Implementation Of A Risc Microcontroller Using Fpga

Gumus, Rasit 01 October 2005 (has links) (PDF)
In this thesis a microcontroller core is developed in an FPGA. Its instruction set is compatible with the microcontroller PIC16XX series by Microchip Technology. The microcontroller employs a RISC architecture with separate busses for instructions and data. Our goal in this research is to implement and evaluate the design in the FPGA. Increasing performance and gate capacity of recent FPGA devices permits complex logic systems to be implemented on a single programmable device. Such a growing complexity demands design approaches, which can lead to designs containing millions of logic gates, memories, high-speed interfaces, and other high-performance components. In recent years, the continuous development in the area of highly integrated circuits has lead to a change in the design methods used, making it possible to economically utilize FPGAs in many designs. A test demo board from the Digilent Inc is used to fit our testing requirements of the RISC microcontroller. The test demo board also had the capability of communicating with a personal computer (PC) so that we can load the program from PC. Based on the modern design methods the microcontroller core is developed using the Verilog hardware description language. Xilinx ISE Foundation 6.3i software is used for its synthesis and implementation. An embedded test program code using MPLAB is also developed, and then loaded into the designed microcontroller residing in the FPGA. In order to perform a functional test of the microcontroller core a special test program downloader application is designed by using Borland C++ Builder. First, the specification from the PIC16XX datasheet is transferred into an abstract behavioral description. Based on that, the next step is to develop a description of the microcontroller core with some minor modifications which can be synthesizable into a FPGA. Finally, the resulting gate level netlist is evaluated and tested using a demo board.

Monitoring a řízení teplovodních ventilů regulace vytápění jednočipovým mikropočítačem / Monitoring and controlling of the heating water valves by smart board microcomputer

MAŠEK, Roman January 2013 (has links)
The Masters thesis describes the control of heating system in family houses where exists requests for supervising and measuring of sources, energy storages and delivery parts of network. Description includes detail for source education support, overviews to development tools and programming language for microcontrollers. Heating system is built for two sources of energy and every source is steered alone. Source codes are designed into PIC? single-chip processors PIC? 18F4520 and PIC? 16F628A developed by Microchip company. These are deployed in unified boards called embedded board chosen for their accessibility from point of view low and high voltage interfaces. Part application of powerful elements control describes principle of operation and their usage in networks. For on-line control of central equipment is preferred usage of powerful components with servo-mechanism and for simpler usage is good to use passive components. Temperature sensor read current value in cross points of network where are media mixed or saved. Processors provides except own control jobs information interface for users too. Used SW is well arranged, faithful and includes routine for source code optimizing. The example of controlled system is actuators in family house heating with high and low temperature circuits which are controlled by industrial systems as current gas coopers.

Záznamová jednotka do UL letadla / Datalogger for UL aircraft

Marek, Michal January 2013 (has links)
This thesis describes the design of flight data recorder for UL aircraft. The theoretical part describes the basic principles of measurement of the quantities in relation to the operation of the aircraft, such as altitude, air speed. A separate chapter deals with systems for determining of GPS position. Furthermore, there are examples of instruments measuring these quantities. The practical part is focused on the description of selected components and their connection to PIC24FJ64GA004 microcontroller. This is followed by a description of the control of USB drives with USB Controller Vinculum-II. The work is finished by the functional test of the device.

Automatický systém pro sledování polohy pohybujících se objektů / System for Automatic Object Tracking

Kerndl, Michal January 2013 (has links)
There is suggestion of obtaining exact position in this work, based on GPS and GSM modules controlled by PIC microcontroller. Layout of this work is electronic schematic, PCB footprint and theoretical analysis of used modules. The practical part of work is also dealing with software for both microprocessor and web interface. The function prototype will be created and tested in next phases of this project.

Robot řízený mikroprocesorovou jednotkou PIC / Robot Controlled by PIC Microprocessor Unit

Heřman, Petr January 2015 (has links)
This thesis describes design of a cheap robot. It includes implementation of firmware of low level control unit based on microcontroller PIC. The firmware drives motors, gains sensors data and communicates with the high level control unit. Furthermore the thesis presents realisation of connection to the robotic operation system ROS and its standard structures allowing usage of existing packages for the robot teleoperation and displaying sensor data on the remote computer. The thesis finally reports experiments with the robot. The constructed prototype is the model of the robotic lawn mower, however the whole solution has universal usage.
