Xenophobia among young Christians with special reference to the youth of the Fourways Circuit Methodist Church of South Africa : an empirical exploration

Phiri, Mabvuto 09 1900 (has links)
Xenophobia is a notoriously difficult concept to explore, especially within the complex South African environment. This exploration has two elements: the theoretical and the practical. The theoretical element focuses mainly on the theories of xenophobia in South Africa, as well as the theoretical response of the Church to the problem. The practical element is a qualitative empirical exploration using small scale focus group interviews to gain insight into the relationship between xenophobia and religion, with special reference to young Christians of The Methodist Church of Southern Africa. The findings seem to suggest that “being religious” does not prevent xenophobic attitudes and emotions and that there is potential to have xenophobic reactions in people who “perceive” themselves to be religious living in an environment of economic and social hardships. Religious involvement combined with economic and social factors may promote xenophobic reactions. In an indirect way(s) religion may be one of the “causes” of xenophobia. / Practical Theology / M Th. K prezentaci vybraných gramatických kategorií ve výuce češtiny pro cizince / Demonstration of selected grammatical categories in the Czech language for foreigners tuition

Najbrtová, Barbora January 2013 (has links)
The diploma thesis concerns about the presentation of gramatical verbal categories, mostly verbal aspect, mood and tense. First part follows the verbal aspect. Its presentation in grammar, text and activity books for foreigners is not neither sufficient nor comprehensive or systematic. The second section deals with verbal mood. The way of its explanation in lessons is not sufficient either, for example different explanation of imperative formation, the absence of description of using conditional in communication etc. The third chapter observes verbal tense as well in grammar, text and activity books for foreigners. Its description is also unsatisfactory. The questionnaire is addressed to teachers of Czech as a foreign language with different degree of experience and it conducts a survey of differences, difficulties of explanation, different point of view of educational materials and necessity to complete them. We formulate linguistic-didactic recommendation for explanation of those three grammatical verbal categories on the basis of found difficulties and contradictions. Those recommendations as well as with the questionnaire survey is the target of this thesis. Key words: Czech for foreigners, verbal aspect, verbal mood, verbal tense, grammar books, textbooks, activity books for foreigners,...

Komunitní tlumočení na úřadech práce - případová studie / Community Interpreting at Labour Offices - Case Study

Nenutil, Libor January 2016 (has links)
The present thesis focuses on the use of community interpreting in public services, with particular focus on Labour Offices. It builds upon the project Development of Labour Office counselling for foreigners carried out by the Fund of Further Education between November 2013 and November 2015. Pilot testing of community interpreting at selected branch offices of the Labour Office of the Czech Republic took place in the framework of the project. The theoretical part presents a brief overview of community interpreting and the specifics of its use in communication with public authorities. Then follows a panorama of the situation of community interpreting in selected countries of the European Union. The aim of this panorama is to describe how Labour Offices in these states work with people with limited knowledge of the country's official language. The empirical part analyses outcomes of in-depth interviews with Labour Office employees carried out for the purpose of a project evaluation study. Apart from that, we analyse outcomes of a survey conducted among interpreters who took part in the project. The results of both analyses helped create a comprehensive overview of the project. Finally, based on our findings, we suggested a set of good practice recommendations that could improve efficiency of...

L'enfant ROM / The Roma Child

BIDAUD, Laure-Amélie 16 February 2012 (has links)
What makes the legal analysis of the rights of the Roma Child so unique is that he is at the cross-road of several legal approaches. Indeed, the Roma Child is unique in the sense that he belongs to an ethnic and/or national minority, is less than 18 years old, in most cases is considered as a foreigner where he lives (whether from one of the European Union countries or not), all this to be put in perspective of his legal status of Child. If the integration of the fact that this child belongs to a « minority community » is very challengeable in regard to the National Legal Rights, it is obviously much more meaningful in regard to the international and European rights of the Minorities, both in terms of laws and jurisprudence of the European court of Justice. Furthermore, the legal rights of the Roma child as member of a minority are superseded by the rights of the children under the age of 18. However, the reality is sometimes not aligned with the legal principles when the actual circumstances of the presence of this child on the French territory expose him to treatment which are un-respectful to his status of child, and to the legal principles against discrimination. This is particularly true with respect to the laws regulating the entrance and circulation of foreigners on the French territory, which will collide with his rights to education, health, social benefits and protection against delinquency.

Srovnání české a ruské deklinace podstatných a přídavných jmen se zaměřením na výuku češtiny pro cizince / Comparison of Czech and Russian Declension of Nouns and Adjectives with a Focus on Teaching Czech for Foreigners

Kulich, Karel January 2019 (has links)
Title: Comparison of Czech and Russian Declension of Nouns and Adjectives with a Focus on Teaching Czech for Foreigners Author: Mgr. Karel Kulich Department: Institute of Czech Language and Theory of Communication, Faculty of Arts, Charles University Supervisor: PhDr. Jiří Hasil, Ph.D. Abstract: The submitted thesis deals with Czech language as a foreign language in the field of Czech declension system of nouns and adjectives in comparison with the Russian system, and the issue of acquiring these language structures in the target group of Russian-language foreigners. This group of foreigners is a part of a large number of foreign students studying at Czech universities and other schools, so the topic of the paper is highly up-to-date. According to the findings of the linguists, the similarity of language structures may be the cause of the so-called interference errors. In a more general sense, it is the issue of homonymy, which is described, for example, by V. Skalička in connection with the development and termination of declension. In the linguistic comparison, the role of homonymity of desinential morphemes is related to their unequal functional load. The author claims to provide a thorough knowledge of Czech and Russian declension based on comparative study. The goals of the thesis include description...
