were professional associated with the person of Lamač. It is followed up the family background which he came from, and the milieu where he worked the First World War. It further focuses on Lamač's first steps in the field of cinematography after 1918 and on his working at the time of the First Czechoslovak Republic. It is also reflected Lamač's activity as an inventor and a journalistic author, as well as related financial profit from the subsequent sale of patents or licences to the created movies. The thesis tries to clear up the mechanisms that led to exceptional position of this artist in the Czechoslovak film industry, with regard to his professional outreach to the international sphere. The study also devotes to Lamač's most significant projects and co-workers in the field of cinematography in order to refer the extent to which he contributed to the popularity of contemporary film-stars. This Diploma Paper is outlined in order to show the reader one of the possible ways of how to introduce the antiquity to children. Our journey will take us to the oldest times of human history which left us almighty heritage not only in the field of art. In the theoretical part we will meet the prehistoric art together with the evolution of human kind and we will look into the expositions of prehistoric settlement that took place in the territory of our state. Nowadays these expositions can be find in collections of our museums. The hinge part of Diploma Paper is focused on methodology. The relevant questions about prehistorical mammoth hunters, which is introduced in all its width, is carried over to artwork and projects that are the samples of work of pupils from primary schools. Particularly thanks to them it was possible for the exhibition {\clqq}Expedition after the mammoth hunters`` to start up. I would be pleased if my Diploma Paper became interesting inspiration for my collegues {--} teachers and pedagogues in their work with children as well as the exhibition The mammoth hunters in the National Museum was for me.

This master's thesis The picture of concentration camps in Czech prose of the 50's analyses selected literary works from 1950᾿s. These works are presented by different author's approaches from presented reality. First part of this work focuses on concept of "Holocaust" and on possibility of its verb representation as well. Another part of thesis deals with development of "literature with topic of Holocaust" from 1945 to contemporary times. The emphasis is placed to the texts from 1950᾿s and 1960᾿s that had formed reader's memory. Next chapter observe a permeation and reciprocal influencing of historical and fictional discourse. The picture of life in Nazi concentration camps, the author's character creation as well as representation of Jewishness are analyzed in these works: A Box of Lives by Norbert Frýd, Osm odtamtud by E. This diploma thesis deals with the theatricality of Milada Horáková and company trial and its theatrical reflections. In this thesis, the political trial is regarded as an ideological fiction on the grounds of the ritual and theatrical character. The dramas, which are inspired with this trial, are interpreted in the following chapters. First of them, it deals with Pařeniště by E. F. Burian in the context of the socialist realism, which was put on the stage in a short time after this trial. It paid attention to re-putting on the stage in 2008 as well. The last part of this thesis deals with contemporary productions, which are inspired with this trial (Horáková, Gottwald by Karel Steigerwald and opera Tomorrow will... by Aleš Březina and Jiří Nekvasil), which depict absurdity and bizzare atmosphere of this trial.
