Análisis de la cobertura periodística de la Hípica peruana en el diario “El Comercio” en los años 30’ / Analysis of the journalistic coverage of Peruvian Equestrian in the newspaper "El Comercio" in the 30's

Cevedon Herrera, Laura Carolina 01 December 2019 (has links)
This research analyzes the journalistic coverage on equestrian of the newspaper "El Comercio" in the 1930s, when the Peruvian political context was led by the third militarism. Peruvian history takes a turn in this era where militarism made a pact with the oligarchy to remain in power indirectly. Journalistic text reviews prove that the racecourse rather than being a sports center was a space for social gathering, the press itself covered the character rather than the news. For the analysis, a literature review was carried out, the search and reading of journalistic archives of those years in the before mentioned newspaper that at that time covered horse riding as an important sport. The objective of this work is to know the use of journalistic resources in those years to indicate the link between the power, the state and the Peruvian press. / Tesis

Tratamiento noticioso del conflicto entre la población cajamarquina y la minera Yanacocha por el proyecto Conga durante los años 2011-2012 en la versión impresa del diario La República / News treatment of the conflict between the Cajamarca population and the Yanacocha mining company by the Conga project during the years 2011-2012 in the printed version of the newspaper La República

Castañeda Izquierdo, Aldo Rene 16 October 2019 (has links)
The conflicts that occurred in the Cajamarca region during the years 2011 and 2012 put the government of then President Ollanta Humala in check and called the attention of all the media in the country. There were several dead in the process in which the Yanacocha miner tried to start a new project called Conga. Due to mining mistakes in the past, Cajamarquinos residents were reluctant for a new mining project to open its doors and thus put the water resource that was so important to them at risk. In that sense, this research proposed analyzing the news treatment that the newspaper La República, the medium with a political line marked on the left, made during these months of conflict that cover the years 2011 and 2012. After analyzing 35 covers with its published interiors During this period, it was concluded that this newspaper was not necessarily favorable with respect to the Cajamarca protesters, so a more complex news treatment was carried out where all the actors involved were made visible. / Tesis

The cases of Augusto Thorndike - Malzon Urbina on Canal N in 2014 and Patricia Del Río - Agustín Laje / Nicolás Márquez in RPP in 2017

Ojeda Briceño, Alexandra 09 March 2020 (has links)
This research includes the problematic of the factors that damage the existence of objectivity, or impartiality, in the professional practice of journalism. To illustrate this problem, it has been taken as a reference two specific cases. The first of them, is the television interview made on Canal N by the peruvian journalist, Augusto Thorndike, to the former lawyer of the traders expelled from the market "La Parada", Malzon Urbina, during 2014. A second case is the interview in RPP by the peruvian journalist Patricia Del Río to the argentine writers Agustín Laje and Nicolás Márquez, for the launch of "The black book of the new left" and its allusion to the ideology of gender and feminism, during 2017. / Tesis

Morality and journalists: objectivity versus duty of care

Leshilo, Thabo Maphike January 2018 (has links)
A research report submitted to the Faculty of Humanities, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts, Applied Ethics for Professionals, Johannesburg 2018 / In this research report I address the question: Do journalists have a moral duty towards those they report on beyond the objectivity requirement of their job? I use the famous example of freelance photojournalist Kevin Carter and his iconic photograph of a starving Sudanese child, seemingly on death’s door and being stalked by a vulture. He was roundly condemned for shooting the image but doing nothing to save the child’s life. I examine this classic example of the observance of the journalistic standard of objectivity and non-intervention, against the Kantian imperative to respect human life. I contrast this with two examples in which, in my view, journalists acted correctly in terms of Kantian ethics by putting human life above their own, narrow professional roles and interests. / XL2019

The inca country: Reframing translated news from spanish to english by peruvian news agency andina

Cama-Casafranca, Melissa Erika, Del Carmen Olivares-Espinoza, Lucía 02 February 2021 (has links)
This paper analyses the reframing strategies (Baker, 2006) and transfer of communicational functions (Nord, 2010) in some news translated by state-owned Peruvian News Agency Andina (Agencia Peruana de Noticias Andina) from Spanish to English. This media platform uses translation to expand its readership to foreigners that might be interested in visiting and investing in Peru (Andina, 2016, par. 14), thus helping the nation's economy to grow. The study is based on a bilingual corpus of 114 news articles published in the economics and tourism sections during 2019. The contrastive text analysis showed how Andina reframes the translations to adapt them into a new sociocultural context, reflecting the discourse of the Peru brand. Andina translations reveal the use of reframing strategies to recontextualize events having an impact on Peruvian economy, to herald a "patriotic" discourse that highlights government's achievements, targeting Peruvian readership, and to provide information related to Peruvian tourist attractions. The changes in communicative functions inform change in text type focus in a set of translated news towards a tourism genre.

Newspaper Editor Attitudes Toward Matters Involving Privacy

LaRocque, Paul R. 08 1900 (has links)
The primary purpose of this study is to determine whether there has been a change in attitude of newspaper editors toward privacy matters. The study examines a 1976 survey of editors on some specific situations involving privacy and compares that survey with one done for this paper in the spring of 1983. The study also seeks to determine whether such factors as circulation size, type of readership and political philosophy have any influence on privacy decisions made by editors. The study shows that there has been a change in attitudes. A chi square test showed that the comparison of the two surveys was significant at .01. Figures gathered to determine influences on privacy decisions were scattered among many categories and too small to be statistically significant.

"Demented people and elks are being equipped with GPS!" : A study of the news program Rapport's from 1979 to 2009 / "Dementa och älgar utrustas med GPS!"

Cedergren, Johanna, Marmolin, Maria January 2009 (has links)
The aim of this study was to examine which effect tabloidization has had on the news content and the presentation of the Swedish news program Rapport, during the years 1979 and 2009. Rapport is broadcasted in the Public Service channel "Sveriges Television". Our main concern was to examine whether Rapport has stayed true to their assignment or if they have made changes to appeal to the popularised audience. To do so we focused on three questions: What is the journalist’s role? What becomes news? Who are interviewed? We used theories such as social representation, news value and media logic to help us perform the analysis. Qualitative methods were used to analyse the news broadcasts, of which John Langer’s story-types was the primary method. In addition to that we used the method of semiotics to reveal signs of tabloidization in the imagery of the broadcasts. Our results showed that the tabloidization of Rapport lies in the format rather than the news content. The changes in the news content are barely noticeable, even though the time span is quite long. The format however, has seen some tabloidization in 2009, with changes to the vignette and the feature structure. We also found changes in which people that Rapport chose to interview and changes among the journalists themselves. For instance we discovered that the representation of different groups of people is much more varied in 2009 than it was in 1979. The results also showed that the journalistic role has shifted from the task of educating the citizens to the task of being sensational and entertaining.
