Specifika ošetřování muslimů v podmínkách ČR / Specifice of nursing muslims in conditions of the ČR

TANČOUS, Tomáš January 2009 (has links)
The topic of the diploma thesis is: Specifice of the Treatment of Muslims in the Condition of the Czech environment. In this diploma thesis we have dealt with the issues of the Muslims patients. We have chosen this topic as it seemed very intresting and current to us. Another reason why we have chosen this topic is the fact many Czechs converted to Islam and many foreigners with the origin in Muslim countries have come to the Czech Republic. These foreigners may come to work or to study here or simpli to travel. Thanks to the increasing numer of Muslims we can meet them in hospitals more often, too. And i this up to health professionals to provide holistic health care. With a correct attitude and certain knowlwdge of Islam the positive approach by the Muslims can be ensured as well. This diploma thesis compreises of two main parts {--} the theoretical and practical one.At the beginning of the theoretical part there is a general introduction and introduction of the essentials of multicultural nursing service. This part further contains a bief history of Islam from its very beginning, its historical development in the Czech Republic and basis informaation about Islam. The basic information regarded 5 pillars of Islam, guestion of daily life, issues concerning the foot, family, hygiene, dressing and others. The final section of the theoretical part describe the ethics in Islam, ensuring of holistic approach to Muslim patient and differences in the education of the Muslim and Czech patient. Two main objectives were determined for this paper. The first objective was to determine the nursing specifics which are connected with the Musim belief. The second objective was to elaborate educational and information sheets. Thhe practical part comprises of interviuws made with the Muslims living in the Czech Republic. They included the converted as well as the native Muslims. The result of this diploma thesis is educational sheets for the health professionals and information sheets for Muslim patients. Educational sheets should serve to health professionals to be aware in which areas the patient should be educated. Information sheets will help Muslim patients with bette adaptation in the hospital environment and with operation in it. This materials can be used also for communication between Muslim patients and medical and paramedical staff. The sane sheets can serve to ordinary patient as they contain general information suitable for all patients. Included in the sheets are communication cards with Czech-English-Arabic translation.

Religionens synlighet i sociala medier : En innehållsanalys om moskédebatter på facebook

Bruno, Elin January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine how religion and the construction of new religious buildings are debated in social media. The study is based on two research questions concerning the main arguments about the mosque building in Karlstad and what kind of image of Muslims and Islam that exist. Data were collected from two Facebook-groups, Ja till moské i Karlstad and Nej tack till moské i Karlstad and analyzed and categorised with a content analysis and image analysis. The theory of the study rests on Mattias Gardell’s definition of Islamophobia. The theory also includes Klas Borell’s definition of NIMBY and the concept of cyber-Islamophobia by Göran Larsson. The result showed that most arguments concerning the building of the mosque were based on arguments of freedom of religion. The positive arguments claimed a mosque was good for the city and the freedom of religion. The arguments that were negative claimed a mosque would be a threat to the freedom of religion, since they claimed Islam is violent and that the location for the mosque should be used for something better (housing, school, activities, etc.). Muslims and Islam i portrayed mostly negative and stereotyped. However, these stereotypes are contradicted by Muslims who claims their religion to be peaceful and respectful.the result showed that the arguments overall was Islamophobic even though some arguments in favor to defend that Islam exist.

Strategies of British-Pakistani Muslim women : 'subject' and 'agency' reconsidered through (an) analysis of marriage, divorce and everyday life

Malik, Aisha Anees January 2010 (has links)
This dissertation explores the experiences of British Muslim women of Pakistani ethnic origin living in Slough in the south-east of England in matters related to maITiage, divorce and everyday life by looking into their private and social worlds in a diasporic space. Pakistanis in Britain have seen a shift in their identity from being cast as south Asians to Muslims. Women belonging to this immigrant group are increasingly being seen as 'Muslim' with an automatic inference of their being oppressed victims. When these women exhibit agency dispelling the victim image, it is read within the sole perspective of religiosity framing them only as 'Muslim women' and ignoring other facets of their being. Their experiences as British citizens and members of an ethnic minority community, the rootedness of their regional affiliations in Pakistan, class, age and their location at intersections of historical and geographical movements are subsumed by an essentialized understanding of their being Muslim. An investigation into the strategies of British-Pakistani Muslim women in Slough negotiating issues of space, clothing, language, education, employment, religiosity, ethnicity, identity, and most importantly, marriage and divorce calls for a reconsideration of notions of subject and agency. Drawing on feminist interpretations, the thesis recasts these women as 'strategizing-agentic' subjects who exhibit agency drawing from diverse even oppositional traditions. Ethnographic research methods are used to generate qualitative data that details the experiences of British-Pakistani Muslim women in Slough.

A comparative study of the South African and Islamic law of succession and matrimonial property with especial attention to the implications for the Muslim woman

Moosa, Najma January 1991 (has links)
Magister Legum - LLM / As a Muslim south African trained in South African Roman-Dutch law, I have been exposed to experiences/situations which indicate a conflict between the principles of South African Roman-Dutch law and Islamic law of succession. This has prompted me to do some research into the history of Islamic law, the spreading of Islamic law over large parts of the world and the question of the recognition and application of Islamic law in South Africa. The central theme of this study is the Islamic law of succession in so far as it affects women. Chapter One of my dissertation contains a brief historical background which outlines on the one hand, the nomadic society, women and succession in pre-Islamic Arabia and on the other, their improved position upon the advent of Islam {seventh century) . It ends with the historical background of Muslims in South Africa. Chapter Two is devoted to the marriage property background against which both the South African and Islamic law of succession operate. Thereafter, in Chapter Three, the South African law and Islamic law (substantive rules} of succession are compared. These include both intestate and testamentary succession, the latter being limited on the Islamic side. Chapter Four, with the backgrounds sketched in Chapters Two and Three, demonstrates the visible internal conflicts between the Islamic and South African law of marriage and succession as encountered in South African practice. After evaluating statistics and alternative solutions in this regard, and having arrived at certain conclusions, I propose that recommendations about the possible recognition and application of Muslim Personal Law in South Africa which is at present enjoying the attention of the South African Law Commission in Project 59 should see fruition and be implemented as it can only assist the society in closer inspection are riddled with controversies. Chapter Six explores the treatment received by a Muslim widow, daughter and mother in terms of their respective fixed "intestate" shares and its implications for modern twentieth century society. which we live since it is a vital aspect affecting our daily lives {and deaths!). Chapter Five covers the whole aspect of the Muslim testator or testatrix' s limited "freedom" of testation and reforms by certain forerunner countries in this regard which on closer inspection are riddled with controversies. Chapter Six explores the treatment received by a Muslim widow, daughter and mother in terms of their respective fixed "intestate" shares and its implications for modern twentieth century society.
