The aim of the diploma thesis is to offer to the city of Mikulov a project, that would help to use of a particular city part more efficiently and thus develop the city's potential not only as a tourist destination, but also for an attractive municipality. The diploma thesis deals mainly with the urban design of the new structure in relation to the existing buildings. One of the structural possibilities is developed also from the architectural point of view. The building would create a new place for city office.

This thesis is about location which is near outer walls of the town of Mikulov on the Svobody street. The work's aim was conversion of the former firehouse from the beginning of the 20th century to the new town library. The part of the study is makeover of the former Capuchin's garden into the town park. Detailed town analysis in previous semesters has preceded the diploma thesis.

The Master's thesis follows the unusual fate of the castle library in Mikulov. This library belonging to the family of Dietrichstein-Mensdorff-Pouilly was sold off through auctions in the times of the so-called Czechoslovak First Republic (1933, 1934). A part of its stock became a property of today's Moravian provincial library in Brno and some of the old manuscripts were sold to other institutions in Czechoslovakia. The thesis focuses on the position of the aristocratic family of the Dietrichsteins which was connected with the legal institution of fideicommissum, the cancellation of which led to the selling off of the Mikulov castle library. Moreover, the thesis deals with a comparison of the above mentioned situation and the other castle library sales between the two world wars. Over 200 000 items were sold from the Mikulov library, most of them being old and valuable books. The thesis describes all the inscriptions that one can see engraved into the gravestones on current cemeteries in Mikulov. We analyze the first and last names engraved into the gravestones but we focus primarily on epitaphs. In particular, we examine common epitaph themes, the number of their occurrences as well as linguistic errors that the inscriptions contain. In addition, we identify the most commonly quoted passages from the Bible, excerpts of poems, quotes of famous people and the time periods when they were most popular. MIKULOV WINERY U Lomu Wine proposal is bound to a place I know well from my childhood - the house in Mikulov under Turoldem. The house where my grandparents lived for many years and have built their homes and facilities. Idea of my diploma work is in the design winery, which would continue in both local and family tradition. In addition to a family house with housing the winemaker and his family (private part), there would have been even wine production focused on quality rather than quantity (production part). The design includes a raised corner object that represents the winery itself - tavern with an observation gallery offering local wines and dishes. It is tied to a large garden with flowering fruit trees, pergola with barbecue and seating. In the vicinity of the summer garden is designed smaller square that embrace houses, which offer private accommodation for lovers of culture and others. They are designed as double duplex units with views of the city skyline Mikulov. The object at the head of the square acts as a barrier on the ground. Story building is underground operationally linked to the cellar, where wine tasting will take place for a larger group of wine lovers drink in a separate vaulted room under the ground. The spaces between the square and on the corner object applies water element - copper well supplied with water from the spring. Instead of symbolically linked with copper, which refers to the settlement of this landscape in the Neolithic (the time of copper). Overall, the project reflects the potential of the place and reflects the traditional method of farming into a contemporary winery.

The main purpose is to show the way, how gymnasium in Mikulov can overcome its difficult existence situation by the architectural and urban study. The solved territory is defined by the campus of the school, Piarist Street, Comenius Street And Under the platter street. In this triangle is also a memorial tree, church, fallen memorial, park, 3 bus stops, mixed civic amenities and family housing. The proposal respects or supports them. The most problematic attributes that the design reacts to are the declining interest in grammar schooling, the untapped potential of a more active relationship between region and city and also non-human environment surrounding the school grounds associated with an inconvenient traffic situation in the city. The result of the solution is to be a positive spatial-functional-operational transformation of the site at a strategic-urban-architectural level with a long-term effect.

The thesis deals with value of an immovable cultural monument with different purposes of use. With help of analysis of the highest and the best use of property (HABU) are individual suggestions of use of the object examined. The theoretical part defines basic concepts, indivual methods of appraisement and explains analysis HABU. The first half of the practical part is about acquaintance with territory solution and property and the second part is about HABU method application. The aim of the work is based on analysis’ results that defines what use is the most appropriate. Value comparison of property with current purpose of use and property that appears as the best shows what effect has the change of purpose of use on property’s value.

The diploma thesis focuses on the analysis of management of selected municipality -- the town of Mikulov, in the time period 2005 -- 2014. For these purposes financial analysis of income, expenditure and balance is selected. Furthermore, there are calculated and evaluated informative and monitoring economic indicators according to the methodology of the Ministry of Finance under which it can be claimed that management of Mikulov is very good. The findings are compared with data of the town Hustopeče. This thesis also includes the identification of factors that affect the current situation of Mikulov and possibilities for the direction of its further development. To improve the current state of the town it is recommended to attract new investors and raise the level of involvement of local inhabitants in the planning process. A new amount of collected local taxes is also suggested to increase municipal revenues.
