Previous issue date: 2015-08-12 / O estudo de bacias sedimentares envolve uma integra??o de informa??es adquiridas a partir da aplica??o de diversas metodologias. Os m?todos potenciais, gravim?trico e magn?tico, representam uma metodologia eficaz no estudo do arcabou?o tect?nico de bacias sedimentares a um custo relativamente barato, se comparado ?s demais t?cnicas. O presente trabalho apresenta a integra??o de diferentes t?cnicas avan?adas de processamento geof?sico em dados potenciais (Redu??o ao Polo, Matched Filter, Gradiente Horizontal e Inclina??o do Sinal Anal?tico), que auxiliaram grandemente na particulariza??o da express?o geof?sica das principais componentes estruturais do Rifte Potiguar e seu embasamento cristalino. Os resultados permitiram identificar claramente as bordas falhadas do Rifte Potiguar (Carnaubais, Apodi e Mulungu), assim como seus componentes internos, horsts Macau e Quixaba, e os grabens Apodi, Umbuzeiro e Boa Vista. As expressivas zonas de cisalhamentos do seu embasamento (Senador Pompeu, Jaguaribe, Portalegre, A?u, Flor?nia-?ngicos e Picu? Jo?o-C?mara) tamb?m foram evidenciadas pelo mapeamento geof?sico como extensos alinhamentos sigmoidais de dire??o NE-SW. A integra??o dos dados geof?sicos com dados geol?gicos permitiu a identifica??o de oito dom?nios tect?no-geof?sicos com o objetivo de se estabelecer o comportamento dos principais blocos crustais da Prov?ncia Borborema abaixo do pacote sedimentar. As respostas fornecidas pelas t?cnicas permitiram ainda a associa??o das estruturas acima citadas com as principais etapas de rifteamento pelos quais passou a bacia durante a sua complexa evolu??o. O trend NE-SW, que ocorre como o principal padr?o direcional nas regi?es adjacentes ao Rifte Potiguar e tamb?m em seu interior, evidencia uma forte influ?ncia de estruturas pr?-cambrianas na forma??o da bacia, assim como a deforma??o NW-SE nos diques Rio Cear?-Mirim, o truncamento de estruturas NE com a Falha de Apodi, e tamb?m o afastamento entre a Zona de Cisalhamento Portalegre e o Sistema de Falhas de Carnaubais, contribuem para hip?tese de propaga??o dos esfor?os da Margem Equatorial para o interior do continente. / The study of sedimentary basins involves an integration of information acquired from the application of different methodologies. The Potential Methods, gravity and magnetic represent an effective methodology to study the tectonic framework of sedimentary basins, at a relatively cheap cost than another techniques. The present work presents the integration of different advanced techniques of geophysical processing in potential data (Reducing to Pole, Matched Filter, Horizontal Gradient and Tilt Derivative) which greatly assisted in characterization of geophysical expression of the main structural components of Potiguar Rift and it tectonic framework. The results allowed clearly identify the failed edges of the Potiguar Rift (Carnaubais, Apodi e Mulungu faults), as well as its internal components, Macau and Quixaba horsts, and the Apodi, Umbuzeiro and Boa Vista grabens. The expressive shear zones of it basement (Senador Pompeu, Jaguaribe, Portalegre, A?u, Flor?nia-?ngicos e Picu? Jo?o-C?mara) they also were evidenced by geophysical mapping as extensive sigmoidal alignments of NE-SW direction. The integration of geophysical data with geological data allowed the identification of eight tectonic geophysicist domains, with purpose of establishing the behavior of main crustal blocks of the Borborema Province bellow of the sedimentary package. The results provided by techniques also allowed the association of the above mentioned structures with the main stages of rifting by which passed the basin during its complex evolution. The trend NE-SW, that occurs as the main directional pattern in the adjacent regions to the Potiguar Rift, and also inside evidence a strong control of precambrian structures in basin formation, as well as the NW-SE deformation in the Rio Cear?-Mirim dykes swarms, the truncation of NE structures with Apodi Fault, and also the separation between Portalegre Shear Zone and the Carnaubais System Faults, contribute to the hypothesis of propagation of the Equatorial Margin efforts into the continent.

L’objectif du projet, dont le travail présenté dans cette thèse est une partie, était de développer une caméra à rayons X ultra-rapide utilisant des pixels hybrides pour l’imagerie biomédicale et la science des matériaux. La technologie à pixels hybrides permet de répondre aux besoins des ces deux champs de recherche, en particulier en apportant la possibilité de sélectionner l’énergie des rayons X détectés et de les imager à faible dose. Dans cette thèse, nous présentons une caméra ultra-rapide basée sur l’utilisation de circuits intégrés XPAD3-S développés pour le comptage de rayons X. En collaboration avec l’ESRF et SOLEIL, le CPPM a construit trois caméras XPAD3. Deux d’entre elles sont utilisée sur les lignes de faisceau des synchrotrons SOLEIL et ESRF, et le troisième est installé dans le dispositif d’irradiation PIXSCAN II du CPPM. La caméra XPAD3 est un détecteur de rayons X de grande surface composé de huit modules de détection comprenant chacun sept circuits XPAD3-S équipés d’un système d’acquisition de données ultra-rapide. Le système de lecture de la caméra est basé sur l’interface PCI Express et sur l’utilisation de circuits programmables FPGA. La caméra permet d’obtenir jusqu’à 240 images/s, le nombre maximum d’images étant limité par la taille de la mémoire RAM du PC d’acquisition. Les performances de ce dispositif ont été caractérisées grâce à plusieurs expériences à haut débit de lecture réalisées dans le système d’irradiation PIXSCAN II. Celles-ci sont décrites dans le dernier chapitre de cette thèse. / The aim of the project, of which the work described in this thesis is part, was to design a high-speed X-ray camera using hybrid pixels applied to biomedical imaging and for material science. As a matter of fact the hybrid pixel technology meets the requirements of these two research fields, particularly by providing energy selection and low dose imaging capabilities. In this thesis, high frame rate X-ray imaging based on the XPAD3-S photons counting chip is presented. Within a collaboration between CPPM, ESRF and SOLEIL, three XPAD3 cameras were built. Two of them are being operated at the beamline of the ESRF and SOLEIL synchrotron facilities and the third one is embedded in the PIXSCAN II irradiation setup of CPPM. The XPAD3 camera is a large surface X-ray detector composed of eight detection modules of seven XPAD3-S chips each with a high-speed data acquisition system. The readout architecture of the camera is based on the PCI Express interface and on programmable FPGA chips. The camera achieves a readout speed of 240 images/s, with maximum number of images limited by the RAM memory of the acquisition PC. The performance of the device was characterize by carrying out several high speed imaging experiments using the PIXSCAN II irradiation setup described in the last chapter of this thesis.

The world of computer networks is constantly evolving towards more efficient algorithms and more effective ways of using hardware resources. One of these evolutions is the eXpress Data Path (XDP). XDP is an interrupt based data path in the Linux kernel. XDP uses JIT-compiled programs in a virtual machine in a device driver context. Through XDP, fast packet processing is possible while still keeping the functionality of the Linux kernel intact. Therefore, this thesis aims to illuminate possible use cases for XDP in 5G simulators, as this real-world application of XDP is of interest. Specifically, use-cases where there is a need for fast packet processing. This thesis evaluates the use-cases using a performance evaluation of XDP and a literary review of 5G simulators, XDP, and technologies relating to XDP. This evaluation indicates that XDP is a candidate for packet processing in 5G simulators, specifically when compared to what performance is possible currently. This thesis argues from the performance evaluation and the literary review that XDP can be used for small programs, preferably data ingestion, in 5G simulators.

Calculations have been a core part of business processes in several industries throughout the years. To streamline the process of calculations, companies seek to digitize their calculation tools to web-based calculation tools. There is currently a lack of studies regarding the performance of web-based calculation tools, and since technology changes occur rapidly, which leads to comparative studies becoming outdated, the availability of actual and relevant research regarding performance comparisons between web-development frameworks becomes imperative. The purpose of this study was to compare ASP.NET with Node.js Express performance-wise, while implemented as web-based calculation tools. The calculations implemented were placed in both the backend and frontend of ASP.NET and Node.js Express. This study consists of experimentation, presenting the experiment results, and analyzing the results to conclude the research questions of this study. The results showed that Node.js Express was the better framework performance-wise and the analysis explains why. This study also concluded that the backend was better performing than the frontend for calculations in ASP.NET, and that the frontend was better performing than the backend for calculations in Node.js Express.

Data recorder designs today make use of data buses, storage types and graphical user interfaces that are constantly evolving based on the advances of personal computer and consumer electronics technologies. Many of these recorders use embedded designs that integrate disruptive technologies such as PCI Express for realtime data and signal processing, SATA interfaces for data storage and touchscreen technologies to provide an intuitive operator interface. Solid state drives also play a larger role in the latest recorder designs. This paper will explore the effects of these technologies on the latest telemetry recorders in terms of the benefits to the users, cost of implementation, obsolescence management, and integration considerations. The implications of early adoption of disruptive technologies will also be reviewed.

The potential of express bus to serve peak travel demand to outlying employment centers: A case study of the Atlanta regionUltee, Jeffrey Dedert 27 May 2016 (has links)
This thesis investigates the potential of express bus to serve travel demand in a polycentric region, using the Atlanta metropolitan area as a case study. Express bus, which serves as the primary mode of line-haul transit commuting for most suburbs in the Atlanta region, is primarily focused on serving traditional suburb-to-city commutes. However, more than half of the commutes in the Atlanta metro are to suburban locations. This thesis investigates the potential of an author-devised plan to enhance the transit commute to suburban employment centers, using express bus as the primary technology. Working mostly with existing routes, the plan incorporates ideas found in the literature, such as intermediate stops, transfer hubs, and local bus serving first and last mile connections. The thesis also tested existing plans, off of which the author's plan was devised. Tests were performed using the trip-based model of the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC). Dramatic gains were seen as a result of the author-devised plan, such that 8,000 daily transit trips are added, and express bus ridership increases by 50%. Performance improved especially for routes in which intermediate stops were added. The results have implications for how transit can better serve travel demand in a polycentric region.

[Parte II] / El presente modelo de negocio está orientado a ofrecer una experiencia distinta en el autoservicio de lavado de vehículos, específicamente focalizado en el sector norte de la ciudad de Antofagasta, lugar en el cual se tiene proyectado construir 15.000 viviendas (casas y departamentos) hacia el año 2030 apuntando al sector socioeconómico C2 y C3, teniendo como antecedente que Antofagasta es la ciudad fuera de la Región Metropolitana que tiene el mayor registro de vehículos en el país. El servicio que se ofrecerá al cliente será la experiencia que disfrutaran durante el proceso de lavado exterior de su vehículo realizado por el mismo dueño o conductor, a través de máquinas de hidrolavados de última generación, factor diferencial inexistente a su totalidad en el sector. Como plus y para ser más grata la presencia del cliente, se contará con productos para el cuidado del vehículo que también incluirá en otra vía, ventas de bebidas, cafés y comestibles (Minimarket). Con esto se captará la atención de potenciales clientes de querer disfrutar un momento grato desde la llegada hasta la salida del local y con tiempos óptimos acorde a conformidad del usuario (15 minutos de espera). Con todo lo mencionado se quiere lograr que Full-Wash, se centre en la prestación de servicios de una manera eficiente, rápida, sencilla y de calidad, con tecnología avanzada y auto atención, a través de su slogan “Lavado Express” llame la atención y atraiga a los clientes que no lavan su vehículo a través de este método y así aumentar los ingresos por autoservicio.
Respecto de la evaluación financiera del proyecto, consideramos que ha arrojado cifras atractivas, especialmente las asociadas a los indicadores claves para la toma de decisión:
