Análise dinâmica não-linear de pisos mistos (aço-concreto) submetidos a ações humanas rítmicas. / Nonlinear dynamic analysis of mixed floors (steel-concrete) subjected to rhythmic human actions.

Sidclei Gomes Gonçalves 21 December 2011 (has links)
A modelagem do sistema contempla ligações estruturais do tipo rígidas, semirrígidas e flexíveis. / Nowadays, the increasing incidence of composite (steel-concrete) floors vibration problems due to human rhythmic activities led to a specific design criteria to be addressed in structural design. The main objective of this investigation is to evaluate the influence of the structural connections (beam-to-beam connections) on the composite floors nonlinear dynamic response, when submitted to human rhythmic dynamic loads. The dynamic loads were obtained through experimental tests with individuals carrying out rhythmic and non-rhythmic activities. The investigated structural model was based on building composite floors and consisted of a typical office building interior bay with a total are of 1600m2 used for aerobics. The structural system are composed of a composite (steel-concrete) solution made of an I steel profile and a reinforced concrete slab. In this investigation a complete interaction between the concrete slab and steel beams was considered. The proposed analysis methodology adopted the usual mesh refinement techniques present in the finite element method simulations implemented in the ANSYS program. The structural system finite element modelling have considered rigid, semi-rigid and pinned beam-to-beam joints. The peak accelerations were compared with limits proposed by design codes and recommendations, based on human comfort criteria. The results obtained in this investigation indicated that the structural connections (beam-to-beam connections) can have a relevant influence on the composite floor nonlinear dynamic response. On the other hand, the peak accelerations obtained in this investigation, based on a nonlinear dynamic analysis, indicated that the investigated composite floor violated the human comfort criteria, as well as its vibration serviceability limit states.

Effektivisering av badrumsproduktion i en industrialiserad bostadsfabrik : En jämförelse och rekommendation av Lean-effektivisering och inköp av prefabricerade badrumsgolv- och moduler / Streamlining the bathroom production in an industrialized housing factory : A comparison and recommendation of Lean efficiency and purchase of prefabricated bathroom floors- and modules

Kuna, Robert, Bidros, David January 2018 (has links)
Purpose: To measure and map out the production of an industrialized housing factory, in addition to measure the effectiveness of its bathroom production. The gathered information is then used as foundation for the efficiency improvement proposal presented for the board of directors. The efficiency improvement proposals are predefined as “Improvement of existing production using Lean”, “Production with prefabricated bathroom floors” and “Production with prefabricated bathroom modules”. Method: The measurement method used at the factory was a frequency study called Work Sampling Method (WSM), adjusted after the case study’s needs. The measurement technician goes with regular intervals to workstations and notes the activity happening in that same moment. After several thousand recurrences, an average activity image can be derived from the data depicting the bathroom production. Furthermore, the data is processed to obtain visual graphs where problems become more distinguishable. When the problems are identified, solutions and propositions can be developed and presented. Findings: By implementing prefabricated bathroom floors- or modules the factory can reduce its production time and thereby increase the factories production capacity. Furthermore, the propositions and solutions eliminate competence-required operations within the factory. Thereby facilitates the staff replacement.. Implications: The study shows that companies suffering from growing pain have considerable facilities to restructure and relieve its production, in such a way that a higher production capacity is obtained. The production capacity in this case can be expanded by three different methods with various degrees of efficiency. The case study can however not determine the exact degree of efficiency, to obtain these the propositions should be simulated. Further potential research should be done on how the case studies propositions affect the whole of the factory. Limitations: The size and complexity of the observed factory structure limited the case study from analyzing the whole of the factory. Delimitations had to be done at the bathroom production and the production of certain elements involved in the bathroom production had to be neglected.

Evaluation of the Empirical Deck Design for Vehicular Bridges

El-Gharib, Georges 01 January 2014 (has links)
This research evaluated the feasibility of the empirical design method for reinforced concrete bridge decks for the Florida Department of Transportation [FDOT]. There are currently three methods used for deck design: empirical method, traditional method and finite element method. This research investigated and compared the steel reinforcement ratios and the stress developed in the reinforcing steel for the three different methods of deck design. This study included analysis of 15 bridge models that met the FDOT standards. The main beams were designed and load rated using commercial software to obtain live load deflections. The bridges were checked to verify that they met the empirical method conditions based on the FDOT Structures Design Guidelines – January 2009. The reinforced concrete decks were designed using the traditional design method. Then the bridges were analyzed using three-dimensional linear finite element models with moving live loads. The reinforced concrete decks were designed using dead load moment, live load moment, and future wearing surface moment obtained from the finite element models. The required reinforcing steel ratio obtained from the finite element method was compared to the required reinforcing steel ratio obtained from traditional design method and the empirical design method. Based on the type of beams, deck thicknesses, method of analysis, and other assumptions used in this study, in most cases the required reinforcing steel obtained from the finite element design is closer to that obtained from the empirical design method than that obtained from the traditional design method. It is recommended that the reinforcing steel ratio obtained from the empirical design method be used with increased deck thicknesses to control cracking in the bridge decks interior bays.
