Palm, Oliwia January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this study was to see if eye dominance test could be relevant for eyesight tests for more advanced driving licenses, especially if the person has a difference in visual acuity, for example, people with amblyopia. Field studies were carried out at different haulage contractors, where a total of 34 drivers choose to participate, whereof 2 women and 32 men, ranging from the age of 23 to 79 years, with an average age of 45,5 years. The study focused on existing visual acuity, stereopsis and eye dominance and were carried out with a blurred test and hole in a card test. Out of the 34 participants, 16 (47%) had differences in their visual acuity and one of them had a strabismic right eye, 19 (56%) of the participants changed which eye was dominant during the eye dominance tests. This study did not show a correlation between unequal visual acuity and eye dominance. Although the study did find what first gave the idea to make a study on this subject, namely, one participant with an eyesight problem, whose weaker eye, was the dominant one.
