Coordination of social security in the EU - indexation of family benefits in the Republic of Austria As a unique system of cooperation across the European territory, social security coordination is currently facing political and legal challenges, which culminated in the ongoing legal proceedings initiated by the European Commission as a plaintiff against one of the Member States, namely the Republic of Austria. The first part of this master thesis (chapters one and two) introduces the reader to the general characteristics of coordination, its principles and its anchoring in the EU law. Part two (chapters three to five) allows the reader to learn more about the issue of indexation of (coordinated) family benefits and its history in Europe. It looks in more detail at indexation in the Republic of Austria, specifically its journey from a political idea to an application practice that conflicts with the current EU coordination arrangements, in particular the principle of equal treatment. The thesis describes the design and implementation of an application for processing electronic publications (collections of conference papers, comprehensive manuals, or even classical electronic books) in order to enrich their internal navigation by hyperlinks between their related parts, respectively producing as representative as possible summarizations of given length. Unlike similar applications summarizations can be based not only on the sentences, but on elements of other categories like paragraphs, sections and the like.The main emphasis was put on ease of use, platform independence, and multilingual support. The application provides a flexible environment that can be customized to user's needs.

Tématem této práce je sémantické vyhledávání ve velkých textových datech. Cílem je navrhnout a implementovat vyhledávač, který se bude efektivně dotazovat nad sémanticky obohacenými dokumenty a prezentovat výsledky uživatelsky přívětivým způsobem. V práci jsou nejdříve analyzovány současné sémantické vyhledávače, spolu s jejich silnými a slabými stránkami. Poté je přednesen návrh nového vyhledávače s vlastním dotazovacím jazykem. Tento systém se skládá z komponent pro indexaci a dotazování se nad dokumenty, management serveru, překladače pro dotazovací jazyk a dvou klientských aplikací, webové a konzolové. Vyhledávač byl úspěšně navržen, implementován i nasazen a je veřejně dostupný na Internetu. Výsledky práce umožňují široké veřejnosti využívat sémantického vyhledávání.

Poetics of space in The Alexandria Quartet is created by multilevel structures. This poetics is closely connected to the main space of the story - Alexandria, which is at the same time one of the novel's topics. Each level is suggested in connection to various theoretical conceptions which are subsequently used for my own analysis. Alexandria is initially an aesthetic coulisse of the story which is portrayed by descriptive passages. Strongly subjective and lyrical descriptions of the city establish overall impression of the story and potentially support reader's experiential illusion. Alexandria and its specificity is further modulated and thematised by its special macroscopic conditions which border Alexandria as an autonomous fictional space with its own rules within the novel's fictional world. Part of poetics of the space in this novel is also portraying spatio-temporal aspect of the reality (chronotope) no only on the level of the story, but also on the level of storytelling. Alexandria is further explicit rhetoric and also through semantic indexation personified and enters semantic relations with the main characters and events. The objective of this thesis is to provide a survey of document digitalization and to analyse the market of companies outsourcing the document digitalization. The first part of the thesis decribes the technology of scannig and the methods of document recognition and data minig. It also decribes the systems of barcodes used to identify documents. Furthermore, this thesis includes the principles of document saving and electronic (digital) signature issues from the viewpoint of Czech legislation. Its contribution lies in analysing the companies dealing with outsourcing of the document digitalization and in the view of a company using these services. A brief outlook to the future regarding this topic is included as well.

This master's thesis describes principles of full text search engines, design and implementation of web application for referencing and full text searching in PDF documents. It also contains an overview and comparison with currently available reference management software. There are discussed bibliographic information export possibilities in various citation styles and formats. Final application is written in PHP scripting language and uses MySQL database.

The diploma thesis focuses on subject description unification methods in records aggregated from different sources in digital repositories, using the example of the National Repository of Grey Literature (NRGL). After presenting experiences with systems BASE and LASSO abroad, I describe the current situation in NRGL, where the automatic indexing is used to assign each record a unified subject heading from the Polythematic Structured Subject Heading System (PSSHS). The thesis then presents how the MeSH thesaurus and Conspectus categorization scheme were mapped to PSSHS. These mappings were then applied to records from the National Medical Library. The aim of the experiment was to compare the subject description consisting of PSSHS subject headings created by automatic indexing, and the subject description created by mapping. This thesis summarizes the information retrieval theory, the relational model basic and focuses on the data indexing in relational database systems. The thesis focuses on multimedia data searching. It includes description of automatic multimedia data content extraction and multimedia data indexing. Practical part discusses design and solution implementation for improving query effectivity for multidimensional vector similarity which describes multimedia data. Thesis final part discusses experiments with this solution.
