The theoretical framework and the working methods are guided in tools identified in Foucault's arquegenealogia and that, in our view, allow us to reflect on the knowledge that attend on the basis of discursive mechanisms that aim and subjectify the subject/professional teacher. Concepts such as file, memory, discontinuity, enunciative regularity, knowledge, power, objectivity, subjectivity, pastoral power and toughness are essential in the treatment we give this research, the speeches that promote some kind of categorization for the teacher. Although aware that the possibilities are numerous to classify the teacher chose to systematize the data of our file into two broad categories: its ethical political conduct and its professionalism, in order to observe the interweaving of knowledge and practices that support the understanding what should it be a requirement preciput of their work activities and in different circumstances, their way of being. The problematics of these statements makes it possible to understand that, often, there is almost universal agreement that the teacher is undervalued and therefore it is necessary to leave in his defense. This results in the tendency to put as the main element in the evaluative scale the importance of the subject / professional teacher to 1. instruct young people to live in harmonious society to do everything without neglecting own principles to traditional values. 2. contribute to the development of the country through its ability to form qualified people to the labor market and thus cooperate with the growth of the nation. Both objectification possibilities teacher were observed both in the statements delivered by ordinary citizens and professionals from other areas as set out in materialized by teachers themselves. However, from the data analyzed it was also possible to establish the existence of a space of resistance which is designed here as an indication that there is a way out to the point of being denied certain forms of objectification. By subjectively, not infrequently, the teacher denies the place that takes as the good shepherd, as the example to be followed and, therefore, makes statements and adopts different postures that are beyond the expectations that exist around it, and may, even culminate in what we believe to be the peak of its ability to "jump the window", namely, the abandonment of the profession.

Knowledge creation and organizational learning in communities of practice: an empirical analysis of a healthcare organization

Lämsä, T. (Tuija) 29 April 2008 (has links)
Abstract The purpose of this research is to study knowledge management in the context of organizational learning as a process in communities of practice. The aim of the study is to examine the ways in which knowledge is created and managed, and how organizational learning works as a process in communities of practice in order to offer some further insight into improving and developing the management of knowledge, know-how and organizational learning. Knowledge and learning are at the heart of strategic thinking and success in the new economy. Much of knowledge is embedded in practice, and therefore professions have organized their learning processes in ways that facilitate the learning of tacit knowledge. By supporting learning and knowledge through fostering communities of practice, an organization can generate value for its business, in this case for the supply of effective rehabilitation work. This study is inductive, emphasizing the fit between the grounded theory method and the exploratory case study research strategy. I have deliberately applied both in studying the phenomenon in question, organizational learning. Grounded theory is the inductive analytical approach used, whereas the exploratory case study strategy is utilized as a broader framework for drawing theoretical conclusions from the empirical material describing the organizational case under study. The contribution of this study is both theoretical and empirical. The result is an abstract, refined and enriched picture of communities of practice. The multilevel framework of this study facilitated deeper understanding of the meaning of communities of practice in organizational learning and in managing knowledge and know-how. There exist two different worlds: the world of informal communities of practice and the world of the formal organization which interact with each other in many ways. Communities of practice are often also occupational communities. They perform various functions, but the ways in which these communities are structured and how they operate reveal that they focus mainly on one or two activities. According to the empirical findings, communities of practice are beneficial to the business in various ways, the community itself and to employees. My research highlighted that invisible, socially constructed knowledge has a greater tendency to flow within the case organization in comparison to explicit knowledge. The empirical results show that knowledge management is also inherently in the management of time – time was a critical factor in the efficient creation and sharing of knowledge and know-how. The study developed a substantive framework to describe knowledge creation and organizational learning processes in communities of practice. By focusing on the social processes and seeing organizational learning as a process in communities of practice, I was able to look for new dimensions of learning as well as knowledge creation and utilization as local and emergent processes.

L'impact de l'intégration des logiciels éducatifs dans l'enseignement des sciences au Kenya / How educational software is affecting the teaching and learning of sciences in Kenyan schools

Ngunu, Carolyn 03 July 2013 (has links)
The expansion of access to primary éducation eight years ago has led to majority of children in Kenya notably the less priviledged like girls and those from poor or rural households to be enrolled in school for the first time. Despite the govenment's aim to increase resources for public éducation, primary and secondary schools are over stretched in terms of capacity. New approches to teaching and learning are necessary in order to ensure quality and progress in the pedagogical aréna. In an economy where 40% of its qualified manpower is unemployed, focus must be turned to effective training of its population to meet the job market's demands. One of the stratégies of improving quality of education is the integration of technologies such as ICT, as a way of globalizing the éducation process and ensuring equity in access. Having accepted the introduction of computers into the classroom more than ten years ago, the government is on a quest to find a more integrated approach of computers in specific subject areas rather than simply computer literacy. This thesis tries to identify and analyse different uses of educational software in the kenyan classroom at secondary school level. Leaning on approaches suggested by Papert and Cuban, on the prospects of making learning fun and effective through the use of software in the school environment.

Know-how signalling and transfer systems to support integrated supply chains

Liu, Zhitao January 2012 (has links)
The construction industry is the largest industry in the world and operates in knowledge-based project organisations. The success of projects relies on the management of both tacit and explicit knowledge. This situation calls for a method for disseminating tacit knowledge from individuals to achieve higher performance and success value in construction projects. For the purpose, this study first articulates the problems of knowledge management in the construction industry. Then, by reviewing some knowledge engineering and management literatures, this research sets a theoretical foundation of knowledge management in the construction industry. A questionnaire survey was used to investigate and examine the current situation of knowledge management in UK and China construction industry. The result of frequency analysis and nonparametric test analysis provides the perceptions on the importance of knowledge transfer, the implementation of knowledge transfer, the resources of knowledge, and barriers for tacit knowledge transfer. From the literature review, this study proposes a tacit knowledge transfer process framework (3I) and identifies a series of factors correlated with effectiveness of knowledge transfer. This thesis also identifies four main independent variables - organsiational culture, organizational structure, IT technology and No-IT technology, and investigates the relationship between organisational elements with these factors and the performance of knowledge transfer. The findings are based on three case studies and responses of questionnaire survey and interviews. The results reveal that there are significant relationships between some of the variables and either the creation of knowledge assets or performance of knowledge transfer. Therefore, it is necessary for construction organsiations to consider these elements in developing and implementing a knowledge management strategy/system in a construction organisation. This study proposes a practical methodology to transfer knowledge by using an integrated system (TKTMS). The TKTMS can be an effective tool for all project members to transfer tacit knowledge across firms' boundaries and accelerate the speed of knowledge creation, share and transfer in the construction industry. The integration of the function model (IDEF0) with the information model (IDEF1) is applied to understand the necessary function/information for consideration in the 3I model and implement TKTMS.

Environmental impacts of toxic substances: improving coastal resiliency in Florida

Korman, Aaron Manuel 01 October 2021 (has links)
Anthropogenic effects are causing significant environmental degradation, and regardless of actions taken to mitigate further changes, humans and animals will have to live with these impacts (IPCC 2019). Rapid population growth in coastal regions, saltwater intrusion (SWI), lowering water quality, and increased presence of toxic materials are degrading coastal resiliency. An important and popular coastal region for the United States is the state of Florida, and it is also an area extremely vulnerable to aspects of climate change such as sea-level rise (SLR) (Noss 2011). This project analyzes how the state is currently experiencing the direct and indirect impacts of toxic materials on the state’s people, environment, and economy. It will do so through analysis of the performance of federal legislation created with the intent to protect human and environmental health, quantification of current rates of using toxic chemicals and potential pollution, as well as quantifying effects of both anthropogenic and natural toxic materials on Florida’s housing market. It was anticipated that legislation such as the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) to ensure strict enforcement of drinking water standards and the Emergency Planning Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA) to prevent toxic pollution would be present in the vulnerable region. Also that natural phenomenon such as the harmful algal blooms significantly degrade the housing market through decreasing income through tourism and lowering housing prices in coastal neighborhoods. This project found that the SDWA is not being enforced, EPCRA data shows a huge risk to potential exposures from large storms, and that algal blooms are significant to housing prices in the state. Using these scientific findings to improve policy and appropriately communicating complex scientific topics to the public is extremely important. Doing so will enable a higher level of coastal resiliency as communities continue attempt to mitigate climate change, but also learn to understand current impacts and better live in a degrading environment.
