In the thesis, mainly the "macroidentity" of the Baltic States, i.e. their formation in the space between the European and the Russian spheres and within the superior regions of northern, eastern and central Europe is evaluated. The concepts of these regions and subsequently their influence on the territorial identity of the Baltic States are discussed. The elements of internal identity of individual Baltic States, according to which the Baltic region can be considered a distinctive region within the concept of northeastern Europe, are discussed in later section of the thesis. Územní identity a náboženství v Česku a střední Evropě / Territorial identities and religion in Czechia and Central EuropeReeves, Daniel Vinson January 2018 (has links)
Territorial identities are a mosaic of many different cultural elements, from which religion is just one subset. This dissertation explores elements of religion as they are expressed within territorial identities at varying scale levels in Czechia and several neighboring countries. The use of a religiously themed postage stamp or a Christian toponym, the inclusion of a religious site in a hand drawn map of one's hometown or one's position regarding the return of disputed properties to the churches they were taken from years ago, each of these can be an expression of territorial identity. Whether actively practiced or passively acknowledged, religion is bound up in our sense of place. The four separate studies that make up the body of this dissertation present religion's case as an integral ingredient within the territorial identities of Central Europe. In terms of spatial differences, Slovakia and Poland are more likely, as compared to Czechia, to recognize and include elements of religion in their territorial identities. This is true at both national - postage stamps - and local levels - toponyms and cognitive maps. Each of the methods used to explore the presence of religion in expressions of territorial identity - postage stamps, toponyms and cognitive maps - proved effective. The comparative...

Transylvánská regionální identita a její politická reflexe po roce 1989 / Transylvanian Regional Identity after 1989: Political ReflectionKocián, Jiří January 2019 (has links)
KOCIÁN, Jiří. Transylvanian regional identity and its political reflection after 1989. The thesis deals with the question of reviving Transylvanian regional identity and its political use in Romania after 1989. It demonstrates that regional identity has gradually grown in political importance, and represents the content, actors and typology of models of its reflection. The Romanian Communist regime under Nicolae Ceaușescu followed longer-term centralizing tendencies that did not favor maintaining regional specificities. But regional identity, like other collective identities, is the result of a continuous process of daily interactions between its bearers and external actors, all of whom are involved in its construction. Because of that, it survived a period of suppression in its vernacular form. Contributing to its survival was the fact that the multi-ethnic region of Transylvania and its specificities, which represent the core of regional identity, have a thousand-year history. The thesis points, by applying a discourse analysis of the content of newspaper articles, to the fact that regional identity took the form of political discourse after 1989. This discourse rivaled the previous discursive hegemony of the country's centralist concept of state and nation in Romanian public sphere. At the same...

Otázka konverze u Pársů / Conversion in the Parsi CommunityHorňák, Milan January 2021 (has links)
The present work examines the debate about the permissibility of conversion in the Parsi community of India. It explores the historical development of the debate with a focus on the main groups and their ideologies. It shows that both of the sides of the debate aimed to formulate their convictions in a Westernized language for a greater social prestige, while in both cases largely preserving the traditional endogamic rules in practice.

Genderové vztahy v románu Život je jinde od Milana Kundery / Gender relationships in a novel Life is elsewhere by Milan KunderaHorčičková, Aneta January 2015 (has links)
This thesis discusses gender relationships in the novel Life is elsewhere by Milan Kundera. The first part of the analysis focuses on construction of motherhood and fatherhood, from which eventually results the positive/negative relationships of the child to the parents and on which we can also see the organization of the parenting practice itself. The second part is devoted to the key issue of the mother - son interactions, and therefore it analyzes the psychoanalytic concept of the Oedipal complex and difficulties associated with it, such as the son's dependence on the dominant mother who in addition fully replaces the absent father. I especially concentrate on the effort of the son to free himself from this dependence and on his consequent search for male identity. Methodologically, my text is designed as a combination of archetypal analysis with an interpretative or conceptual analysis, stemming from the approach of the so called resisting reading. This thesis compares traditional concepts with the feminist ones and applies them on the characters of Kundera's novel. Key words: gender relationships, psychoanalysis, archetypes, dominant mother, male identity.
