Národy bez státu jsou celosvětovou mezinárodní problematikou, jejichž úsilí může budoucnosti signifikantně pozměnit politickou mapu světa. Ačkoliv evropské hranice, a především ty západoevropské zůstávají v posledních letech neměnné, tak i v unie můžeme nalézt mnoho případů takzvaných národů bez státu. Procesy utváření národní identity jednotlivých zkoumaných národů, jejich společná historie, geografické a socioekonomické aspekty či institucionální a stranické systémy, to vše je zahrnuto této diplomové práci zkoumám konkrétní případy za pomoci teoretických konceptů širokého spektra odborníků. V první řadě bylo nezbytné definovat pojem národ spojené termíny, jako například nacionalismus. Mezi další studované koncepty patří stát, právo na sebeurčení, regionalismus a secesionismus. Jednotlivé teoretické bloky jsou poté využity v případových studiích, které se zabývají výše zmíněnými příp Konkrétní případové studie jednotlivých národů spadajících do států v druhé části práce. Každý národ je zkoumán samostatně a obsahuje vlastní závěry. Hlavním úkolem je nalézt secesionistický potenciál jednotlivých národů a vytvořit určitou predikci možného dělení evropských států. V závěrečné části práce proběhne komparace podobností a odlišností jednotlivých případů, načež je zakončena již zmíněnou

The impact of computer simulations on the teaching and learning of electromagnetism in grade 11 : a case study of a school in the Mpumalanga Province

The study investigated the impact of computer simulations on the teaching and learning of electromagnetism in grade 11. Electromagnetism is a section of the Physical Science curriculum. Two grade 11 classes in the Mgwenya circuit in Mpumalanga province of South Africa were used as a case study. Using a pre-test, post-test non-equivalent control group design, it was found that learners in the experimental group (n = 30) who were taught using the simulations achieved significantly higher scores on the post-test than learners in the control group (n = 35) who were taught using traditional teacher-centred teaching method; (t statistic = 3.582, df = 56, p<0.05). Learners were more active during the lessons, predicting, observing, discussing and explaining concepts. The use of simulations also provided support (scaffolding) that the learners need to enhance learning. The Hake’s normalized gain for the experimental group <g> = 0.32 compared to <g> = 0.18 for the control group confirmed conceptual improvement. Both teachers and learners indicated that they accept the use of computer simulations in teaching and learning of electromagnetism. / Science and Technology Education / M. Sc. Neither Scotland nor England : Middle Britain, c.850-1150

In and around the 870s, Britain was transformed dramatically by the campaigns and settlements of the Great Army and its allies. Some pre-existing political communities suffered less than others, and in hindsight the process helped Scotland and England achieve their later positions. By the twelfth century, the rulers of these countries had partitioned the former kingdom of Northumbria. This thesis is about what happened in the intervening period, the fate of Northumbria's political structures, and how the settlement that defined Britain for the remainder of the Middle Ages came about. Modern reconstructions of the era have tended to be limited in scope and based on unreliable post-1100 sources. The aim is to use contemporary material to overcome such limitations, and reach positive conclusions that will make more sense of the evidence and make the region easier to understand for a wider audience, particularly in regard to its shadowy polities and ecclesiastical structures. After an overview of the most important evidence, two chapters will review Northumbria's alleged dissolution, testing existing historiographic beliefs (based largely on Anglo-Norman-era evidence) about the fate of the monarchy, political community, and episcopate. The impact and nature of ‘Southenglish' hegemony on the region's political communities will be the focus of the fourth chapter, while the fifth will look at evidence for the expansion of Scottish political power. The sixth chapter will try to draw positive conclusions about the episcopate, leaving the final chapter to look in more detail at the institutions that produced the final settlement.
