The subject of this thesis is the novel Das fliegende Klassenzimmer (1933) written by the German writer Erich Kästner and its two Czech translations from Marta Třísková (1935) and Jitka Fučíková (1961). The beginning of the theoretical part describes the author's personality and his work. Afterwards, the literary, cultural and historical context are explained, followed by other aspects connected with the German source text. The theoretical part also includes the translation theory, on which the thesis is based, and the specifics of translating children's literature. The empirical part consists of a translation analysis of the original and the Czech versions and concludes with a comparison of both translations.

České překlady románu Zauberberg od Thomase Manna / Thomas Mann and his novel The Magic Mountain in Czech translations

The subject of this diploma thesis is the novel Der Zauberberg by the German writer Thomas Mann and its existing Czech translations and reeditions of translations from 1930, 1935/1936, 1958, 1975 and 2016. The work is based on the following translatological bases: contemporary norms and conventions, paratexes and metatexts, and translation of the title of the work. The following part is devoted to the personality of the author and his work, the novel Der Zauberberg presents itself in the cultural and historical context of the time of creation and does not neglect the reception in the German environment. The benefit of this diploma thesis is to describe the reception of this novel in the Czech environment, where we will focus on the macrotexual (paratexty) and microtextual analysis of selected parts of the original and all Czech translations. The main methodological tool for microtextual analysis of selected passages of Mann's novel represents the typology of expression changes and shifts in the translation of Anton Popovič (1975, 1983).

This diploma thesis titled ``my heart does not fly{\crq}{\crq} Jiří Orten in book illustration deals with the poetic works of Jiří Orten from the viewpoint of illustrating Orten{\crq}s poetry. The theoretical part of the thesis includes Orten{\crq}s biography and the description of his poetic works, which are important for the interpretation of the illustrations. An interview with Jaroslav Šerých, who is one of the illustrators of Orten{\crq}s poetry, has been made for a deeper understanding of the issue of illustrating Orten{\crq}s poems. The practical part of the thesis consists in creating collections of illustrations inspired by some Orten{\crq}s poems. The final versions of the illustrations are completed in typography. The main aim of this thesis is a creation of author{\crq}s own illustrations for Orten{\crq}s poems and writing an essay about it.
