This study seeks to integrate informal and formal music learning in a university guitar class with a secondary focus on evaluating the effectiveness of this approach in meeting student's stated goals for learning the guitar. Salient features in formal music learning were discovered from an examination of guitar method books. Informal features were examined from a reading of extant research on popular music pedagogy and expounded upon through research devoted to specific areas of informal music learning and popular music pedagogy. These features were used in the creation of a guitar curriculum to aid in the integration of both formal and informal music learning in a university guitar class. Data were gathered through pre- and post-study questionnaires, interviews, and video analysis. Analysis of data shows that integrating formal and informal music learning in a beginner's guitar class is effective in meeting student stated goals for the course. Note reading was an area that was not effective in meeting student goals for the course. Data revealed that note reading should be taught slowly, in key based relationships and with fewer notes taught over the 16 week course. Integrating informal music learning procedures in a formal environment proved to be challenging for the students. A difficulty existed in the student's ability to task switch between formal and informal learning in the University setting. Implications from the study are listening should be considered a primary means for learning music and haphazard learning is beneficial, though difficult to include in a systematized curriculum.

In 2008 a new educational initiative termed “School without segregation” was implemented in Iceland. Its goal was to ensure that all children would be provided with education suited to individual variations in social and educational needs. Coinciding with this policy initiative a new technology strategy was implemented in the municipality of Kópavogur, Iceland´s second largest city, with the aim to equip children to deal with the fundamental technological changes in modern society and integrate technology in their education. As an integral part of this strategy all students in Kópavogur, from the fifth to the tenth grade were given iPads in 2015. The affected population was approximately 4.700 students and over 450 teachers. A significant body of research has examined how students fare when technology is integrated into their education. However, this thesis aims to examine how the implementation of this tablet-centric initiative affected the working environment of the municipality´s teachers, a subject that has been researched to a much lesser extent. With the aid of personal interviews communication between stakeholders of the initiative, strategies to motivate and encourage teachers in dealing with the change in their working environment and support afforded during the process was examined. Special focus was placed on the extent of involvement and participation of teachers during the implementation and the question of whether teachers´ opinions had an impact throughout the process. The thesis analysis is based on 18 semi-formal interviews with teachers from all of the city´s nine schools. Additionally, the team in charge of leading the implementation was interviewed to further broaden the scope. In brief, the thesis highlights that contention surrounded various aspects of the implementation. Many of the teachers felt overwhelmed and hesitant and described feeling that their concerns went unnoticed. Today, however, three years down the road, the iPads seem to have become an integral part of the everyday working environment of teachers and students alike and none of the teachers want to go back to teaching without iPads.

A partir do século XX, o ensino da teoria da Evolução Biológica de Charles Darwin passou a integrar os currículos da educação básica no Brasil e no mundo, e desde então muitas divergências acerca do ensino deste tema têm surgido. O uso de recursos didáticos alternativos e a educação informal em ciências podem ser uma importante ferramenta de auxílio ao professor, se bem utilizado em sala de aula, minimizando os problemas decorrentes do ensino tradicional. Os objetivos do trabalho foram os seguintes: (1) Identificar por quais meios os alunos do ensino médio de escolas públicas e particulares de São José do Rio Preto-SP aprendem ou se informam a respeito da teoria da Evolução Biológica; (2) avaliar a importância atribuída por professores à educação informal na aprendizagem da Evolução Biológica; (3) identificar se os professores de Biologia utilizam recursos e estratégias alternativas de ensino como recurso didático para ensinar a Evolução Biológica e qual a importância por eles atribuída a esses recursos; (4) verificar como os professores de Biologia se posicionam como parceiros mais capazes no ensino de Evolução Biológica. On twentieth century the evolutionary biology theory has integrated the basics education curriculum in Brazil and other parts of the world, and since then many divergent opinions has appeared about the teaching of this theme. So, the use of alternative teaching resources and strategies and informal science teaching can be an important helping tool to the teacher, if well used at classroom, helping on decreasing the problems coming from the traditional teaching. The objectives of this job were: (1) Identify by what channels the high school students of public and private schools get informed about evolutionary biology; (2) evaluate how important is the informal science teaching on the Evolutionary Biology learning, on teachers' view; (3) identify if Biology teachers use alternative didactic resources and strategies as didactic resource on the Evolutionary Biology teaching and how important are they for him; (4) verify how Biology teachers get positioned as most capable partner on the Evolutionary Biology teaching. O objetivo desse estudo é, ao analisar como a reciclagem se estrutura no capitalismo contemporâneo, evidenciar a oculta exploração da força de trabalho, sobretudo da mulher catadora de materiais recicláveis, traçando uma relação entre a expansão dessa atividade laboral e as transformações político-econômicas e sociais do final do século XX e início do século XXI. Como hipótese, aponta-se o crescimento da informalidade nas relações de produção, desencadeando o crescimento da produção de uma população excedente em relação à necessidade média de trabalhadoras e trabalhadores ocupados para a valorização do capital, o resgate das associações de trabalho e a utilização da força de trabalho das mulheres como fatores intensificadores da exploração capitalista, que articuladamente fundamentam a expansão do trabalho de catação no país. / Abstract: Bases on field trips to collect oral reports from pickers of recyclable materials in the cities of Araçatuba/SP and Marília/SP, the process of industrial recycling in São Paulo State countryside is analyzed, articulating it to the discussions about organization of production processes in Brazil, highlighting the gender based work division. The aim is, by analyzing how recycling is structured in contemporary capitalism, to emphasize the hidden exploitation of the workforce, especially women pickers of recyclable materials, drawing a link between the expansion of this labor activity and the political-economic and social transformations of the late twentieth century and early twenty-first century. As a hypothesis to this study, the growth of informality in production relationships is highlighted, triggering production growth of an overpopulation relative to the average need for workers employed for capital appreciation, the rescue of work associations and the use of the labor force of women as enhancing factors of capitalist exploitation, which articulately justify the process of expansion of pickers work in the country. / Mestre

Este trabalho tem o objetivo de contribuir para intervenções mais sustentáveis em assentamentos precários, considerando a percepção ambiental dos moradores da Ilha Grande dos Marinheiros. Trata-se de local pertencente à Área de Proteção Ambiental do Delta do Jacuí, situada na região metropolitana de Porto Alegre. Tendo em vista a situação das ocupações e a extrema vulnerabilidade ambiental do local, a inclusão da percepção da população e a identificação de suas necessidades são fundamentais em processo de intervenção mais sustentável. O estudo foi desenvolvido inicialmente através de um levantamento preliminar, por meio de entrevistas e de levantamento de dados, buscando uma apreensão do local e definição dos objetivos do trabalho. A etapa seguinte consistiu em levantamento de dados, realizado por meio de entrevistas e por observação direta. O objetivo principal foi identificar e analisar a percepção ambiental dos moradores da Ilha Grande dos Marinheiros a fim de fornecer subsídios a intervenções mais sustentáveis em assentamentos precários. Como objetivos intermediários, buscou-se identificar e analisar a relação entre a percepção ambiental e sustentabilidade em assentamentos precários; os vínculos afetivos dos residentes com o local e com a comunidade e os principais problemas e necessidades dos moradores, para confrontar os dados obtidos na pesquisa com dados técnicos e com a bibliografia consultada. Os dados foram analisados, apresentados à comunidade e confrontados com recomendações técnicas. Foram identificados e analisados o perfil, valores, atitudes, o nível de satisfação dos moradores, seu modo de vida, os principais problemas da área, sua percepção sobre a questão ambiental e sua expectativa em relação à APA. Verificou-se, também, que uma parcela significativa dos entrevistados tem um vínculo afetivo com o local e com a natureza, sobretudo os ilhéus, e que há diferenças na percepção ambiental e atitudes conforme local de moradia. O trabalho se mostra relevante, tendo em vista a viabilidade da ocupação do local a partir da criação da APA, tornando-se necessário um projeto de intervenção mais sustentável. / The aim of this work is to contribute for more sustainable interventions in precarious settlements, considering the environmental perception of the inhabitants of Ilha Grande dos Marinheiros. It is located in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre and it is situated in the EPA of Delta do Jacuí. Regarding the situation of the occupation and the extreme environmental vulnerability, the inclusion of the perception of the population and the identification of its yearnings are essential in the process of sustainable intervention. The study was developed initially through an exploratory stage, in order to comprehend the site. The following stage consisted of data collecting, carried through by interviews with inhabitants and observation. The main objective was to identify and to analyze the environmental perception of the inhabitants of Ilha Grande dos Marinheiros, in order to support more sustainable interventions in precarious settlements. As secundary objetives the affective values, attitudes, place and community attachment and the main problems of the area were identified to confront with the technical information colleted in the literature. Subsequently the data were analyzed and presented to the community. The profile, values, attitudes and expectations of the inhabitants were identified and analysed, in relation to the living period on the site, and also the existing conflicts. It was also verified that a large number of the interviewed have a place and nature attachment. This work is expected to be relevant, regarding the viability of the areas occupation due to the EPA´s creation in 2005, becoming necessary a more sustainable intervention project, for which, the consideration of the population perception and the identification of their yearnings becomes essencial.

Les nouvelles exigences de l’Education Nationale imposent aux enseignants de s’engager dans une démarche individuelle et collective de développement professionnel et ce tout au long de leur carrière. Ce concept est d’ailleurs très présent dans les débats professionnels et scientifiques. Le développement professionnel des enseignants est un processus qui peut se déployer dans la sphère privée par un travail personnel. Ce travail bénéficie depuis une quinzaine d’années de l’émergence du numérique et de ces outils. Le numérique irrigue désormais toutes les sphères professionnelles et le métier de l’enseignant n’y échappe pas. De nouvelles possibilités d’accéder à des ressources numériques ouvrent de nouveaux « espaces de savoir » et de nouvelles modalités d’apprentissage aux enseignants. Ce travail de thèse tente de décrire et de comprendre de quelle manière les usages numériques informels peuvent produire des situations d’apprentissage, de collaboration et de ce fait participer au développement professionnel des enseignants du primaire et plus spécifiquement ceux de la Haute-Garonne. Afin de répondre à cette problématique, une méthode mixte, quantitative et qualitative, a été mobilisée. Les résultats obtenus démontrent une interrelation entre les usages numériques dans la sphère privée des enseignants et les indicateurs liés au processus du développement professionnel. Hors de l’établissement, c’est-à-dire lors des séquences les moins identifiables de son travail, l’enseignant continue d’agir en professionnel : il s’informe, prépare, réfléchit, fabrique, échange sur l’acte d’apprentissage et d’enseignement. Ces procédures numériques que nous décrirons sont des leviers de professionnalisation et de structuration des compétences. / Today’s teachers are required by the National Education to get involved in an individual and collective process of professional development throughout their career. This concept is actually very present in professional and scientific debates. Teachers’ professional development is a process that can be extended in the private sphere with personal work. For about fifteen years this work has benefited from the emergence of digital tools. These days digital circulates in all professional spheres and the teaching profession can’t escape it. New opportunities of access to digital resources open up new « spaces of knowledge » and new learning methods for teachers.This thesis work attempts to describe and understand how informal digital uses can bring about learning, collaborating situations and therefore how they can take part in the professional development of primary school teachers, more precisely those in the Haute-Garonne department. A mixed method both quantitative and qualitative has been used in response to this problem.The obtained results show an interrelation between the digital uses in teachers’ private sphere and the indicators related to the process of professional development.Outside the school i.e. during their working time that is most difficult to identify, teachers keep working as professionals : they do research and preparation work, they think, create, exchange about the act of learning and teaching. The digital procedures we will describe are good means to become professional and to structure one’s abilities.

A presente pesquisa teve como objetivo investigar como os processos de ensino e aprendizagem musical formal se manifestam nas experiências e vivências não-formais e informais dos adolescentes fora da escola. No primeiro capítulo são revistos os estudos realizados por autores da área de Educação Musical, abordando as questões referentes ao ensino e aprendizagem musical dentro e fora da escola. Posteriormente são apresentadas as idéias e discussões realizadas por autores da Educação, bem como as perspectivas que orientam esta pesquisa. Neste capítulo, ainda, é definida a utilização dos termos formal, não-formal e informal no contexto desta pesquisa, partindo da perspectiva de Libâneo (2000). O segundo capítulo descreve a metodologia utilizada para o desenvolvimento desta pesquisa. São discutidos os eixos metodológicos que conduziram esta investigação, procedimentos, coleta e análise de dados. Foram realizados três estudos de caso com adolescentes expostos ao ensino formal de música, e que possuíam experiências musicais em bandas. Os dados foram coletados através de duas entrevistas semi-estruturadas e três observações dos ensaios das bandas, sendo uma dessas gravada em vídeo.

A informação tem assumido ao longo dos anos maior papel de destaque no cotidiano empresarial, com as organizações contemporâneas passando reconhecê-la possivelmente como o seu principal recurso. Associado a isso, assistimos ao crescimento cada vez maior de um volume de informações organizacionais não estruturadas, mas que são de profunda importância na tomada de decisão; o que justifica o aumento de discussão do tema nos últimos anos. Atribui-se nada menos que quatro quintos (4/5) de informação não estruturada dentre todas as informações criadas em uma organização, volume considerável, pois, e para os quais ainda muito há por fazer em termos de métodos, técnicas e ferramental. Este trabalho se insere na continuação das pesquisas do grupo GIANTI (Grupo de pesquisa de Gestão do Impacto da Adoção de novas Tecnologias de Informação), complementarmente à abordagem referente à gestão da informação com caráter subjetivo, enfatizando seu compartilhamento nas organizações. O presente estudo objetivou adentrar neste contexto através de uma Observação Participante realizada na empresa Johnson & Johnson, propondo um framework de estruturação da coleta e do tratamento das informações qualitativas e mesmo subjetivas, baseado no compartilhamento de informações informais para sua utilização em processos decisórios individuais ou coletivos, trabalhando com uma dinâmica prática de processos, aqui denominado “Escuta Permanente”. A partir de uma literatura que buscou elementos de processo decisório e de compartilhamento de informação, foi possível retomar e agregar elementos ao conceito de Escuta Permanente, bem como operacionalizá-lo através de uma ferramenta computacional via web. Como contribuição, considera-se que teve condições de demonstrar, na realidade observada, a utilidade e, sobretudo a aplicabilidade do conceito de Escuta Permanente, mostrando-se efetiva sua aderência e link com os referenciais teóricos propostos, associando a aplicação prática e relevância a possíveis ganhos com sua utilização em maior escala. / Information has assumed over the years greater role in everyday business, with contemporary organizations through possibly recognize it as their main resource Associated with this, we see the growth of a growing volume of unstructured organizational information, but which are of profound importance in decision making, which explains the increased discussion of the topic in recent years. Assigns up no less than four-fifths (4/5) of unstructured information from all the information created in an organization, considerable amount, therefore, and for which there is still much to be done in terms of methods, techniques and tools. This work is part of the continuation of the research group GIANTI (Management Research Group Impact of the Adoption of New Information Technologies), complementary approach to the management of information relating to subjective character, emphasizing his sharing in organizations. The present study aimed to penetrate this context through a Participant Observation held at Johnson & Johnson company, proposing a model for structuring the collection and processing of qualitative information and even subjective, based on informal information sharing for its use in decision-making processes or individual collective, working with a dynamic practice processes, here called "Listen Standing." From a literature that sought elements of decision-making and sharing of information, it was possible to resume and add elements to the concept of Permanent Listening and operationalized it through a web-based computational tool. As a contribution, it is able to demonstrate that had actually observed, utility and especially the applicability of the concept of Permanent Listening, showing up your grip and effective link with the theoretical frameworks proposed, involving the practical application and relevance to possible gains from their use on a larger scale.

Dentre todas as atividades que uma organização realiza, a monitoração do ambiente certamente deveria ser uma delas. Nesta atividade, que tem como principal entrada e também saída a informação, em poucos casos são desenvolvidas todas as etapas recomendadas. Muitos são os fatores que provocam, ou que ensejam este comportamento por parte das empresas, um deles é o excesso de informação disponível no mercado, o que dificulta a monitoração. Neste processo, sobretudo devido a esta dificuldade, muitos acabam recorrendo a informações não estruturadas, informais, provenientes das mais diversas fontes. Assim sendo, o objetivo deste trabalho é buscar compreender, através da identificação de algumas dimensões da atividade de monitoração do ambiente, o uso da informação informal por executivos e especialistas da área de Tecnologia da Informação (TI). Foram considerados fornecedores indivíduos especialistas que tenham como principal função distribuir informação, ou seja, jornalistas – como busca-se compreender o setor de TI, filtrou-se profissionais que estivessem ligados à área. Já os usuários são executivos, os quais foram selecionados de acordo com o ramo de suas empresas, ou seja, que comercializassem soluções na área. Por se tratar de um estudo de natureza exploratória e qualitativa, a coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de entrevistas em profundidade com estes indivíduos. Os resultados, analisados à luz das dimensões identificadas, permitiram que se obtivesse um panorama do uso da informação informal tanto por fornecedores quanto por usuários, para fins de monitoração do ambiente. / Among all organizational activities, environmental scanning should be one of them. This activity, which has the information as main output and input, just in a few cases is developed with all recommended stages. There are lots of reasons that incentives/contributes to this behavior, one of them is the flood of information that comes from the market, which difficults the environmental scanning activity. In this process, especially due to this, some go after non-structured informal information, from all kinds of sources. Based on this, the aim of this study is to comprehend, through the identification of some dimensions of environmental scanning, the use of informal information by executives and specialists from IT (Information Technology). It was considered individual specialists that have as main occupation to provide/distribute information, in this case, professionals that have an involvement with the IT area. The users are executives that were selected according to the core business of their organizations – that is oriented to the IT area as well. As an exploratory and qualitative study, the data collection was made through interviews with the participants. The results were analyzed according to the dimensions identified, and this allowed to have a broad scenario of the use of informal information – by whom provides and by who uses information to scan their environments.
