The aim of the diploma thesis is to investigate and provide a solution to the motivation of employees at a branch bank. A well-motivated employee is a key component towards the whole company success as well as a significant competitive advantage. The theoretical part, which derives findings from literary sources, summarizes the features and theories of management. Further, it deals with motivation including various theories and views on a methodology of work motivation, a motivational program of a company and a job performance. The practical part focuses on the chosen company, a Moravian medium-sized branch, and its aims. It analyses the current characteristics of a motivational system in the given company and future prospects of its employees. Based on the findings and results, I present recommendations to the organization management, which would serve to modify the existing motivational system and, consequently, the motivation of employees.

Následně v rovině praktické při analýze jednotlivých faktorů pracovní spokojenosti ve vybrané firmě. Analýza byla provedena pomocí dotazníkového šetření. V práci jsou též navržena řešení, která by mohla vést ke zlepšení pracovní spokojenosti, motivace a stimulace ve firmě.

First of all, an analysis of the employee structure based on data provided by the company was made, above age, length of services and achieved level of education. The next step is analysing the personal costs and description of the current wage system. In the next part a new wage system is proposed, which includes adding new complementary wage forms. Recommended is the introduction of benefits as an effective tool to motivate employees.

The study is focused on the work incentives, work productivity, work contentment and workers´ remuneration.The practical part of this study is focused on the data processing that was extracted in the time of the research activity. The data and the sources for the assessment of the research were acquired due to the method of controlled dialog and questioning. The dialog is focused on the work incentives of workers. The ascertained data were analyzed and elaborated with the help of the tabular editor MS Excel.

The aim of the dissertation called Motivation as a tool of performance management is to analyze the present condition of the motivation system in the company Ahold and eventually base on recognized imperfections to suggest and help increase employee performance. The dissertation is divided in a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part leader and manager, motivation, sources of motivation, theories of motivation and achievement motivation are defined. Further attention is devoted to direction and evaluation of work performance. The theoretical part is followed by the practical part, which contains company characteristics, analysis of the current motivation system, where empirical research investigates motivation and her impact on satisfaction and performance employee. At the end of the dissertation there are stated and proposed recommended changes, which should contribute to better performance and motivation of the employee.
