The conceptual bases are of the epidemiology and of the pediatric nursing. It is a study of the observational and descriptive type, of traverse cut, with analysis the light of the descriptive statistics methods, which guide the description and the presentation in tables. The place of the research was the João de Barros Barreto Academical Hospital. In the study they were researched 97 handbooks of children interned in writing by consent of your responsible. The obtained data were tabulated through the program Microsoft Excel and the whole statistical processing took place under the support computational of the software Epi-info, being the results presented in tables and critical analysis of the results. The results: the companion's responsible and/or sex that prevailed was the feminine with 89,69% (87), and 87,6% (85) they were the mothers. With relationship to the patients' sex that you/they interned, 53,6% (52) of the internments they were children of the masculine sex; the age group between an and five years with 38,10% (37). With relationship to the pathologies found in AIHs, the prevalence of the visceral leishmania was observed, with 16,49% (16) followed by the pneumonia with 15,46% (15) and the bacterial meningitis with 11,34% (11) cases. In relation to the time of internment, it was verified that 39,77% of the children stayed interned by a period understood among seven to fourteen days. The investigation demonstrates the all it is important the knowledge of the data of the child's clinical and epidemic profile for the nursing and for the hospital administration, because to leave of those results the male nurse he/she can plan an appropriate care for child, as well as the accompaniment in the clinic, since 60,4% (58) of the children they received high for us to give continuity to the ambulatory treatment. / Este estudo teve por objetivo descrever o perfil clínico e epidemiológico da clientela da clínica pediátrica do Hospital Universitário João de Barros Barreto no período de agosto a novembro de 2012. As bases conceituais são da epidemiologia e da enfermagem pediátrica. Trata-se de um estudo do tipo observacional, descritivo, de corte transversal, com análise a luz dos métodos da estatística descritiva, os quais orientam a descrição e a apresentação em tabelas. O local da pesquisa foi o Hospital Universitário João de Barros Barreto. No estudo foram pesquisados 97 prontuários de crianças internadas mediante consentimento por escrito de seu responsável. Os dados obtidos foram tabulados através do programa Microsoft Excel e todo o processamento estatístico se realizou sob o suporte computacional do software Epi-info, sendo os resultados apresentados em tabelas e análise crítica dos resultados. Os resultados: o sexo do acompanhante e/ou responsável que predominou foi o feminino com 89,69% (87), sendo que 87,6% (85) eram as mães. Quanto ao sexo dos pacientes que internaram, 53,6% (52) das internações eram crianças do sexo masculino; a faixa etária entre um e cinco anos com 38,10% (37). Quanto às patologias encontradas nas AIHs, observou-se o predomínio da leishmaniose visceral, com 16,49% (16) seguida da pneumonia com 15,46% (15) e a meningite bacteriana com 11,34% (11) casos. Em relação ao tempo de internação, verificou-se que 39,77% das crianças permaneceram internadas por um período compreendido entre sete a quatorze dias. A investigação demonstra o quanto é relevante o conhecimento dos dados do perfil clínico e epidemiológico da criança para a enfermagem e para a gestão hospitalar, pois a partir desses resultados o enfermeiro poderá planejar um cuidado apropriado para criança, assim como o acompanhamento no ambulatório, já que 60,4% (58) das crianças receberam alta para darem continuidade ao tratamento ambulatorial.
