Ökad livskvalitet hos fysiskt funktionsnedsatta individer : Faktorer att beakta vid utveckling av välfärdsteknik / Increased quality of life for physically disabled individuals : Factors to consider when developing welfare technology

De Binder, Jimi January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to support physically disabled people in everyday life by examining which factors contribute and should be taken into account in the development of welfare technology products. Therefore, three research questions have been created that aim to identify human, technical and critical success factors. Investigating these factors that benefit the studied field is considered to be very important, as all the benefits that can come with the use of a welfare technical aid are strongly associated with user-friendliness. If the product is not useful to the end user, the benefits are also lost. These factors are intended to be identified with the help of a systematic literature study. This research method was considered the most suitable, as the amount of data that can be examined and analyzed is greater than what has emerged with alternative methods. The results of the study consist of identified factors and various benefits associated with them. On the other hand, what really emerged regardless of the type of factor was the need and willingness to include stakeholders and end users in the development.

IN AN ERA OF UNCERTAINTY : A study of challenges and success factors in the transition from physical to digital meetings

Kindstedt, Karl January 2021 (has links)
Organisations are taking various initiatives to digitally transform their operations to keep up and compete in the increasingly harsh and technology-centred business climate. Part of organisations work with digital transformation is derived from implementing and integrating digital communication tools, making it possible for two or more remote people to communicate. In order to successfully succeed with the introduction of digital communication in the form of digital meetings in an organisation, previous literature has identified both challenges and success factors that are important to consider. However, previous literature assumes that companies have time for both planning and evaluation of the digital transformation. When the Covid-19 pandemic broke out in society, organisations were forced to accelerate in the digital transformation and introduce digital meeting technology, while a long-term approach was no longer possible. This study examines what success factors are required and what challenges exist when a rapid and forced transformation is a must due to changing business conditions. The problem is examined through the research question:What factors do organisations that need to transform from physical to digital meetings in a short period of time need to take into account?A literature review of existing theories in the subject area is carried out to answer the research question, and a qualitative data collection is carried out with semi-structured interviews. Data collection takes place with respondents from small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) in the manufacturing industry who have undergone a digital transformation from physical to digital meetings. The result demonstrates 12 challenges and success factors that SMEs in the manufacturing industry should consider to quickly digitally transform from physical to digital meetings.

Strategies for Integrating and Sustaining Disruptive Innovations in Small Businesses

Allen, Robert 01 January 2018 (has links)
The evolution of technology has led to a need for business leaders to embrace disruptive technology for the purpose of capturing new markets and remaining competitive. Multiple challenges have been faced by business leaders in the processes of integrating and sustaining disruptive innovations, resulting in the failure to achieve expected efficiency and profitability. The purpose of this multiple case study was to explore strategies used by business leaders to integrate and sustain disruptive innovations. The conceptual frameworks were Roger's diffusion of innovation theory and Christensen's disruptive innovation theory. Semistructured interviews were administered to 10 business leaders and employees from institutions of higher learning in the Northeastern region of the United States. The participants were selected using a purposive nonrandom sampling technique. The selection criteria included organizational leaders, technology professionals, training and development professionals, and organizational end-users. Three themes and several subthemes were identified. The strategies for integrating and sustaining disruptive innovations include training, changeover mechanisms, and the use of critical resources. The procedural and structural factors in processes to integrate and sustain disruptive innovations include identifying critical success factors, ascertaining benchmarks, determining levels of support and effectiveness. Obstacles faced during the processes of integrating and sustaining disruptive innovations were categorized into human, technology, changeover, and external issues. Social change may be realized through the improved success rates of small business leaders implementing disruptive innovations by increasing meaningful employment and enhancing livelihoods.

Exploring Success Factors in Certifying Green Buildings : Early Project Stages of Certified Swedish Construction Projects / Utforskning av framgångsfaktorer i certifieringen av gröna byggnader

Dalén, Frida, Erickson, Michaela January 2023 (has links)
Greenhouse gas emissions are increasing every year, and in Sweden the construction industrystands for one fifth of the total emissions. One way for construction companies to push formore sustainable development is through voluntary sustainability certifications. As the numberof certified projects continues to rise, how to manage these projects during the early stagesbecomes an increasingly important question. Therefore, the purpose of this report has been toexplore and identify factors of success, connected to the management of certified constructionprojects during early project stages, in a relatively unexplored Swedish context. Data was collected through a literature review and seventeen semi-structured interviews withindustry professionals, and the following thematic analysis resulted in a refined list of factorsto consider during early project stages for successful certification. By applying critical successfactor (CSF) as theoretical framework, fifteen critical success factors were identified andcompared with those from previous research. Integrating the certification, planning for it duringearly stages, certification reconciliation meetings and a driven and competent specialist areexamples of identified CSFs from this list. Conclusions drawn in this report are that the Swedish context does not differ much fromprevious research, as most success factors had previously been identified by others.Furthermore, the results of this report indicate that the sustainability specialist, coordinator orconsultant is an increasingly important role for certified projects, and that they need trust, mandate and space to coordinate the work with the certification. Lastly, contributions havebeen made to the field of research on certified construction projects by providing a list ofsuccess factors with examples and data from Swedish industry professionals. This list canadditionally be considered by industry professionals when undertaking certified constructionprojects. Some issues concerning the application of CSF as framework have also beendiscussed in this report, which researchers in the field can consider for their future researchendeavors.

Kritiska framgångsfaktorer för fastighetsägande bolag / Critical Success Factors for Property Owning Companies

Arafat, Dalill, Czerkinsky, Karolina January 2019 (has links)
Forskningen presenteras i fyra huvuddelar. / The real estate industry in Stockholm is in growth, urbanization is continuous, the housing queueis longer than ever before and the vacancy rate for office spaces is at a record low. The intensivemarket competition forces real estate organizations to adopt strategies to ensure survival, growthand development in a fast-growing environment. In this regard, organizational methods andtechniques has become a prioritized field of study. The real estate companies' success should catcheveryone's attention as these are of great importance for the economic and social life of an area. This study is placed in this theoretical framework and aims to identify the critical success factorsfor property owning companies in Stockholm, both from a holistic and property managementperspective. The study also aims at investigating any differences in critical success factorsdepending on what type of real estate the company is specialized in. Furthermore, the studyhighlights if there are any differences in critical success factors depending on geographicallocations and whether it has an influence on property companies’ decisions on whether to expandin new locations. The methodology of the study includes interviews with six real estate companiesrelated to the property management sector in Stockholm, as well as Hans Lind, ex professor in realestate economics at KTH. The interviews were administered by phone calls and personal andrecorded meetings with respondents. The model studied provides an overview that can easily beused by companies for internal analysis of critical success factors. The research is presented in four main parts. The first part encompasses the characteristics of thereal estate industry in Stockholm, specifies the research problem and determines the conceptualanalysis of the real estate industry's internal factors. The second part consists of a literature studyon critical success factors in general and in a facility management environment. The third partestablishes the method and interpretation of the results that follow the conducted interviews. Finally, the report ends with a general conclusion and recommendation. Our conclusion indicatethe existence of a common critical success factor for all property-owned companies participatingin the study: to offer local presence within owned holding. There is no significant variation amongcritical success factors depending on the companies included in study. Furthermore, all companiesconsider that there is a difference in critical success factors depending on geographical location, but it does not affect the decision whether to expand to said position or not.

Norberg, Wilma January 2023 (has links)
Many people feel anxious about a change, at the same time we live in a society that is changing at an ever-increasing rate. The changes can be big or small, and through theories from change management, it has become a well-studied topic how an organization can push through a change in a structured way. A change that many organizations choose to undergo is to implement new ERP-systems, which is considered a major change for an organization. When implementing business systems, the failure rate is high and to minimize the risk of failure, critical success factors have been developed, where one of the factors is management. Through semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis, this study has investigated what expectations there are of management before a business system change. Which resulted in 11 expectations that give a clearer picture of what, when and how management can work to reduce employees' concerns about the ERP-system change and minimize the risk of failing with its implementation.

Human Resources Development (HRD) for effective localisation of workforces. An empirical study for identifying the key success factors for the energy sector in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Al-Marzouqi, Yehya January 2010 (has links)
The objective of the current study is to explore and identify the Critical Success Factors (CSFs), which impact upon the effective implementation of Human Resource Development (HRD) initiatives in support of nationalisation, and to recommend a model for practical application and future research. Accordingly the study focused on identifying and analysing the various factors in the localisation of a workforce with regard to five broad categories, namely: national level factors, organisational (policies and practices related) factors, organisational (HR related) factors, individual level (expatriate and experienced staff related) factors and individual level (UAE national related) factors. The data for the study was collected using both qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative methods were used to develop an in-depth case study of the Emiratisation process in an oil and gas organisation, as well as for identifying the critical success factors to be included in the survey questionnaire for collecting the quantitative data. The results of the study indicated that the critical success factors identified in the study are part of a complicated reality and need to be managed to ensure success of the localisation of a workforce. The mean scores obtained on the various factors differed significantly across the organisations or sub groups of respondents used in the study. This indicates that the impact of various factors that facilitate or constrain the localisation efforts are highly contextual and organisation specific. The findings of the study revealed valuable insights that could enrich not only future research in the area, but also the practical application of HR tools and methods to support the localisation process. The current study also developed a model for practical application and future research in the area. The model identified the role of HR strategies and tools as critical for managing the CSFs and ensuring the success of the process of localisation. The model developed in the current study also emphasises the need to define the 'success' of localisation in much broader terms, by addressing complex issues such as, employee morale and motivation, expectations of all employees, including expatriates and so forth, rather than just focusing on the number of UAE nationals employed and their competencies. The current study also identified some of the limitations of the study and highlighted suggestions for future research.

Barriers in the Initial Acceptance Phase to Life-Cycle-Assessment : A Case Study of a Swedish Manufacturer

Chandok, Ishaan, Samuelsson, Martin January 2023 (has links)
Purpose: Sustainability and sustainable manufacturing has grown in importance in recent years, and more legislation and demands are put on organizations to show how their operations affect the environment. Life cycle assessment is a proactive and efficient sustainability tool to report a company’s effects on the environment. Nevertheless, life cycle assessments of products and organizations are complex and require significant resources. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate what potential barriers can occur within the initial acceptance phase when implementing life cycle assessment in the manufacturing industry. Method: This research project is a single case study of a Swedish manufacturing company. The theory was deduced from literature where eight internal factors influencing the implementation of tools and systems created a foundation for data collection and analysis. Five semi-structured interviews and unstructured observations have been conducted to collect empirical data. Findings: Nine second-order themes of factors influencing the project as barriers have been identified that construct the three aggregate dimensions ̈Lack of management support ̈, ̈Lack of resources ̈, and ̈Lack of interdepartmental coordination ̈. From the empirical findings, it is also suggested that the three aggregate dimensions are interrelated. The interrelationships are later used to find three change suggestions to mitigate the barriers by using the relationships between the dimensions and targeting as many barriers as possible. Namely, ̈educate top management ̈, ̈enhance the education of project participants ̈, and ̈spend more time on project planning ̈. Implications: This study provides a deeper and more detailed understanding of different barriers within the initial acceptance phase of a project. It also gives further insights into various interrelationships between barriers and how one dimension can influence the other in both positive and negative ways. Furthermore, this study's findings can guide managers and practitioners in preparing for a project aiming to implement a tool or a system. Limitations: As in all interpretative research, the interpretations of the empirical data are based on subjective thoughts influenced by the researcher’s positionality, the relationships with the participants, and preconceived perceptions. Furthermore, this research project is a single case study, and the results apply to this case. The findings cannot be statistically generalizable, meaning that the theories and themes created in this report should not be seen as absolute truths but instead as suggestive theories within the field.
