Temperaturlogger

Pettersson, Sebastian January 2022 (has links)
Temperature has been and still is an important quantity that needs to be measured and logged for different applications from industries to our daily life.  This bachelor thesis aims to design a prototype for a temperature logger that can log temperature from four external thermocouples over the temperature range between -20 and +85 degrees during the time of four months with a set update frequency every 15 minutes. The prototype should programmable and be able to communicate with a PC and transfer measurement data to an SD card for storage. The V-model (a development process model) is used to create documents and confirm them in the later stages of the product development process. In the beginning of the project there was a general search for information about similar products and then a decision making on how the project was going to be conducted.  Following the “V-model” the project several surveys have been done regarding the functionality of different components. From there, decisions have been made from the results of what component is the best for this specific project. The components have then been used to design a full electric system with all the components connected, generating an overview of the whole system. After the system design, a printed board circuit (PCB) was designed using Altium Designer, for which all the previous information gathered in the documents was used, including the components chosen earlier and all the small components decided later based on the component’s datasheets. Due to the limited time of ten weeks for the project as well as the lack of experience in scheduling each step in the product development process, this degree project ended up only with finishing the design of the PCB but not the physical prototype. For the future work, it is suggested to add more external thermocouples in the temperature logger since the more thermocouples the logger has, the more analysis it can make at the same time and thus the more efficient the product can become. Besides, the algorithm for temperature logging can be made adaptive according to how fast the temperature changes. For instance, the logger is less frequently activated for lower temperature change. This can significantly reduce unnecessary workload and data storage to save energy and storage resource.

Utveckling av en trefaslogger : En kostnadseffektiv trefaslogger med transientdetektering / Developing a three-phase logger : A cost efficient three-phase logger with transient detection

Krumlinde Lundvall, Daniel, Odenbrand Linder, Jacob January 2019 (has links)
Arbetet innebar i huvudsak elektronikutveckling. / Tools that can analyse and detect problems on a three-phase grid can save time and decrease energy consumption in the industry. The range of products available on today’s market either comes with a steep price, or limited functionality. This thesis examined the possibility of developing and producing a three-phase logger with transient detection, that could be sold for less than 4000 SEK including sales margin. The work mainly consisted of hardware development. The choice of hardware emanated from function analyses, whereupon a complete schematic and PCB-design was developed. The result showed that a three-phase logger with transient detection could be produced and sold for approximately 3300 SEK, including a 25 % sales margin. The thesis was done at Motion Control in Västerås at the request of ABB Robotics.

: Development of a CAN-adapter in a sensor system for tire pressure monitoring. / Development of a CAN-adapter in a sensor system for tire pressure monitoring.

Ernmark, Niklas January 2017 (has links)
This report describes a degree project at the Royal Institute of Technology. The purpose was to create a unique system solution in which a CAN adapter card (Controller Area Network) was to be integrated with an air pressure monitoring system for heavy duty vehicles. The goal was to present measurement values from valve sensors on a personal computer. The air pressure monitoring system is called J1939 - TPMS and is a finished product. J1939 - TPMS sends CAN-frames to a CAN-bus in J1939 format. These frames are to be read by the adapter card and presented on a terminal program on a personal computer. The job has been to investigate how the J1939 - TPMS system works in detail. The role of the J1939 protocol and its relationship with CAN has been clarified. Also, a detailed description of how J1939 frames are interpreted and how the measuring data TPMS is decoded is done. Principles for how a CAN node works has been clarified. Based on this, a CAN adapter card has been designed. The design has included component selection, design of electronics schema, design of computer cards and development of embedded software. The result was a ready-to-use CAN adapter card tested with J1939-TPMS. Requirements for the project were met. However, more work with the card will be needed to make it a finished product. The work was carried out at Motion Control in Västerås AB in cooperation with Transeco Däckservice (Transeco Tire Service).
