This thesis discusses international music competitions, their struggle with their subjectivity, awarded prizes and following up the success of their laureates. In a case study the thesis introduces the International Music Competition Prague Spring, its history and present. The competition is analyzing by using the SWOT analysis and intern analysis methods. Based on its results the thesis suggests solutions in terms of strategic planning, work with media, partners and laureates.

Pořad Wifina v kontextu mediální gramotnosti a vzdělávání médii / The television series Wifina in the context of media literacy and education through media

This diploma thesis is an addition to the discussion on media literacy development, which also deals with the effectiveness of children's education via a television program. The work offers a brief content overview of public broadcasting television channel ČT:D, focusing on shows that enlighten the viewers about facts from various fields (which are thus regarded educational). The television program Wifina is described in detail and is the center of later research. The first part of this document defines the factors that affect reception of information from television broadcast. The thesis introduces different variations of key media literacy concepts, including the specific way they are handled in the Czech setting. The objective of this work is to determine, whether the show Wifina enhances development of media literacy through its content, and whether this content helps to broaden general knowledge and education of the viewers. Based on content analysis of the program and subsequent qualitative comparative analysis of two groups of children - viewers and non-viewers - the author ascertains, whether Wifina educates its viewers about media-related subjects, as well as other areas. Problémy zviditelňování dobrovolnictví v médiích / Promoting volunteering in the media - problems and barriers

Raising awareness of the value and importance of volunteering has been identified as one of the objectives of the European Year of Volunteering 2011. One way, how to achieve it, is promote volunteering more in the media. This thesis is based on qualitative research; based on semi-structured interviews it determines if volunteer centers and companies implementing corporate volunteering in the Czech Republic aims to promote volunteering in the media. There was also the aim to identify what are the motives for promoting volunteering in the media, and if organizations experience any problems or barriers in doing so. For comparison, non-profit organizations with public collection were also interviewed.

The master thesis "Czech presidency through the eyes of the member and non- member country" considers with the confrontation of articles from the time period of the EU-Czech Presidency which were published in the Czech newspaper Hospodarske noviny a in the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung. The work concerns with that point how both newspapers constructed the reality of the Czech Republic during its EU-Presidency. The analysis will proceed through the framing method and semiotic analysis. From the framing analysis will result the quantitative data and in the semiotic analysis is included the critical discoursive analysis. The CDA will be discussed in the thesis. Media shows to the audience the secondary reality and they have impact to that what the people think about and what attitude they contain to which event. At this process participates the language. In the master thesis we would like to prove that the Swiss media Show another reality than the Czech one.
