Examine .NET Core as a development platform for Monitor ERP System AB

Rosvall, Viktor January 2020 (has links)
The objective of this study has been to examine the portability of Moni- tor ERP System AB’s existing .NET Framework codebase to .NET Core. The study has been conducted by examining the portability of Monitor’s projects by using Microsoft’s .NET Portability Analyzer and visualizing the dependencies of projects by using AsmSpy to gain an understanding of what order projects need to be ported. An examination of used third-party libraries has also been conducted to see which libraries are not compatible with .NET Core. And an attempt to port Monitor’s root solution has been made as a proof-of-concept and to make test and build duration compar- isons between the ported solution and the old solution. The .NET Porta- bility Analyzer reported that 19 projects aren’t 100% compatible with .NET Core (+ Windows Compatibility Pack) where some projects have one miss- ing API call while others have many more. The third-party library examina- tion showed that two libraries are not compatible with .NET Core, the first is Dynamsoft Dynamic .NET TWAIN SDK which can probably be replaced with VintaSoft Twain .NET SDK, and SAP SQL Anywhere which doesn’t have a direct replacement. The results of the comparison show that test duration speeds improved on average by 22.5% with a peak of 67.6%, and build duration differences were negligible. Porting to .NET Core will not be easy, but if fixes for the 19 incompatible Monitor projects are completed and a replacement for SQL Anywhere can be found, then Monitor ERP System AB can make a successful port to .NET Core.

Omstrukturering av centralt reservdelslager

Lindberg, Filip, Andersson, Daniel January 2022 (has links)

Larsson, Lisa, Rietz, Amanda January 2018 (has links)
The digitalization will most likely require other demands on today's organisations. Cloudbased ERP-systems more and more becomes a fact in organizations, and this will mean that organizations have to adapt their activities accordingly. This study examines how eight konsultants work with organizations to take them from on-premise ERP-systems to cloudbased ERP-systems. The eight respondents, who provided empirical information represent different companies. The study finds support for parts of the theoretical background, and other parts of the study does not support earlier research in within the field. There is empirical support for institutionalization theory and for strategy needs to achieve competitive advantages. The study presents different challenges within the contingency variables: organizational structure, organizational systems and strategy. The result from the study is that in order to successfully transcend to the cloud organizations need to be flexible, which the organic organizational structure is. The result also shows that there are challenges within the normative isomorphism, which includes resistance from the organization's IT-department, which has a high probability to occur. The main contribution of this study is that konsultants who work with organizations that is implementing a cloudbased ERP-system needs to consider contingency variables in order to gain an understanding of what organizational mekanisms will affect the journey to the cloud.

Integration of an ERP System: : a case study onintegration challenges with Microsoft Dynamics AX

Xu, Annie January 2017 (has links)
Historically, system integration of ERP system and other existing IT systems within anorganization has always been a complex challenge, both technically and organizationally. Inmany cases, the budget for system integration corresponds 30-40% of the whole IT budget.Since system integration accounts for a large part of the cost during acquisitions andimplementation of an ERP system, companies are interested in the challenges that exist duringsystem integration, to simplify the integration process and hence reduce the costs. Tounderstand the challenges, a case study at Company X has been performed. The ERP systeminvestigated in the case study is Microsoft Dynamics AX.The purpose with this study is to investigate challenges that exist in large organizations duringsystem integration of ERP system and other IT systems that exist in the organization andthereby understand how integration can be developed in a more efficient way.The study entails an extensive literature study and two rounds of data collection throughqualitative interviews. The results showed that the challenges that exist at Company X are mainly organizational.Technical challenges coexist but they have a much less significant impact than theorganizational challenges. This can be explained by that there has been a heavier focus onsolving the technical related problems and maybe to some extent neglected the impactorganizational problems can have on system integration. Possible actions includes centralstrategy concerning how to work with Dynamics AX, it’s growth and future initiatives, policies and framework regarding working methods, increased authority and decision rights tothe group working with AX as well as minimize customizations and own development.

Integrating Conventional ERP System with Cloud Services : From the Perspective of Cloud Service Type

Shi, Jia January 2012 (has links)
It is proved that cloud computing has many benefits, and cloud services with flexible licensing model and cost saving features bring opportunities to enterprise's IT operations. Conventional ERP system, an important component of enterprises, is impacted by on-demand cloud services also. Integrating conventional ERP system with cloud services becomes a trend because it brings new processing capabilities without introducing significant changes to existing system. But previous studies about integrating ERP and cloud usually focused on SaaS (Software as a Service). PaaS (Platform as a Service) and IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) are not discussed much. People sometimes even confuse cloud service with SaaS. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to present a framework that can describe respective implications of integrating ERP with three types of cloud services: SaaS, PaaS and IaaS. Qualitative methods such as systematic literature review and interviews are adopted to execute the research, so data collected through different sources can complement each other in order to support presenting the framework of integrating conventional ERP system and cloud services. The integration at SaaS level is for achieving immediate business value and productivity enhancement. At PaaS level the objective of integration is to enhance software development life cycle management. And the main integrating intent at IaaS level is to enable scalability and reliability of hardware resources without changing existing IT infrastructure. Furthermore, challenges and opportunities for integrating ERP with different cloud services are studied and motivation is derived from analyzing. Finally the key points are arranged in the presented framework of integration between conventional ERP systems and cloud services.
