Hur påverkar fysisk aktivitet bröstcancerpatienter under cytostatikabehandling? : En litteraturstudie

Berglund, Karin, Widlund, Camilla January 2019 (has links)
I Sverige insjuknar ungefär 20 kvinnor dagligen. / ABSTRACT Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosis in women around the world. In Sweden, about 20 women are diagnosed daily. Chemotherapy is given as part of the treatment, which causes many side effects to the affected patients. Aim: The purpose of this literature study was to investigate how physical activity affects breast cancer patients during chemotherapy treatment. Method: Descriptive design with literature study was chosen as a method. The study was based on quantitative articles to answer the purpose of the study. Results: Most of the included articles showed that physical activity has a positive effect on breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. The positive impact consisted of improved physical strength and fitness, body composition, mental health, quality of life and reduced fatigue. No adverse effect was found, however, lack of effect of intervention. The physical activity was of a different nature, the length of the training time also varied as the follow-up time that the participants participated in the study. Conclusion: The result shows that physical activity has a positive effect on breast cancer patients who undergo chemotherapy. Through information and guidance on physical activity in different forms, patients well-being could increase. The study's results emphasize the value of physical activity as part of breast cancer patients treatment. Physical activity is cost-effective and should be applied as self-care in part of the standard treatment.
