Métrica, proporção e luz: arquitetura sagrada moderna no Brasil / Metric, proportion and light: modern sacred architecture in Brazil

Santos, Pedro Alberto Palma dos 16 April 2015 (has links)
The research focuses on modern religious architecture produced in Brazil, its history and its process of renewal throughout the twentieth century and the natural light as the protagonist of this space and the use of proportioning techniques in plastic composition of the churches as effective to mobilize human perception. The study object of this research is configured through religious architecture produced by Modern Movement in Brazil characters: Oscar Niemeyer, Edgar Guimarães Valle, Dominikus Böhm, Gottfried Böhm, Adolf Franz Heep, Edgar Oliveira Fonseca, Joaquim Guedes, Hans Broos, Antonio Carlos Farias Pedrosa, Jeronimo Bonilha Esteves, Israel Sancovski and Carlos Alberto Naves. In a historical definition, is limited to the period between 1940 and 1970, the implementation phase, assimilation and consolidation of modern principles in Brazil. Through the study and analysis of the chosen chapels and churches, the research reveals the ways in which the architect got the bright idea, the problem of measurements and proportions and how it was reflected in the expressions and languages that involve architecture. For this, the paper analyzes thirteen works. Representative programs of this architecture to be studied will be chapels and Catholic churches.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Felipe Beltran Katz.pdf: 3043130 bytes, checksum: 20132492cb571c38c6960989ada1326e (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-10-15 / This work tries to point out the diversity of the oriental Christianity in Sao Paulo, through the oriental churches. These institutions are connected to the immigrant communities that came to Sao Paulo since the 19th century until the mid 20th century. Amongst the oriental Christians that have come to the city are Arabs, Armenians, Greeks, Russians and Ukrainians. These communities are divided in twelve different churches, that are located in different areas of the city. The research is based on the collected testimony of each clergy member of each church, some oriental Christians from Sao Paulo and bibliography that studies the historical experience of these institutions in other parts of the world. Far from being something completely strict, presenting Rites and peculiarities of ancient Christianity, the oriental churches of Sao Paulo are inserted in the daily life of the metropolis. These churches try to mediate their past, while maintaining the faith and culture of immigrant groups with their current situation in the city. A situation where the 1st generation of immigrants is diminishing trough age and the migratory flux is not being renewed. The oriental churches, according to the testimony of clerics and faithful, are experiencing a reflexive moment in their course in the metropolis. However, this work does not try to judge which church best preserves it‟s past, but understand that they are part of the daily life of the city. They are oriental churches from Sao Paulo, therefore, their situation permeates appropriations that best respond their experience in Sao Paulo / O trabalho busca apontar a diversidade do cristianismo oriental paulistano, debruçando-se sobre as Igrejas Orientais.

Divergences des univers psycho-culturels et formation des représentations sociales du Sida au Congo : Perceptions, presse et étudiants de Bayardelle / Psycho-cultural differences universe and formation of social representations of AIDS in Congo : Perceptions, press and students of Brazzaville

Moulié, Jean Gide 13 January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this study focuses on "differences of psycho-cultural universe and the formation of social representations AIDS Congo: Perceptions, press and students in Brazzaville." This study highlights a pandemic that affects sexuality. In this context, the psycho-cultural universe take the place of groups of individuals who interpret the social phenomenon of AIDS, taking into account their cultural attachments (modernism and ancestral tradition). Thus, since the advent of AIDS, training its social representations AIDS converge with the culture of individuals who interpret. To carry out this study, our methods of data collections were: the documentary observation raised the 518 newspapers articles of The Dépêches de Brazzaville and analyzed thematically. To complete this method, 521 students of Bayardelle and other Brazzaville's citizens were interviewed with the aim of diversifying opinion on the matter. In short, the methodology of this study revealed that the differences psycho-cultural worlds are the source of the formation of social representations of AIDS. Similarly, this study also understand that the social representations of AIDS complicate prevention in Brazzaville. Hence, for successful actions against AIDS, here, the actors must now take account of RS AIDS in Brazzaville

A iluminação natural na arquitetura religiosa: qualidade e desempenho luminoso em sistemas de iluminação natural geral da nave em igrejas católicas com referência à cidade de São Paulo / Natural lighting in religious architecture: quality and luminous performance in general natural lighting systems of the nave in Catholic churches with reference to the city of São Paulo.

Amanda Vanessa Monaco Peixoto 19 April 2017 (has links)
This research intends to analise the use of daylighting in contemporary religious buildings, with special concern to those at the metropolitan region of São Paulo. Based on a selection of seven buildings that stand out for their concern with natural lighting since the initial sketch, which resulted in spaces with scenic quality of light and expressive visual comfort, are recognized natural lighting strategies that were applied to this design typology. This analysis of references is made through field visits and studies based on the reference bibliography. Three of the identified strategies are selected for further analytical studies, where one can gain a better understanding of their functioning. Such studies are done on modeling and computational simulation, always inserting studies in the of the city of São Paulo\'s climate. After analysis based on analytical studies, each of the three systems studied has is functioning characterized, allowing its conscious application in future projects, considering both the plastic effect and the visual comfort. The Roof Monitor focuses the brightness on the side walls of the church. The Clerestory, in turn, concentrates it in the central axis of the church. Meanwhile, the high side windows produce a bright zone that shifts more clearly through the nave as the hours pass. The openings dimensioning should be done in a way that allows visual comfort for as many hours as possible during the year. The result will be a church where light plays the leading role in highlighting architecture and, at the same time, allows liturgical activities to develop without visual difficulties.

A Historical Description of the Areal Distribution of the Churches of Warren County, Kentucky

Adams, Neilam 01 May 1971 (has links)
Religion is a part of man and his culture. We cannot understand the totality of man if we do not understand his religion. The church structure is the visible expression of man's religion. The purpose of this study is to describe the distribution of churches in Warren County, Kentucky, and to examine the factors that contribute to this areal pattern. In an attempt to further clarify this human-religious expression the following points will be considered: (1) the reasons for denominational change through time; (2) the association of church location and population with corresponding rural -urban shifts; and (3) the style of church architecture as a response to local community need. A familiar pattern of settlement in the United States is the rural to urban migration of population that has been in effect since the beginning of the twentieth century. This migration has brought a change in the rural landscape. The further one goes from an urban center the less dense the population. Homes have been deserted and left to fall down; villages contain vacant stores and buildings. One would expect a corresponding pattern within the rural churches. However, there has not been a reduction of rural churches, while at the same time there has been a dynamic growth in the urban center. The reasons for this phenomena will be examined and discussed.
