This study is an attempt at consolidating in a single source the inclusive history of the development of Afrikaans since 1652, as well as the various perspectives on the origins of Afrikaans put forward from the eighteenth to the twenty-first century. As a consequence of sociopolitical circumstances in South Africa, the various role-players involved in the origins and development of Afrikaans have not all been adequately taken account of in the description of the history of the Afrikaans language. This has contributed to the prevalence of inaccurate perceptions about the origins of Afrikaans. Amongst others, these misperceptions have let to the teaching of the history of Afrikaanspredominantly focusing on the (white) historical Eastern variety and on standard Afrikaans, minimising the existence of any possible Creole influences on the language. For purposes of this study, the inclusive history of the development of Afrikaans since 1652 was rewritten in order to take account of the influence of all the role players (the Europeans from the West, the indigenous Koina from Africa, and the slaves brought from Asia) on the origins and development of Afrikaans. A further aim of this rewriting was to evaluate and consolidate, chronologically, the approximately 40 perspectives on the origins of Afrikaans against the background of the socio-political milieu within which these perspectives developed. Some aspects of this rewritten history of Afrikaans were taught by means of a series of lessons to learners in regions representative of areas where sub-varieties of the three historical Afrikaans varieties are spoken and heard. The aim was to determine whether series of lessons, similar to the one used in this study, could be regarded (and recommended) as an appropriate presentation method to disseminate the inclusive history of the development of Afrikaans among the school-going youth. Knowledge of and insight in the inclusive history of the development of Afrikaans may contribute to the process of reconciliation in South Africa, because this history suggests that Afrikaans is the collective creation of Afrikaans-speaking citizens' ancestors: Europeans from the West, indigenous Koina from Africa, and slaves brought from the East. / Thesis (Ph.D. (Afrikaans en Nederlands)--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2008.

The diploma thesis "Reconstruction of historical image of selected landscape chosen for needs of land adjustment " brings an overview and basic characteristics of landscape changes in area of the Czech Republic and its development in individual time periods. Except for visible signs in landscape, it describes also causes and processes running in background of these changes, which were mainly caused by different political and socioeconomic views during the time. Basis for reconstruction of historical image of a landscape gives direct comparison between usage and shape of chosen landscape and so called "land use" analysis based on qualification criteria. The goal of the thesis is to bring an overview of landscape development and bring options for reconstruction of historical condition for needs of regional development.

The content of my graduation theses is historical development of pension insurance and plans for the reform in Czech Republic. In historical part I tried to refer to our long-term tradition of legal form of pension insurance and point out the most significant legal enactments of this branch of law. I also tried to answer the question if we can prosper from the experience of history when preparing the new pension reform. In the other part of my work I summarized the deficiency and positive aspects of current pension system in Czech Republic and also I referred to need to pass a new legal form of pension system with regards to financial untenability of the system and demographic development. I tried to describe present political and special endeavors of pension system reform that has been in progress since 1990 and than I pointed out the current discussion about pension reform. The object of my work was not to find out the ideal pension reform, because I think there is no ideal reform, but just to advert to necessity to change the current system. Diploma thesis explains the development of the metropolitan area of the capital city Prague and also shows the process of urbanization with emphasis into local specifities. Thesis approximates the local urbanization process and its phases through the detail subscription of this phenomenon which is later applied to Europe and also Eastern Europe. This part of thesis describes eastward influence and its specific developmental stages and changes in Prague metropolitan area. Thesis practically shows each of the selected period and phase of development in the metropolitan area with the definitions of key milestones for the development of spatial and architectural layout of the city and its surroundings. Work confronts theoretical assumptions of urbanization and suburbanization under scrutiny of its developmental specifics and historical contexts, and in the final part, case study provides the subjective opinion of the author on the future development of the area according to the historical processes.

1 Development of Lien in Czech Countries Abstract The diploma thesis examines the development of lien in the Czech countries. The first part is focused on the theoretical description of the laws of lien from the point of view of today's legal theory. The theoretical description shall help the reader with better orientation and understanding of the basic principles of the lien, which developments are examined in the following parts. One of the main goals of the diploma thesis in the second part is to describe the development of lien, using the description method. The development of lien is described from its beginnings in Roman law which fundamentally shaped the next development of lien, through the Middle Ages, where the laws of lien were partly fragmented, until current legislation which mostly follows the Roman law heritage. In the second part of the diploma thesis, the main emphasis is placed on the development of lien after the year 1811, where are also considered the significant social and economic events in the history of the Czech countries, which visibly shaped the forms of lien. Nors vieni ar kiti tyrinėtojai užfiksavo svarbesnius miestelio raidos įvykius, tačiau nuoseklaus vientiso tyrimo neatliko. Todėl ši priežastis paskatino autorę imtis tokio tyrimo. Autorės atrasti nauji, netyrinėti archyviniai šaltiniai svariai papildys turimą informaciją apie Stakliškes. Jie į mokslinę apyvartą įtraukiami pirmą kartą. Visuomenine prasme aktuali tema: auga visuomenės susidomėjimas Stakliškių miestelio istorija, jo paveldu. Ši priežastis paskatino parengti nuoseklią Stakliškių miestelio istorijos studiją. Subjektyvus-asmeninis noras detaliau pažinti gimtojo krašto istoriją, su ja supažindinti miestelio bendruomenę ir moksleivius. Todėl autorė siekė užpildyti Stakliškių miestelio istorijos tyrimų spragą. / The subject of this work for the Master of Science is the history of the Town of Stakliskes during the 17th Century through the first half of 20th Century. The work consists of introduction, 3 chapters with sections, conclusion, listings of abbreviations, sources and bibliography, as well as the enclosures. This kind of job structure was influenced by the chronological-problematic job research principal. The author discussing the historic development of the Town of Stakliskes, by distinguishing its most important stages, describing the stages of its religions heritage, and identifying its population’s demographic, social-economic, religious and cultural-public work during that historic period. Therefore the historic development of the events are outlined in the first chapter of this work, together with explanation of the most important factors (the origin of the estate and the church in Stakliskes). The second chapter talks about the history of the church in Stakliskes, its architectural style and the preservation of artistic and historic values. In the third chapter of this work the author analyzes the population situation and its social work during the 17th Century through the first half of 20th Century. This work is enriched with the enclosures, which include statistic tables with the population census in the 19th Century, created by the author. The diploma thesis focuses on the historical development of leisure activities in the North Bohemian town of Varnsdorf. It particularly deals with the period from 1945 to 1989 in great detail. The text also contains a chapter describing general free time issues and a brief chapter devoted to the development of leisure activities in Varnsdorf until 1945. It mentions Mr. Josef Mašín as an important local personam who remarkably influenced leisure activities in the town. Subject of the thesis named Nursery Schools in the Town of Tabor between 1948 - 2010 is to describe the historical development of nursery schools in Tabor. The main goal of the thesis is to research development of Tabor's nursery schools. The thesis is divided into ten chapters. These concerns with the history and characteristic of the town Tabor, preschool institutions and its development in Bohemia, school system in Tabor, nursery schools in Tabor till 1945 and after 1945, history of four oldest nursery schools in Tabor, criteria of public holidays and children's healthcare in four oldest nursery schools in Tabor and comparison on base of chronicles. The thesis is a historical study and analysis ensuing from primary sources. There is used a historical method and primary documents and comparative methods in the thesis. The issue is research of the nursery school development in Tabor between 1948 and 2010.
