Impact of Text in News Videos for the Viewing Experience on Smartphones / Text i nyhetsklipp och dess inverkan på tittarupplevelsen i en smartphone

The viewing experience of news videos differ depending on if the device used is a smartphone or a traditional TV, e.g. because some social situations for smartphones not allow audio to be used while watching. Can the adding of subtitles keep the perceived quality at the same level even in these situations? This study investigates the research question how the viewing experience of news videos on smartphones is affected by subtitles and text for young adults. The results are relevant for anyone aiming to improve the viewing experience of videos on smartphones. The study is based on the theory about the concept Quality of Experience, QoE. The method has an experimental approach: 64 participants watched three news videos and after subjective and objective QoE was measured. The conclusion is that subtitles increased every aspect of subjective and objective QoE in a public context when the videos were watched without audio, while they in a home context where audio was present, did not affect any aspect of QoE, except for a decreased willingness to continue watching. / En tittarupplevelse varierar beroende på om tittandet görs på en smartphone eller på en traditionell TV, bland annat eftersom några tittarsituationer på smartphones socialt sett inte tillåter användning av ljud under tittandet. Kan undertexter göra att den upplevda kvalitén behålls på motsvarande nivå även i dessa situationer? Denna studie undersöker frågeställningen hur tittarupplevelsen av nyhetsklipp på smartphones påverkas av undertexter och texter för unga vuxna. Dess resultat är relevanta för alla som ämnar förbättra tittarupplevelsen på smartphones. Studien är baserad på teori om begreppet ”Quality of Experience”, QoE. Metoden har en experimentell ansats: 64 deltagare tittade på tre nyhetsklipp och därefter mättes den subjektiva och objektiva kvalitén på upplevelsen. Slutsatsen är att undertexter ökade varje aspekt av subjektiv och objektiv upplevd kvalité i en offentlig miljö där klippen sågs utan ljud, medan i en hemmiljö – där klippen sågs med ljud, påverkade inte undertexterna någon aspekt av kvalitén, förutom att viljan att titta klart minskade.

Experiences in E-servicescapes : A multiple case study on brand experiences in online environments and its relation to brand equity

With a fast-evolving digital society that offers individuals the option to shop from anywhere in the world, in a matter of seconds, competition amongst brands has never been tougher. It is therefore of greater importance for brands to distinguish themselves from competitors. Providing an extraordinary experience can be the distinguisher that sets a brand apart from competitors. The purpose of this thesis is to find out how brands build brand experience in e-servicescapes and to explore the relationship between brand experience and brand equity.    The empirical findings were gathered using a qualitative multiple case study. With a purposive sampling method three companies were selected. With the strategy of semi-structured interviews, information was gathered and later analyzed, discussed and compared with the previous literature findings, with the help of a thematic analysis method.     The conclusion shows that the selected cases for this thesis do in fact put a lot of emphasis on brand experience. A commonly found theme is that the selected cases all implied the direct relation between brand experience and brand equity, according to the empirical data they were highly interlinked. This thesis provides useful insights on how to build a strong general brand experience in e-servicescapes, whilst also giving the reader useful tools on how to build brand experience.

Sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda patienter med ett självskadebeteende : En deskriptiv litteraturstudie

Background: About 50 years ago, self-injurious behavior was considered rare, a symptom associated with psychosis or suicidal thoughts. In today's society, self-injurious behavior is a widespread phenomenon, especially among adolescents and adults dealing with mental illness in different ages.  Aim: The aim of this literature study was to describe and compile nurses' experiences of caring for patients with self-injurious behavior.  Method: A descriptive literature study made up of ten scientific articles. Main results: Nurses in the care of patients with self-injurious behavior described experiences of relationship-building care, the importance of specific knowledge, empathy and professional distance, and the support from colleagues.  Conclusion: The results of the literature study showed that several different components were important, these were; relationship-building care, lack of time and staff, the support of colleagues, the importance of specific knowledge as well as empathy and professional distance. These components form the basis for the nurse, to the best of her ability, to care for patients with self-injurious behavior in an adequate way of working. / Bakgrund: För ca 50 år sedan ansågs självskadebeteende vara sällsynt, ett symtom i samband med psykossjukdomar eller suicidbenägenhet. I dagens samhälle är självskadebeteende ett brett fenomen, särskilt hos ungdomar och vuxna som lider av psykisk ohälsa i olika åldrar. Syfte: Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att beskriva och sammanställa sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda patienter med ett självskadebeteende. Metod: En deskriptiv litteraturstudie uppbyggd av tio vetenskapliga artiklar. Huvudresultat: Sjuksköterskor i vårdandet av patienter med ett självskadebeteende beskrev erfarenheter av relationsskapande vård, vikten av specifik kunskap, empati och professionell distans samt kollegialt stöd.  Slutsats: I litteraturstudiens resultat framgick det att flera olika komponenter var av betydelse, dessa var; relationsskapande vård, tidsbrist, kollegialt stöd, vikten av specifik kunskap samt empati och professionell distans. Dessa komponenter ligger till grund för att sjuksköterskan enligt sin bästa förmåga ska vårda patienter med ett självskadebeteende på ett adekvat arbetssätt.

Purchasing one's wardrobe has become more affordable. This has allowed people to focus on purchasing more fashionable clothes. Garment shopping has even become a type of social and leisure activity. With the development of internet technology, shopping methods have changed dramatically. However, these seemingly convenient shopping methods also bring unavoidable problems, such as an inability to understand apparel companies' different size standards and the challenge of seeing the details of materials. On the other side, while overemphasizing the convenience of the shopping process, online companies have ignored people's clothes-wearing experience that is the most enjoyable and valuable for customers. This paper introduces an IoT (Internet of Things) design: "Closet Go" including a mobile application and a clip-able camera. "Closet Go" aims to improve customers' daily outfit selection experience by digitalizing their closets and conducting data analysis of customized dressing habits. In this thesis, I present the entire design process: user research, Ideation, UI/UX design, product development, and evaluation. In the research section, potential users were recruited for interviews to discover the current problems in acquiring, selecting, and matching outfits in daily life. The design process section introduces the design development progress and results via user flow, experience map, prototype, and user interface. This thesis explores the attitudes of women with borderline personality disorder towards otherness. The aim of the thesis was to explore the relationship between different personality characteristics of five women diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and their attitudes towards themselves and representatives of otherness. For these purposes, the Semi- Structured Interview for Personality Functioning (STiP-5.1) assessing personal functioning in the personal and interpersonal domains and the experience sampling method (ESM) were used, through which the respondents recorded the intensity of emotions felt towards themselves and various representatives of otherness for 30 days. The data were processed qualitatively into five case studies. The results indicated significant intraindividual variability in emotions toward self and representatives of otherness. The methods could find application in the treatment process and therapy, whereby assessment of personality functioning could contribute to the overall current picture of the patient and the variability of their psychological attitudes in response to certain life events could be monitored using ESM. Keeping the User and User Data in Mind : A Study on Empathy and Personas

One method to create and work with personas is to abstract the user data into a character with a background story and a set of goals. This method has been argued against as the method is argued to lead to, for example, stereotyping users and for not exposing User Experience (UX) designers to user data. User data has been argued to be used by UX designers to make design decision. This study examines the possibility for UX designers to empathize with a persona that have additional accessible representations of user data. The results from this study imply that it is possible for UX designers to empathize with a persona while having access to representations of user data. Additionally, the results indicate that the persona design methods used in this study need further development. / En metod för att skapa och jobba med personas är att abstrahera användardatan till en karaktär med en bakgrundshistoria och ett antal mål. Denna metod har argumenterats mot bland annat för att metoden leder till att man skapar stereotypa användare och för att inte exponera User Experience (UX) designers till användardatan. Användardata har argumenterats användas av UX-designers för att göra designrelaterade beslut. Denna studie undersöker möjligheten att empatisera med en persona som har ytterligare representationer av användardata tillgängliga. Resultatet av denna studie indikerar att det är möjligt för UX designers att empatisera med en persona medan representationer av användardata finns att tillgå. Ytterligare indikerar resultaten att designmetoderna för den persona som användes i denna studie är i behov av ytterligare utveckling.
