My diploma thesis deals with legal issues of agricultural collectivization (cooperativization) of Czech villages in 50th years of 20th century. This period produced many personal tragedies, destroyed lives, caused material damages and disrupted traditional village social structure. The thesis is divided into five chapters, in the beginning, the focus is on the idea of "collectivization of agriculture" in general (its meaning, origin, time before this process and also generalization in the context of the Eastern bloc countries). Next chapter is specialized on the process of collectivization in Czechoslovakia including the time of this period and definition of general used word (the word "JZD" and "státní statek" and the Soviet Union's equivalents "kolchoz" and "sovchoz"). The main point of the thesis is in the third chapter which describes very precisely first phase of agricultural collectivization in Czechoslovakia (preparation, approval of the "JZD" act, transformation according to soviet collectivization and analysis of methods used in the process of big farmers' liquidation and property confiscation). Diploma thesis The collectivization of agriculture in village Puklice 1949 - 1959 deals not only with the period which is mentioned in the title of this work but it also tries to cover the agricultural development of Jihlava´s region and district considering Puklice as the concrete example in the period from the end of the Second World War to the beginning of the sixtieth. An important event in history of all Jihlava´s region is connected with the end of the Second World War, the initial point of this interval. This region was settled by German inhabitants from 13th century and these Germans were displaced. Their post-war expulsion meant an appreciable interference to the economic expansion of this region. In years 1959 ? 1960 the rebuilding of a village according to the communist model ? the socialization of the village - was finished. This date is also associated with the end of Jihlava´s region as an administrative region existing from 1949 for the whole process of collectivization in agriculture. The aim of this work is to demonstrate the process of collectivization in agriculture during the 1950´s in the instance of one region and one concrete village because this period was decisive in the towards of socialism in Czechoslovakia and it influenced the country to the contemporary days. At the same time the work should contain the negative side of the collectivization ? the mass unlawfulness against the innocent people. Last but not least the work makes an effort to broaden people?s mind that relates to the socialization of the country in region Jihlavsko. Our source of information was, in addition to the technical literature focused on agriculture and political situations of the 1950´s, archival materials, a local chronicle and also personal memories of the living contemporaries and the participants of agricultural collectivization.

Search the library catalog for the location and call number. / Peasant experiences of agricultural collectivization in Uzbekistan followed an overarching pattern familiar from studies of collectivization elsewhere in the USSR but simultaneously bore the deep imprint of Central Asia's unique history of Soviet rule since the revolution. State control remained weak in the Uzbek village, and Uzbek officials at the local level were forced to mediate between pressure from the central authorities and pressure from traditional village norms. As a result, the contours of collectivization in Uzbekistan were defined as much by local specificities and face-to-face relationships as by central policy. Uzbek peasants initially engaged in mass resistance to collectivization, drawing on a tradition of comprehensive opposition to Soviet rule on grounds of culture, Islam, nation, and village solidarity. The purpose of this survey is to identify and investigate the impact of management on communal cattle farmers of Madikwe in the Province of North West. Quantitative research was conduct to find information from some of the stakeholders such as farmers, herdsmen and youth. The survey method was used to conduct the study. The population approached were farmers, herdsmen and chiefs. 4000 respondents were expected to complete the questionnaires, but only 350 respondents returned usable questionnaires which were analysed. The quantitative research conducted revealed that communal farmers of Madikwe are not practicing sound farm management.
