This research recognizes the need for building simulation/performance tools that can easily be integrated into the building design process. The study examines available simulation tools and attempts to determine why these tools are not used by building designers/architects. Findings confirm that the complexity of simulation tools created by scientists, who are more technically oriented, discourages use by architects who are more visually oriented people. The evaluation and analysis of available simulation tools suggests a thorough research methodology for creating a new front-end interface that solves current usage problems. The research is limited to the interface design of the new front-end which is named Integrated Building Design Information Interface (IBDII). The new front end provides an interface that allows designers to make more informed decisions during the design process while providing a front-end that supports AutoCAD and permits a user interface where the mode of input is graphical and not numerical. Criteria for the new front-end interface enable the development of a series of mock-up interface designs that are responsive to the needs of architects. A working graphical user interface of the building information prototype is created and is then put through an empirical user testing. The usability testing establishs the usefulness, effectiveness, likeability and learnability of the developed interface design. The testing includes six factors which act as indicators of usability and provide suggestions for future developments. The testing evaluation ascertains that the interface is easy to learn and use. Findings also show that the best feature of integrated building design information front-end is its interface design and there is room for improvement in the way input is selected.

Este trabalho trata do entendimento das atividades dos profissionais de design participantes da gestão de design e tem como objetivo geral estudar e compreender a atividade desses profissionais, almejando a melhoria dos processos de trabalho desses indivíduos nas empresas. Para alcançar o objetivo geral, foram estipulados objetivos específicos, que correspondem aos três artigos constituintes desta dissertação. O primeiro artigo propõe o desenvolvimento de uma revisão sistemática da literatura brasileira, no que tange à gestão de design, buscando identificar o estado da arte do tema em questão. O segundo foca a revisão sistemática de literatura no profissional de design participante da gestão de design, em nível nacional e internacional. Já o terceiro artigo apresenta um estudo de caso com três profissionais de design, mapeando a atividade interna e externa desses profissionais nas empresas e, assim, esclarecendo a estrutura e os fatores intervenientes dessa atividade, bem como as relações com seus principais interlocutores nas organizações. A metodologia utilizada neste trabalho tem caráter exploratório. Em um primeiro momento, foi realizada uma revisão sistemática de literatura, de natureza aplicada e, em um segundo momento, uma pesquisa qualitativa, a partir de um estudo de caso, com realização de entrevistas em profundidade. Como resultado, pôde-se perceber a estrutura e os fatores intervenientes da atividade do profissional de design, bem como suas relações com seus principais interlocutores nas organizações. / This document is about the understanding of the activities of design professionals participating in the design management and aims to study and understand the activity of these professionals, targeting the improvement of the work processes of these individuals in the companies. To achieve the overall objective, specific goals were set, corresponding to the three articles of this dissertation. The first article proposes the development of a systematic review of Brazilian literature, regarding the design management, seeking to identify the state of the art of the theme. The second one focus on the systematic review of the literature of the design professional participating in the design management, in national and international levels. The third article presents a case study with three design professionals, mapping the internal and external activities of these professional in the companies, and, this way, clarifying the structure and intervenient factors of this activity and its relations with its main coworkers in the organizations. The methodology used in this study is exploratory. At first, it was performed a systematic review of the literature, of an applied nature, and, in a second moment, a qualitative research, from a case study, with in-depth interviews. As a result, it was possible to see the structure and intervene factors of the activity of the design professional as well as its relations with its main coworkers in the organizations.

Foram realizadas três pesquisas de campo: Portugal, Brasil e nos páises pertencentes ao Mercosul. A primeira parte das pesquisas foi realizada a partir de uma pesquisa bibliográfica e documental a fim de coletar informações sobre as instituições pesquisadas na segunda parte foram realizadas entrevistas em Portugal com professores que participaram da implantação do Processo de Bolonha, a fim de perceber quais são as especificidades deste processo de forma que pudessem ser aproveitados os pontos positivos e negativos para uma possível implementação no Mercosul e no Brasil, com os coordenadores dos cursos de design no intuito de verificar como os cursos visualizam a questão da mobilidade acadêmica. Por fim, foram sugeridos indicadores que podem ser implantados em cursos de design do Mercosul visando facilitar o processo de mobilidade, em especial o aproveitamento de estudos, possibilitando, desta forma, uma maior integração regional / Over the past few years, approaches in teaching Design have been going through several changes mainly regarding internalizations. This study seeks to propose indicators for an integrated teaching system in Design for Mercosul without disrespecting laws and particularities for every region. Design courses with emphasis in Product, Design were the object of this study along with a literature review on the process of higher education internalizations, as well as guidelines, regulations and public policies for Brazilian universities. Three field researches were conducted: Portugal, Brazil and the remaining countries in Mercosul. The first part was carried out through a bibliographical and documental research in order to collect data on the institutions; the second part had interviews in Portugal with professors who took part in the Bologna process in order to realize the particularities of such process to better use both strong and week points towards a possible implementation in Mercosul and in Brazil along with coordinators in Design courses aiming to verify how courses understand academic mobility matters. Finally, some indicators were suggested as possibility for implementation in Design courses in Mercosul seeking to facilitate the mobility process specially regarding studies efficiency and consequently enabling a greater regional integration

Para que a interação criança/roupa ocorra, esse vestuário deve se apropriar dos conhecimentos do design, que auxiliam na sua construção. Desta forma, esse estudo busca investigar os princípios do design que podem ser adotados para a produção de roupas que podem auxiliar no desenvolvimento das crianças, mostrando como noções de educação podem ser incorporadas ao trajes, estudando as relações e interações entre o design, moda e a educação. O estudo aborda este vestuário sob a perspectiva do design, para assim levantar informações que possam contribuir com a criação das peças. Para tanto, foi elaborado um referencial teórico que procurou mostrar o universo infantil, a comunicação, vestuáriom e design. De acordo com os procedimentos metodológicos adotados para o trabalho, realizou-se um estudo de caso de dez escolas particulares da cidade de Bauru-sp, a fim de obter dados referentes a vivencia com crianças, sobre as preferências, atitudes e formas de raciocínio do mundo infantil. / Among the current trends for children1s clothing that may contribute to the development and children's learning through interaction with their clothes. For child interaction/clothes from occurring, this dress is appropriate the knowledge of design, which assist in its construction. Thus, this study seeks to investigate design principles that can be adopted for production of clothing thatcan assist in the develpment of children, showing how notions of education can be incoporated into costumes, studying the relationships and interactions between design, fashion and education. The study addresses this garment from the perspective of design, so as to provide insights that could contribute to the creation of the pieces. To that end, we developed a theoretical framework that sought to show the infant universe, communication, clothing and design. According to the methodological procedures for the work, there was a case study in ten private schools in Bauru-sp in order to obtain data on experiences with children about their preferences, attitudes and ways of reasoning child's world.

Para fundamentar a análise, foi desenvolvida uma pesquisa bibliográfica que analisou as contribuições das vanguardas modernistas para o design moderno e o papel da escola alemã, Bauhaus, no campo de design; e apresentou o conceito de linguagem híbrida, a mestiçagem no design brasileiro, as relações entre a arte e design e o Prêmio Museu da Casa Brasileira (MCB). Com base neste levantamento teórico, foram apresentados os designers Luciana Martins e Gerson de Oliveira, da empresa ,OVO, e os objetos selecionos por este estudo, que são os dois produtos premiados pelo MCB, que possuem características artísticas e são comercializados e reconhecidos como objetos do design brasileiro contemporâneo. Esses produtos foram analisados e foram levantadas as características híbridas dos mesmos / Abstract: This study, which is characterized as qualitative researchers, aims at analyzing the convergece between the fields of visual arts and design. To support our analysis, we developed a literature that examined the contributions of the avant-garde modernists to the modern design and the role of the German school, Bauhaus, in the design field, and presented the concept of hybrid language, mixing in the Brazilian design, relationships between art and design and the Brazilian House Prize (MCB). Based on this theoretical approach, the designers were presented Luciana Martins and Gerson de Oliveira, the company, EGG, and the selected for this study, the two products that are rewarded by the MCD, which possess artistic features and are marketed and recognized as objects contemporary Brazilian design.
